When I was a teen, I went camping for my church youth group. I was kinda the odd one out. The first night, everyone laid down and were chatting for a good 2-3 hours. I gathered the courage to add to the conversation. After I finished (it was a 5-second comment), no one spoke for a good two or three minutes. Then, one of the popular youths went "yeah, we should sleep now." I was mortified. Even the leaders the next morning commented on how surprised they were that we went to sleep sooner than they'd imagined.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if it's just a UK thing! I've hung around pretending to look at shelves for ages if the queue situation is a bit ambiguous. One time I was the only one in a queue at a shop, then someone who came in didn't see me and started their own queue. The person ahead of us was finishing, I panicked and just left the shop without getting my stuff. Couldn't bear the awkwardness of figuring out who should go first, too embarrassing.

Oh gods, only yesterday I was waiting my turn for the courier's office. There was only one person waiting before me, so I paced a bit and paused at a patch of sunlight on the other side of the door from where he was waiting. And then a lady came from across the street, and looked back and forth between us, clearly confused, and so not only did I have to give up my patch of sunlight, but awkwardly pretend I was "oh, so casually" just moving around, to place myself behind the man that was first in line.
And as if that wasn't bad enough, she went on to make a comment, I was forced to respond to with a vague affirmative noise, because I had my earphones on and didn't hear a word she said.
Someone wished me on my bday and I accidentally said "same to you" 😅

the other day at school it was icy outside and i had just walked into the gym from outside. i slipped and fell in front of several people. one of my friends tried to catch me but failed. the worst part was that it happened right in front of my crush. i didn't really mind though. i was dying laughing 🤣

There's 3 situations in this song where the act of asking a question and getting a reply that was 'undesired' (chair, mac n cheese order and place in line) was presented as humiliating... I don't think that's fair for any human being.
Asking questions is a good thing! If you feel bad for not getting what you want, that's totally fair. It does not, however, make asking the question itself a faux pas.

Agreed. Not embarrassing. I'll ask "are you the end of the line?", and when they say yes I'll reply nice and chipper "oh! Well I guess I am now" as I step up behind them.😊 At which point they may ignore me or may be the friendly sort & we'll chat.
Honestly wouldn't be surprised if it's just a UK thing! I've hung around pretending to look at shelves for ages if the queue situation is a bit ambiguous. One time I was the only one in a queue at a shop, then someone who came in didn't see me and started their own queue. The person ahead of us was finishing, I panicked and just left the shop without getting my stuff. Couldn't bear the awkwardness of figuring out who should go first, too embarrassing.

my tip is: think of all the times someone has done something embarrassing near you. You probably think about it for a minute, maybe chuckle, and move on. Others probably do the same for you.

My most fucking one was when on my way to school I thought I heard someone calling me from behind (Being partially deaf) I thought there was no one or that they were calling someone else. I keep hearing "Zoey!", "Zo!!" Then I turned back (without my glasses) I saw a person but they didn't seem familiar to me. I ran away from there as fast as possible and then when I started to walk more slowly someone grabbed my shoulder... It was just my friend since we were only 5 years old and she just wanted to say hello. I felt bad after tho- That was two years ago, I think; nowadays we are not really friends anymore and I think that this incident is partly to blame.
