The guy in the chair is on trial for his money "crimes." Ren slowly become aware of his own guilt and putting eyes on the victim makes him more human, making Ren realize they are the same.
The guy in the chair is Romain Axisa who plays guitar in their band The Big Push. In this song Romain represents people in general who are all part of this old money game. Humanity is on trial for their part in the money game and at the end Ren draws eyes on Romain’s hood as if he has had his eyes opened and is no longer ‘in the middle’ where ‘we sleep’. However, drawing the eyes on Romain humanizes him and Ren realises that he part of the same money game and is equally to blame. Hence Ren self-imolates instead of setting fire to Romain
Yeah I seen that side to. I seen when ren is jumping side to side with the beat he's dancing to their tune without realising it. He makes him stop and start and takes power (guitar) away beats him then hands the power right back to him... everything ren does has so many layers and its art. Art is interpreted by the audience
The way i see it as the guy in the chair is us, the viewer, and we are not stopping the deadly abuse that's happening to us, until Ren "Opens our eyes" at the end, that is when we, the viewer, actively try to stop the abuse by blocking the gas can, at that point the abuser realises that the game is up, the easy money is gone and they cannot do the hard work required to earn honest money.....and that is message i take away, Open up your eyes to what you participate in, because we are all part of this old money game
Hey Girls...Welcome to the REN rabbit hole :) For a lighter side of Ren I have a feeling you would love his band The Big Push - Bongo Bong (Manu Chao cover) or I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop.
WOW!! NEVER seen or heard of Ren, what a fricking masterpiece this was. I was hooked and on the edge of my seat. Thanks for the chance to be introduced to this thought-provoking song. The scene of the struggle within is intense to that over-the-top ending he chose. Great vid, great reaction. Keep up the great work ladies, looking forward to the next one.

FYI, this is a live one take video - it actually took 186 takes before they were satisfied with one ! Saw your Black Pegasus reaction to Ren and I can assure you that you are in for an amazing journey as you travel down the Ren rabbit hole. It is vast and I can honestly say that EVERY song is a masterpiece. There are many offshoot branches also to explore - with his band The Big Push (other members also extremely talented and have their own rabbit holes which are just as good), with all the people he collaborates with such as Chinchilla and Sam Tompkins (both incredible in their own right). I'm envious that you have all this wonderment and enjoyment in front of you !
@cgl1966 From Romain... (the hooded guitarist) he said Ren over exaggerated! Think about it... 186 times would be well over 24 hours straight, non stop! Lol
I was just thinking about the number of takes being exaggerated. Theyvalso probably did practice walk-through and all that too...but no way they re-did drawing the eyes on, switching the sheets, etc. and getting him wet, having to dry him off over a hundred times.

Great reaction! "Suspenseful" is maybe the word you were looking for. I'm excited to watch your next one! I don't know where you got the idea that this video is about mental health, though. It's about power, politics, & money. (Its title gives it away.) You've probably heard a zillion suggestions for your next Ren, but I'll add these few: Must do Tale of Jenny & Screech, the full trilogy. Also, The Big Push live from home.
You guys really need to do Chalk Outlines (Live) and How To Be Me (Live) next. (And Money Game Part 2, of course). They are both duets with Chinchilla, and if you liked the busking video of them you watched with Black Pegasus, these will take it to a WHOLE other level!
I watched your reaction with BP and had to come check out your channel. I like that you focus all the way through and then discuss everything thoroughly 👌 looking forward to more of your Ren journey. Liked and subscribed 👍
I love how everyone interprets Rens music differently. BP wanted to do the tales of Jenny Screech and Violet with you but in the meantime a few I'd recommend would be Losing it retake, Power and Freckled Angels 💜 Freckled angels was dedicated to a close friend Ren lost, he mentions him in a couple songs but the story is in a couple of his posts and an interview or two as well if you'd want more info. Welcome to the rabbit hole ladies 🕳🐇
For me part of the brilliance of Ren is the empathy he both demonstrates and encourages. Even those that don't have issues that they are cognizant of struggling with; he shows that in one way or another we all experience some shared trauma of human existence.
Great reaction ladies. Really enjoyed you Ren reaction with BP too. Money Game part 2 is the perfect follow up to this one. Apparently there's a Money Game Part 3 coming soon as well. Oh and just to mention, he puts the lyrics to all his song in the first post on his videos.
cant wait to see you going down the rest of the rabbit hole of Ren. I have spent weeks watching people react to his music. Every ones emotion is different in many ways, but one thing in common, and that is everyones jaw is open.. in disbelief of how wonderful of an artist this guy is.
He wanted him to SEE what's coming... hence giving him eyes! Then... he realized he's part of the game too!!! Ren brilliance is changing the game!!! No One Compares to Ren! No one!!
actually... no you're right. REN IS A GENIUS. there are other geniuses, but Ren is on a musical and intellectual level that's hard to (impossible for me), compare to.
I loved watching you on Pegasus! Your reactions were priceless! 😮😅 Immediately jumped over here ,and subscribed to your channel as well. Thank you for your interest & sharing Ren with everyone ❤ Enjoy the the ride!✌️
I just found Ren with "Hi Ren" a few months ago. From the interviews and music I've seen he grew up reading books like "1984", "Animal Farm", "Lord of the Flies" and so on. He seems to be very critical of society and how people treat each other while also admitting that he's part of "the money game" as well. Between his mental health songs and societal criticism songs, you would think the guy doesn't know how to have any fun, but he's got some positive and fun songs too. He's been focusing on making a cohesive rap album, so most of his recent stuff has been rap, but he's all over the place as far as genre. Ren is completely independent and doesn't have a big record company budget. The people shooting the videos are his friends. The extras in the videos are his friends. The locations are just places where he could get permission (and sometimes just where he wouldn't get caught). His video budgets are usually under a couple thousand dollars. For fun, I suggest Ren & Sam Tompkins doing "Blind Eyed Ft. Angry Car Park Attendant", "Power", "1990s" (Ren's 33 years old now) or "Losing it ( FISHER rap retake )". I will warn you, don't watch "Violet's Tale" as a solo video. It's the third part of a trilogy. The trilogy is available as a single video called "The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full)" with "Violet's Tale" at the end.
Hello, Ladies, I enjoyed your reactions on BP's channel, and am glad you'll be going back. But you're good here, too, and I'll be watching your journey!
Interesting perspective, RENdezvous with money game pt2 - pt3 be out soon. For me money game pt1 The guy in the chair is a projection of a perception of blame and not taking responsibility for our own part in what he sings of,he draws a eyes on the guy to give the blame an identity, basically unhealed thoughts and emotions and feelings for clarity would be perceived instead of seeing through an unclean lense of perception...or Indeed similar to this in some shape or form.... Thank You Ladies 💙💎🕊️
Very interesting interpretation with both persons being Ren and the setting being his mind. I don't think I ever heard anybody interpreting it this way. Kudos mesdames! ❤
This! Anytime someone reacts to Money Game part 1 you can expect debates as to whether Ren's personifying the powerful (with humanity held captive, and basically living as they dictate) or whether the hostage is meant to depict the powerful, in a near-future where humanity has realized we need to break free of their hold and is putting them on trial or something. Never have I seen the idea that both Ren and the captive represent aspects of Ren himself (or the non-power-brokers of the planet)... but that framing makes as much sense as either of the other 2, and in fact resolves the dissatisfaction Ive always felt for how either of the 2 usual framings fall short on Ren-who-takes-off-the-poncho, self-immolating! Moreover, like you also said, the "both characters are Ren" interpretation makes a LOT of sense for how we know Ren thinks. You'll see more of it in the final verse of Sick Boi, too. I really appreciate your discussion about what's going on in this video!
First of sll, CONGRATS ON 4K SUBS !!! 🎉🍾🥂🎊 All of Ren's songs have powerful messages about mental health and social issues and the cinematography of his videos is always incredible. A few more great Ren songs are Chalk Outlines ft. Chinchilla, Suicide, The Hunger, Animal Flow, and the Jenny & Screech trilogy. Btw, Ren is dropping his newest song tomorrow. 🙌✌️
Love you gals!!! Saw you on BP. Ren just filmed Money Game Part 3. I would expect it will be out soon. I suggest doing Money Game Part 2 so you're ready when part 3 comes out. It's fire BTW! :)
I had the same reaction when I watched this! Ren was in a busking band called The Big Push. This is also a lovely little intersection of the Ren rabbit hole. I Shot the Sherrif/Road to Zion/Hip-hop, Wade in the water/Nina Simone/Trouble so Hard and War Pigs are a few covers that they did that are pretty amazing. There are too many to list!
I prefer to call it the RENaissance. Also, i wanted to say good eye seeing that they might be one and the same. My theory is they indeed are the same person, but Ren didn't realize this until he gave sack man (his official name btw) his eyes. If you notice, his voice gets muffled when he's drawing the eyes, sure you might expect that, being in close proximity, apparently doing something strenuous, but after Ren hands him back the guitar, Ren walks around the back, standing strait up, and in the open, he gives one last line, but... it's still muffled. Not only that, but you can't see Ren sing that last line, in fact, for the first time in the video, Ren isn't even in frame. The entirety of the focus is now squarely on sack man. Ren spent the entire video trying to teach Sack Man, trying to open his eyes. it's at this point Ren returns with the gas, intending to burn the system down, but now somethings changed. he has eyes. He finally see's. He's just as guilty as those he accused. He's part of that system. so, with a realized expression of defeat, he walks away, and begins the self-immolation.
I’m so excited you’re going down this rabbit hole. The Ren-aissance is here and us REN-egade fans are here for it 😊 great insights from each of you and I think this journey is going to really open up topics for discussion. Thank you! Don’t stop of the Ren reactions please 💛
Crutch is a very moving song. But if you want to be chilled and uplifted go for Bongo Bong The Big Push ( The band he was and hopefully is still in ) it is incredible, but honestly there are over 150 classics out there! Love your channel and look forward to more.....never overlook Chinchilla ( Fingers Live ) BP has just done it and was shocked! Chalk Outlines Live Chinchilla and Ren is the best duet ever.
Great reaction ladies. New sub for the Ren train. I’d highly recommend chalk outlines or any other collab with chinchilla (including live street performances). 👍
Ren has a new video coming out tomorrow called "For Joe". It's basically a live rendition of his latest single "Su!clde" but Ren said he rewrote it a couple weeks ago, added some new verses, and then recorded this live version. I highly recommend reacting to "Su!clde" before that one, but please bring tissues!
I don't know if anyone has mentioned that the hooded guitarist is Romain Axisa, a member of the band that Ren was also in. Another avenue to journey down with Ren. I recommend their I shot the sheriff/Road to zion/hiphop video, I'm sure you'll get around to it at some point. Loved the stunned silence at the end, great reaction ❤
Great video! I interpret the person in the chair as either being a someone representing the corrupt systems of the world, or an everyday person blind to the money game. Ren drew eyes on the person in the chair to allow them to see the corruption of the money game. In the end, Ren cannot kill the person because Ren realizes that he himself is also part of the corrupt system or money game. Similar to how in Sick Boi, Ren Says "I'm not sick, I'm the virus, your'e the virus, hypocrite." Ren similarly says at the end of Sick Boi "But when you bleed it can you tell me what the F will remain? And I bleed in myself, I bleed in my brain. While I'm bleeding I'm the reason cause I'm doing the same." He seems to illustrate that we have systemic problems but it is easier for us to point the finger rather than take individual steps towards progress. Just my take.
He actually directs a mocking salute to the hooded figure, "dear Mr. President..." as if he's speaking to trump. Then continues to speak of the person watching his nation burn, treatment of Muslims etc. The restrained person represents more throughout the song. I get that. Then he gives him eyes so he can see what REN is talking about but then REN realizes REN is also part of the "money game" and to blame 🔥
Ren says he lets people interpret his music in their own way. I never got any hint of mental struggles with this song. I've always took away the government & the hypocrisy it stands for. I've struggled with mental illness for over 40 yrs. & although I hear it in most of his music, this is one I never even had it cross my mind. 🤷♀☺
Yes. Immediately move on to "Money Game Pt. 2". Then, you want to make a sharp 180 and hop briefly onto the Chinchilla train. Chinchilla is Ren's "sister from another mister" - his words, not mine - and their busking and collaborations are brilliant and you should 100% check those out too BUT... Chinchilla will give you your anthem. Guarranteed. I shit you not, you will be torn between "Elements", "Fingers - Live", and "Little Girl Gone". Each one more badass and empowering than the other and her voice and performance chops are mind blowing. Then Dig into Ren'ss catalogue of music, which is 10 years of all killer no filler. It's a motherload of dopeness for reactors. Enjoy the rides.
This short one take video tells such a vivid story of corporate blindness and that blindness allowing them to act however they want to the faceless masses. Once he paints the eyes on the mask and it is able to "see" him he changes and feels the guilt of what he was doing and about to do and turns the tables onto himself to stop the cycle.
I believe this song and video is quite simply about taking responsibility for our thoughts and actions. Ren's character was, initially, pouring blame upon the faceless profiteer from capitalism .... his intention was to take this monster out for all the suffering he has caused .... but then, he stops, draws a face upon the hood of his prisoner and everything changes. Ren then recognises that we are all to blame as we all, gladly participate in that which we condemn. The faceless prisoner now becomes a " face " a human being, with flaws, just like all of us. So he has a change of heart and decides to take himself out of THE MONEY GAME ( as he is as guilty as the accused ) 🙏 .... just go easy on those we disagree with .... they are more like us than we will ever know. x
This is literally one of the ones Black Pegasus asked you to dodge so he could introduce you to it 🤣😂🤣😂. Great reaction though. It’s always good to see new folk catch on to Ren. You are now RENegades. Congratulations you life just got better 🤣😂🤣✌🏻🏴
Thanks for watching! He originally told us that but then we asked for his suggestions and he told us this 😂 so maybe he has something else up his sleeve! Thanks again for the support! ❤️
I believe you were saving ‘the tales” for Black P, but until then… Money Game 2 (lyrically awesome) Ocean ft Eden Nash (Melodically awesome) Chalk Outlines (with Chinchilla from the busking vid) - then rabbit hole her. What you want - a really fun Beastie Boys tribute.
You really should dive in to the all female bands that are coming from Japan now. Extremely talent bands. To mention a few: Lovebites / Holy War (Live), Band-Maid / Domination (Live) , Nemophila / Revive and Hanabie / We Love Sweets. All 4 with different rock genres. And there is more bands to dive in to. All female bands are exploding over in Japan. It is a good time to live in now!
Great reaction to Hi Ren with BP and to this video as well. I ran across Ren's music about a month ago. I'm an old fart. Child of the 60s and 70s. I've been retired for almost a decade. You get the picture. Old fart. I've never liked rap. But Ren is different. I can't get enough.
I love you're going down the Ren rabbit hole 🕳, money game is really not about mental illness, but about corporate business and how they control the money and how we buy into it! Watch part 2. Listen to the lyrics! Continue down the rabbit hole...
It took 186 tries to get that one take video. With the ending,Ren turned the mirror on himself and in protest lit himsrkf on fire. My mind went immediately to the monk that did this during the Vietnam war . Yhe madked man was society 's money men eho played the tune or calked the tune that we all dance to.

Ren has something to say.
Ren makes you feel.

Strange times we're living in
World can put fear in ya
Hierarchy parties, they make us feel inferior
Greed runs through the parliament interior
Devils walk among us, they fit the criteria
Eerie theories strike fear in weary minded men
When we're clearly living in dictatorships
Nearly blinded by illusions to choose
But who's fooling who?
A ball chained to your shoes
I'm pained, it's a crying shame
The pursuit of our own wealth lights a flame
That makes greed a game that lets the whole world burn
As the world turns, the whole world burns
Money was invented for trade
But now those bits of paper twist hearts, make slaves
Turns a saint into a sinner, a child into a killer
His finger on the trigger of a money game
Oh, rain, rain, rain, rain
A storm, it comes our way
And those who rise through distorted lies
Poison in the veins
But we like to point the blame, blame, blame, blame
It's easier to blame
But point the mirror at ourselves
We're all part of this old money game
This old money game
This old
Dear Mr. President, it's evident that everyone's a resident
Of fear when they support the ideas that keep us separate
When they make us believe that everybody
Is coming to terrorise you in the streets
They say proudly through gritted teeth
"It's my right to hate, that's freedom of speech!"
When did freedom become a reason to hate?
A way to justify a racial slur or insult we make
There's an irony in freedom, because us in the west
We have pillaged and plundered and murdered like savages
Colonised all of the rest, that's called hypocrisy
Preach a certain value that you'd never keep yourselves
If your country was in flames, you'd emigrate yourselves in a second
Still, you spit your venom, demonising immigrants
When really, you're an immigrant
'Cause all of us are immigrants
Or descended from immigrants
The irony is imminent, I'll shed the light on immigrants
America was colonised by Britain
Britain, it was colonised by Rome
Also, colonised by the Saxons
They were German, by the way
You know how people throw shade upon the Germans
'Cause of history's pain
And yet we make the same mistakes all again
Demonise a whole people, Jewish or Muslim the same and the same
Old situations play on repeat
The same old TV shows repeat
Yeah, we worship the bleak
Our opinions aren't our own and we follow like sheep
There's no left, there's no right
In the middle we sleep
Rain, rain, rain, rain
A storm, it comes our way
And those who rise through distorted lies
Poison in the veins
But we like to point the blame, blame, blame, blame
It's easier to blame
But point the mirror at ourselves
We're all part of this old money game

Immediately jumped over here ,and subscribed to your channel as well.
Thanks!!! We appreciate your support ❤
Interesting perspective, RENdezvous with money game pt2 - pt3 be out soon.
For me money game pt1
The guy in the chair is a projection of a perception of blame and not taking responsibility for our own part in what he sings of,he draws a eyes on the guy to give the blame an identity, basically unhealed thoughts and emotions and feelings for clarity would be perceived instead of seeing through an unclean lense of perception...or Indeed similar to this in some shape or form....
Here from BP cant wait til you see Tales.
Thanks for coming over to support! ❤️
Enjoyed your interpetation!
Definitely check out part 2
Please do his two live songs with Chinchilla "Chalk Outlines" and "How to be me". Definitely the live versions though.
So glad ya’ll do these together. Very cogentisights
Saw you guys on BPs channel, subscribed for more awesome reactions!
This was so funny watching it fly way, way over all three heads, lol. xxx
Love you gals!!! Saw you on BP. Ren just filmed Money Game Part 3. I would expect it will be out soon. I suggest doing Money Game Part 2 so you're ready when part 3 comes out. It's fire BTW! :)
Hi, ladies. Enjoyed your BP reaction. Here to follow you through the Ren rabbit hole.
Btw, there is a Money game 2. And Ren is working on part 3 video as we speak.
@@markbeckensbetter believe we’ll be doing those soon ❤🎉
@@LeliawithImmediatelyyes 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 you really can't go wrong. They are all unique and amazing.
I didn't read all the comments, but the guy in the sack playing guitar is Ren's bandmate Romain Axios from The Big Push.
You girls should do Love Music 1,2 &3 great stuff as always from Ren😊
Just wait! If you are blown away now.......keep going!
Black Pegasus has set you on the trip down the Ren, Sam Tompkins, Chinchilla and The Big Push rabbit hole!
This is just the beginning.. his ability to make the viewer / listener vulnerable, is astonishing
The man in the chair is the other guitar player in his Band, Romain is his name
Money Game part 2 is brilliant, you should check it out. (It is the one I actually prefer, but I am looking forward to part 3)
you are making all the RENegade's very happy
“It’s just two people, him and the guitarist” LoL wait til you get to REN and Chinchilla…’Chalk Outlines’
Everything he does is just pure musical magic. Keep going down the rabbit hole ladies, you won't regret it ♤♡♤
Thank you, oh Wonderful Women! Love Ren, love you guys. Subscribed.
Love, Sally in Sweden xx
Great reaction ladies. New sub for the Ren train. I’d highly recommend chalk outlines or any other collab with chinchilla (including live street performances). 👍
Ren has a new video coming out tomorrow called "For Joe". It's basically a live rendition of his latest single "Su!clde" but Ren said he rewrote it a couple weeks ago, added some new verses, and then recorded this live version. I highly recommend reacting to "Su!clde" before that one, but please bring tissues!
Ren is a master at story telling....great reaction...thanks
I get that. Then he gives him eyes so he can see what REN is talking about but then REN realizes REN is also part of the "money game" and to blame 🔥
please please more Ren you wont be disappointed ❤❤❤
Ren says he lets people interpret his music in their own way. I never got any hint of mental struggles with this song. I've always took away the government & the hypocrisy it stands for. I've struggled with mental illness for over 40 yrs. & although I hear it in most of his music, this is one I never even had it cross my mind. 🤷♀☺
You have to watch pt 2 it pulls it together can’t wait for pt3
By the way I'm here because of your reactions on BPs channel...
Ren and Chinchilla Chalk Outlines or How To Be Me or busking with Sam Tomkins
Welcome to the RENagades!! You are sooo going to love being lost down here like the rest of us.
Part two??? He's gonna drop part 3 soon!
Glad to see your going down the Ren rabbiit hole 😊 Ren and liv sangster live is worth checking out too
The tales of jenny and screech is awesome. All his songs are.
Congrats 🎉 on 4k ladies. Subs are confirming what I've been saying forever... You are all amazing and hilarious 😂
Thanks Hammer!! We appreciate all your support! ❤️

Part two is 🔥🔥🔥, he’s just finished part three. Thanks for the reaction ladies and down the 🐇 🕳️ we go😁
You really should dive in to the all female bands that are coming from Japan now.
You need to follow on to part two 😊
It took 186 tries to get that one take video.
With the ending,Ren turned the mirror on himself and in protest lit himsrkf on fire. My mind went immediately to the monk that did this during the Vietnam war . Yhe madked man was society 's money men eho played the tune or calked the tune that we all dance to.
after hi ren i should have been the tale of jenny and screech 3 part watch the full vid all in one, money game is good too good reaction
