Can we just appreciate how absolutely gorgeous the production of these videos is? This is a small channel relatively speaking and the artistry of the set alone is top notch.
Thank you so much Ben! I really appreciate that someone can see all the hard work that goes into the videos. I figured out that each video takes between 15-30 hours to make and it's really lovely that all of that effort is visible to some extent. Thanks so much for watching and for this comment.
More amazing content. I love this design for the tooth fairy, and its connection with the bone matriarch. It looks frightening up close. For a tactical aspect, I would rule that they have some weird sense for enamel or bone that shows up brightly. If the PCs could keep their mouths shut and force an enemy to yell in pain, the tooth fairies might attack the enemy instead. "Never show 'em the yellows of her teeth."
I really enjoyed “Hellboy: and the Golden Army” so this design was always going to win bonus points for me. Admittedly Tooth Fairies are a much more benevolent and I guess lamer depending on how you look at it, basically they are a common sight in villages and cities where they fly about looking for humanoids in need of a dental check up. When they find someone who needs their teeth cleaned they lick them in exchange for a coin (they don’t care what type of coin it is also going it’s just “a” coin) but if you don’t pay them they will follow you and remove all the teeth in their sleep. They then use the later for for children who put their milk teeth under their pillow, since milk teeth are like candy to them. PS: Since you have covered the Bandersnatch I would love to see you handle the JubJub Bird
I’ve always loved the idea of a scary tooth fairy, for whatever reason the concept is really popular in North America, but I love it. I see the Tooth Fairies as being somewhat like other fey, where they have really arbitrary rules that control their behaviour (like how you need to let a fairy into your house for it to enter). For whatever reason, Tooth Fairies can only receive teeth given to them.
I love this concept! It captures the real-world "cutification" of many mythological creatures, and especially Fey - historically they were much more scary than they are today, and I think that you've done a great job of showing what a "primal tooth fairy" might have been like... I would make mine attack encampments/villages while they are sleeping, so there would be a mystery element to start with
This video has given me some great inspiration. I love the idea of teeth of material plane children being used as the primary currency in the feywilds. I like to imagine tooth fairies as a subspecies of sprite that has evolved for the purpose of traveling to the material plane and taking the teeth lost from children and placed underneath the pillow. In exchange, they leave behind a coin that is worthless to them. The reason that children are warned to place their lost teeth under the pillow is because, if a tooth fairy learns that a child has selfishly kept their lost tooth, they will steal all of the child’s teeth as punishment.
I too have a tremendous love for Hellboy 2 and I love your illustration and the whole vibe you went for! The insectoid claws were a really nice touch and I'm already thinking of a way to add this to my campaign!!!
“Darling,” Began the lamia male whose face was one of repulsion. “Is that putrid thing truly necessary?!” Even with a spell in place to make the filthy stench of Wyvern venom, it stank so wretchedly as to make an Otyugh’s stomach smell pleasant. “Of course!” Answered his lover, the androgynous Daelkyr chortling softly. “Do I ever do anything for no reason?” “Some days I wonder, quite honestly.” The bear-legged man said honestly, eyes widening as he was led into a beautiful garden shaped from the meat of living creatures, namely the Not-Deer which had died in hunts. Around them fluttered strange grotesques which hissed and wept out anguish, every tooth in their mouths a premolar or a molar to crush whatever twas they sought as delectable. Swinging the censer idly, his lover smiled at how each Tooth Fairy shrieked out their disgust. Tongueworm lashing out, ten of these insolent sprites were caught and killed in its jaws, a reminder to the Lamia that he slept with an aberrant beast of a being. “When seasoned, these taste quite marvelous, however my company is the-“ As it spoke did the Daelkyr offer its tongueworm only for the Lamia to balk. “No! I’ll not be romanced in a ring of stench surrounded by vermin! You’re to pamper and praise me in our bath tonight if you wish to woo me!” He ordered, a reminder to his regal nature as one of the magnificent Lamia. To this did the Daelkyr chortle again, nameless and beautiful like a solar flair among hundreds of showers meteors. “Very well, then. Still, I believe these wee Fae would make for excellent dining.” “I imagine these meaty flowers are their home?” Asked its beloved. “No, that’s decorative food for them. They live in these~” Leading him to masses of hole-riddled meat, there was next to no way the Lamia’s stomachs didn’t turn in disgust. Above and below them in this greenhouse of repugnance rested bodies which resembled honeycombed carcasses from the dead Not-Deer which were, in all honesty, juveniles. Stillborn, aborted or infanticidally executed…baby Not-Deer had been deprived of all Osseous materials within their bodies, every void in the body now a passageway wherein a Tooth Fairy might sleep or be born, these bodies balled up high or low-never in direct view unless observed directly. A Displacer Beast’s carcass also existed here, the oldest hive which the Daelkyr could afford. “And I hope to cultivate them for our benefit, namely food and money~” “Oh…darling,” The Lamia said in between dry heaves of an empty gut. “I’d love to appreciate these, but the stench…it’s insufferable! Please…let’s leave…show me their dead, not their living if I must smell so rank as to find dung beetles enviable.” “Very well then, beloved.” It answered, snatching a few more of these sickly looking Fae for a brief snack, their screams so insufferable as to leave the Lamia’s body trembling.
Here's an idea: present them as cute and harmless as real world depictions do but hide something dark behind the "why do they collect teeth". Maybe their collecting them for some necromantic ritual or they're forced to collect them for some evil being using the teeth to rejunivate so it can conquer the world
You can make it tragic as well. They're collecting teeth to offer as tribute to keep a bone devil from destroying their home. As the bone devil gets more greedy, they have to collect more teeth. Eventually getting to the point where they have to start taking teeth from the unwilling. This triggers the campaign. The party is hired to stop the fey onslaught on teeth but quickly discovers there is much more going on.
Are these the guys we talked about the other day? I couldn't find anything online I googled them but if they're the wee mice beasts then I'm so excited for this!
That's a good call Andrew! I didn't want them to be as smart or magically inclined as pixies, but in your campaigns, you can use anything that feels right to you!
Hey Enes! Thank you so much! I use a lot of different brushes for my drawings. I love the starter pack from Marc Brunet which you can find here: cubebrush.co/mb/products/m2ri4q/starter-brush-pack-2021, but then I mix that up with a lot of brushes from Kyle Webster's packs. His pencil brushes in particular are so great. My canvas size varies too unfortunately. I start off with a 420 X 420 mm square at 600dpi and then stretch it to fit the screen a little better. I hope that helps!

Truely the tea was delicious looking as well

Love the idea of them being impromptu dentists ^^
Love this idea! Thank you so much for sharing and for watching!

That's such a great idea, Shark! I love the arbitrary rules of the Fey and that is such a great addition!

Thank you so much Moth! I absolutely love this idea! I feel like there's a crime scene investigation quest in this for sure!

Thanks so much Willem! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Let me know if you end up using them! I'd love to hear how they fair in other people's campaigns!
Loving the semi-lineless style of these Feybruary vids!
Thank you so much Seth! I' hoping to keep that as a permanent feature going forward!

Beautifully written as always!
@@ArcaneForge Why thank you!
Having a layer called "skin??" is as horrifying as any tooth fairy lore
Update: "Inner mouth" is ?worse?
Haha! These were creepy wee guys. It seems only fitting that their layers be equally creepy :P
Y’know i wasn’t expecting the concept of tooth fairy drones for a Queen “bone angel” today
I'm loving your aesthetic!
Thank you so much! I'm loving your comment! Thank you so much for watching!
I absolutely adore your watermelon hair
Thank you so much! Same! I've dyed it purple now because it was starting to wash out and, while I do like the new colour, I'm missing that watermelon!

Very cool idea as always Styrax! Thanks so much for watching!
Oh also, Campestre! ya gotta do Campestre, they're so damn cute and I'm obsessed
Are these the guys we talked about the other day? I couldn't find anything online I googled them but if they're the wee mice beasts then I'm so excited for this!
No they're these little mushrooms that sing! They can't talk but mimic songs in a high pitched voice.
@Arcane Forge Could you do a special on teeflings, they are tiny devils that live inside the mouths of people and eat away at the teeth.
Huehuehue. I love this! Bravo, Nuclear Vanity! You can have an inspiration point for that!
Spooky
I would have guessed it's stat block to be more like a pixie's, but a pixie/ stirge mix could be really rough
That's a good call Andrew! I didn't want them to be as smart or magically inclined as pixies, but in your campaigns, you can use anything that feels right to you!
Wonderful drawing as always. Question. What brush/settings do you use for your line work? And also if possible the canvas size?

@@ArcaneForge Thank you for the information. Loving the new thumbnail styles and informative videos 👍👍👍
Bad Dentist.
Just, the worst!
Appropriately off-putting for a creature with such... concerning habits. Well executed, mate. 👍
Thank you so much Joshua! I'm so glad you liked it!
How do they see? I noticed they have Darkvision, but they don't seem to have eyes. Should that be blindsight instead?
Good question Dr.Whippersnatch! Maybe they've got little eyes in the palms of their hands or maybe blindsight would work as you say!
