After this, i usually add some bee's or carnauba wax and melt it with heat gun till wood absorb it. A little polish with a rough cloth and slicker is ready to work! ;)

Burnishing solves many issues
Will applying some kind of wood oil to the burnisher work similar to this trick?
I don't believe it would, no.

Would it be safe to assume that a harder/denser wood like oak would make a better burnisher than a softer type like pine?
Yes, a tight and less varied grain will give the best result.
My wooden tool it's Round. Maybe it's better? 🤔
I do the same thing to a round burnisher too. Round burnishers are best for curved edges and straight burnishers for straight edges.
