  • Get to know the incredible story of this enlightened human being, called Andor Stern.
Andor was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1928. Son of a Hungarian couple, he lived in Sao Paulo until approximately 3 years old, when his father asked for a transfer to India. After the termination of the father's employment contract, the family decided to visit relatives in Hungary. With the war going on and Brazil's positioning alongside the allies, the Brazilians were considered an enemy of the state, so we was handed over by his mother to the Hungarian authorities. Andor was interned in a camp in the Lower Carpathians region, but managed to escape with the help of an Englishman. He lived clandestinely in his mother's house (already separated from his father) until the Nazi occupation in Hungary, when the Jews suffered the routine implanted throughout Europe: loss of rights, change to the ghettos and, finally, deportation to Auschwitz.
Despite the great suffering, Andor's story had a happy ending. In 1945, with the end of the war, he won his freedom back. He lived another 3 years in Hungary, when he realized his dream of returning to Brazil. He won an IBM scholarship and was an employee and client of the multinational. Afterwards, he became an industrialist in the chemical sector and is currently a quality consultant for the giant UNIGEL.
Married to Therezinha Figueira, Andor has 5 children. At the age of 92, Andor and Gabriel, biographer of his book, tour Brazil with lectures that teach tolerance and respect for others.
