I have been using one of these for over 13 years and I still love it. It is the greatest standalone hardware digital workstation ever made.

Ross Gerti no it's not. It has way too much TRS inputs and not near enough XLR 's,which is total BS.The only good thing about these machines are they last forever.

You can always put the optional xlr expansion cards in it. Or run modern external converters via the digital i/o cards with as many xlr's as you want. It is an old, but very flexible machine.

Thanks for the tutorial videos! I love this machine. I would rather have something that I can turn the knobs and faders instead of just a screen on a laptop (I am 71 years old and somewhat old school.) I recorded, mixed, and mastered an album on this machine after I first got it. That being said, I haven't used it for a while and forgot everything I ever learned. It's very complicated and you can forget quickly. I now want to do some live videos and have to go back to step 1. I would also advise finding an old serial mouse. The locator arrows are time consuming and annoying. But stick with the manual and tutorials - the results will be pleasing. Also, don't try to move the levers unless you are sure what you are doing. They are controlled by the level you are in - input, monitor, etc. They are controlled automatically and you will damage them if try to move them manually. Good luck!

Hello friend! I was wondering if you guys would be up for a quick tutorial as I cannot figure out how to record onto CD Roms with the AW4416 for the life of me. Would be willing to compensate you for the time!

From experience, I'd avoid writing your masters to CD using the AW - it's painfully slow and more than one person has noticed that the final product seems to lose quality. The workaround options are much faster and better. You can go out digitally to a computer or even stereo analog works fine.

what's the sampling rate it uses in the routing stage ? Is it higher or lower than the sampling rate to hard disc ? It seems as though there's alot of sampling stages in this desk: sampling input/ sampling pre or post bus/ sampling to disc/ etc...
With current PC's (as of 2016), a USB 3.0 BOB will achieve 24bit/ 196 on unlimited tracks with much smarter processing plugins in either Cubase, Logic or even Ableton. Why would anyone consider this obsolete device and the unnecessary complexities ?
There's much easier, less expensive, and better performing options with future upgrade capability. This device is a dead end.

+ween69 No disrespect to you personally. I actually think you did a great job demonstrating the product. Just think it's a desk weight with what's available presently. Cheers-

It's not as bad as you might think. Internally it works with 32 bit except for the eq stage which is even 44 bit. And with the Waves Y56K you also have the professional plugins running on it's own dsp's. It's rock stable. Ok, it's old school recording with old tech, but for the snobs who judge equipment just by looking at the numbers: It's the sound that counts. But listen for your self. This album is done on a O2R, which is basically the same tech as the aw4416: James Taylor - Hour glass.
