why is india? using this type of coupler system? . the loco has modern US style coupler.... (sounds like a modified SD-70) safety is job 3??? would not want to be in a crash with that style car
This type of coupling system is used in older coaches, which is being gradually phased out and are being replaced with CBC couplers which has higher standards of safety. Thanks for watching this video and please subscribe for more such videos

@@KakanSarkar passenger cars have lights and other devices that need to be powered. Deltic (diesel eletric) loco has generator, so it is just perfect to power it, but need to be plugged.
@hvnterblack, the train the video was a passenger train comprising of SLR and general coaches. Power sources of the fans and lights don't come from the Locomotive. Thanks for watching the video and please suscribe for more such videos
This Locomotive didn't have any Auxiliary Power Unit. Even if it had, there would be no electrical connection between the Locomotive and the coaches. APU is used to save Locomotive fuel in stationary condition of the Locomotive and to supply adequate air pressure to the Loco and the train.

@@KakanSarkar , why is that sharp increase in sound happening can you explain?
Its because of the increase in the RPM of the engine (automatically), in order to create air pressure faster with the help of air compressor.

What's the difference between shunting and coupling? I think attaching the hook must be called coupling. But then, what's shunting?
