Hi Is there a way of extending the TX capability of this radio. I have one and am curious if it could TX on say pmr 446 as at present it shows as an error if out of TX range. cheers for the video.
I purchased this radio from you and it's great, the only issue I'm having is the programming software, I get an unsupported operation error when it starts, I click ok and I can connect/ read from the radio, but it crashes as soon as I click the Channel edit button. I'm on Win 7. I couldn't find the software anywhere but your site. I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something (like an update). Any ideas?
I am seriously considering purchasing this radio, and so far the price on your site is the lowest I've found, I do have a question however, How does this work with an antenna? I heard you mention something about a build in triplexer? does this mean that the radio will tune itself with an antenna so as to be able to use the same antenna for all bands? or does this require an antenna switcher? sorry I only recently obtained my license and I'm pretty new to these super multi function radio's. I currently only have a dual band HT. Thanks for this video it is very informative. 73's KD0WJZ
you need to have a Quad Band antenna if you want all 4 bands on one antenna i.e. Comet do a nice quad band antenna
www.cometantenna.com/products.php?CatID=1&famID=4&childID=6
or you will need a switch for multiple antennas in to one rig.

Martyn Allison That is what I was thinking, but wasn't too sure. Thank you, Now the biggest hurdle, convincing the Wife. ... ... ...! Thanks again, and 73's KD0WJZ
That's a bummer that AM TX isn't an option anymore. Did it actually work on your model?
it did and does with the current models I have here in stock
Can you tell me please how the Cross-Band Repeater works. The only Video what i see was a Video where is a Papagei repeating from this Radio but no 1:1 Repeating so i need this Function and if it is over a RAM sampled delay it is not a Cross-Band Repeater. Best Regards Volker
I have the owners manual on my site for download, if you read it, it will tell you how to cross band repeat in any direction on any band www.radio-mart.net

Hello i had read the Manual from the T9800 there is written nothing about the delay in this Manual but a Video on UA-cam show that. In this Video is a Crossband Repeater enabled from 70cm to 11m but there is no direct out hearable only a delayed Papagei that repeat that what you'r talking in first on the 70cm Band. That said there are no Filters buildin for a Normal 1:1 Repeater Mode. 73
What is the antenna connector type? I'm considering this radio and will need to know if I need to order an adaptor of some sort. Thanks!
Its an SO259 common connector
Thanks!
Does the batch you have in right now transmit on AM..?? If so how long could I expect the shipping to be to 79924 if ordered tomorrow? I am going out of town in two weeks...
no the AM TX has been disabled in the past few batches, If ordered tomorrow we would ship tomorrow and it would be with you in 3 days or less

Martyn Allison Is there a way to re-enable AM TX on the TH-9800
None will TX on AM
Were shipping the day orders are received
Martyn, thanks for an informative video, this looks a good buy, especially here in the UK at the moment, not much difference to the US. Like most hams just got to convince the XYL I need another radio! Admired your shirt, are you ex RAF?
Per ardua es best 73's de G0RGF (Dave

David Anderson I have my shack broken down for now, remodeling the house etc but will be back soon
hi martyn can you change screen colour like the 9000 model many thanks
no the rig is a fixed color for now
You've got me curious now. Can you transmit AM? I've only seen specs for AM receive for aircraft band.
Yes the one I tested switched to AM on demand in the menu
Martyn Allison the production models do not and cannot TX on AM only receive AM
Thanks for the reply and info Martyn. Would of be nice for 10 and 6 meters, but I figured that maybe a stretch.
jbh185 the AM TX is no longer available only AM receive, that will go for all future production models
Martyn Allison the batch just in seems to TX on AM again ? guess its hit and miss
got one from radiomart, and, immediately handed it over to an experienced HAM user, who eagerly ran power and function tests on all 4 bands. here's what he reported: 50W (+/- 2W) on all bands (performing better than spec). Internal speaker, absolutely non-functional, however, external speaker plug functioning fine (not entirely an issue for me, as I plan on running on an external speaker so that I can keep the unit itself out of the way. handmic was found to be good quality, though users could hear everything going on around the tester, so, something to be mindful of. Only big issue found, was that in the 10m band, the frequency was picking up and broadcasting 10khz higher than what the radio was displaying it was on (28.550 on screen, radio a few houses down was broadcasting on 28.560 was the way it was explained to me.) while that's certainly an issue, knowing that it's the case mostly solves the issue. The radio DID however have several frequencies pre-programmed in it prior to my receiving, so, given that the internal speaker isn't working, and there are already frequencies pre-loaded and stored, he's thinking that I received a used radio vs a new radio.
