For a year, I pressed so hard on my strings that I started to wear out the fingerboard. I was also clenching my jaw!
It's no wonder I made such slow progress! These are great tips, Lora. Thank you.

Glad it's helpful. It's amazing how much a little bit too much pressure can really impede your progress.

Yes, moving a bit (swaying in time with music) while playing helped me. Especially in front of other people. And lighter finger pressure helped also.

I recall when I started playing the violin , I found myself clenching my teeth , not so much recently . You definitely carry over some of your ' usual ' tensions when you pick up an instrument , just the fact that you've picked up the instrument - as fun as it is , doesn't mean all your other 'habits ' disappear right away ; so , I'm going to try to stop tensing my shoulder the next time I'm waiting in the grocery line 😀 Good video

So true! Hope you can get more relaxed in the grocery store line (that's probably the one place for me that tenses me up the most :)

I'm not used to walking around, people think I'm under hypothesized or smt 😂. But breathing is certainly useful, sometimes I feel like I connect to the strings 😊 will try to apply more. Thanks for your wonderful contribution ❤

Opening the mouth and walking around made a difference for me. Also light touch then increasing pressure of left fingers. Thanks

I do most of the suggestions. Lately I've been working on my breathing, not to reduce tension but to try and get over a nasal huming tic I developed a while back. Really been messing up my flow state, but getting better.

I think we all underestimate how important breathing is, especially, as you mentioned for that natural flow.
