i totally agree with what yall said at the end! even self producing / composing groups music lowkey be falling off cause they have to follow the company / whats trending at the end of the day and its so sad that groups that constantly put out are dwindling down 😭
I agree with you 100%. WayV is my favorite group, but their last two mini albums didn't do much for me. As you said, there is nothing wrong with the group, they are doing their best and making the most with the material that they are given by the company. Imo, their vocal and dancing skills have never been better, actually. But the problem is that the company doesn't know what to do with WayV or how to market them. In their behind the scenes video for On My Youth, there's a part where the members hear the song for the first time and the company explains to them that they want them to do this type of song because they think it'll appeal to more people; they pointed out that WayV isn't popular enough. That scene was really heartbreaking and I think the group is still in the same situation this year: the company STILL doesn't know what to do with them. Recently, I noticed that their music is becoming more like the other sub-units...and I really don't like that. WayV was my favorite sub-unit bc I liked their more adult, R&B sound. Now it feels like they are regressing. As a fan, I'm not sure what to do because while I want to show support and interest for the group, I also want to show the company that I don't like the direction that the group is heading in, musically. Anyway, after I watched their mv for Frequency, my reaction was "what audience is this song for?" Do y'all know who this is for? I have no clue. And I grew up during the 90s.
I have to disagree with you because Wayv is doing just fine plus them winning awards show they are doing something right The MV for Frequency really isn't confusing if you pay attention. Wayv were clearly aliens from a different planet with powers.
