I find "Cosmic Journey" as one of the best Cosmology documentary series. Narrated by the best in the business Dick Rodstein. The only downside to this and other documentaries dealing with this subject is the information is outdated so quickly. Which can also become an upside since our knowledge is expanding along with the Multi-verses,

I am not particularly religious but would like to point out that science and religion are not mutually exclusive in fact to say that God started the big bang is just as good an explanation as any because from a scientific point of view we may never know how or why the universe was created. These videos are not here to prove or disprove religion - far from it - they are here to help us understand the universe from a physical point of view. I love these videos and have been religious from time to time. The Bible is not entirely literal by the way I wish more religious people could understand this.

If you can only see so far and you can't see anything beyond that including other bubble universes, I don't think dark energy is all that mysterious. Beyond the visible is a LOT of energy and mass. the multiverse.
+vanscoyoc No, they are saying that at a certain point light itself cannot travel the distance from 1 particle to the next let alone object. The simple fact is light is a constant speed, there for if light does not increase in speed but the distance it needs to travel during its finite life span before losing all energy and disappearing from reality continuously increases at some point traveling from point A to B would be impossible. Also we can only see so far out into the void of space and only so far in to the actual big bang before everything is obscured.

And you are most likely correct, we probably will never "fully" understand something as complex as this Universe. But we can continue to expand our knowledge & adjust our theories as we find better ways to visualize it. Maybe someday we'll even find a way to visualize the currently invisible forces other than through indirect theory and observations. What Einstein thought was that the cosmological constant or "fudge factor" did not expand the universe, it only made the universe static and unchanging. Now they are getting back to the idea that it exists but it plays a larger role by expanding the universe.

Its not only expressed by math. They did an experiment where they took gyros and held them on a satelite orbiting earth. The gyros were facing directly against earth but gradually, over time they became crooked and faced sligthly by the earth like the earth was twisting space like a fabric.

Nothing is faster than light in space, but space itself is not so limited. The two basic principles of cosmology are that space is homogenious on a large scale and isotropic. If these principles hold for every point, then the universe must be infinite.

The "God Squad" aside, your beloved Science has been treading towards dogma the past half century, and has become just as absurd and laughable. The object moving away is not moving at the speed of light, whereas the light it emits is. The light is not moving away but is coming from an object that is travelling away from us in relative terms. It's the same thing as if I was standing in the back of a very fast truck travelling away from you, holding a light source that emits light in all directions. If you measured the light very carefully, it would appear slightly redder than the same light if the truck were not moving.
Think of it like this, as light travels towards you at the speed of light, the galaxy is moving away from you at whatever the galaxy’s speed is, so when you receive the light you are getting a frame of the galaxy of where it was when it first emitted that light. That’s why when we are looking at the stars; we are saying we are looking back in time, because by the time we receive the light the galaxy is no longer in that position.

"What are we expanding into" is a question which presupposes a lot of things that cannot be presupposed. You have no basis to assume there is anything to "expand into."

Basically the whole idea rests on the observation that black holes seem to have an infinitely dense singularity at the center, and the big bang seems to have begun with an infinitely dense singularity, so perhaps the two phenomena are related somehow.

The age of the observable universe is 13.7 billion light years old. The commoving distance from Earth to the edge of the observable universe is about 46 billion light years radial. The commoving distance is similar to proper distance but since we can’t see the exact distance of a galaxy from us, because we are looking back in time, we are estimating the distance from us to the ‘edge of the universe’ based on the rate of expansion of the universe.
How surprisingly wonderful to watch a movie about incredibly smart people who have dedicated their lives to explaining space who openly admit they have not got a clue. Like trying to explain the Theory of Relativity to a cockroach (who may or may not actually be interested) many of our attempts to explain what we think we can see are actually in vain. The phenomenon of evolution is 100% confirmed - there simply is no debating that well-established fact. The theory behind what's happening and the processes involved with this process - that's the part that is still being hammered out. Most of the theory formulating our understanding of the establish, confirmed phenomenon, has stood the test of time quite well.
It is my belief as a scientist, that we understand less than 1\10^33 percent of the Universe as of now, the higher percentage estimate at 5%, and the lower at approximately zero. As a good scientist, you must be somewhat confident, but also somewhat humble.

I must admit that I find it somewhat disturbing to contemplate the idea that our descendants (and/or those of some other beings!) may look out into the universe and see mostly a void. At some point, they will only see their own galaxy, believing what we believed in 1900: that that's all there is to the universe. They will know nothing of the Hubble constant, or dark matter or energy, or the big bang, or even other galaxies! Sobering. I can only take consolation that perhaps their science and technology will be orders of magnitude beyond ours - as well, perhaps, as their powers of reason. We have not found the epicenter for a big bang from which the universe is expanding or accelerating. 13,7 billion years ago may be 13.7 billion years into the future where those galaxies that appear to be disorganized or irregular might otherwise exist in a region of the universe that is formative in the process, as a result of an accelerated expanding universe. It is an interesting paradox in time and space. And in such a universe, it is therefore expanding and accelerating from any point.
What if Big bangs are happening all the time and we just happen to be in the middle of the one that created us, and cannot see beyond it yet, like being at the center of a gas cloud where you cannot see/measure beyond the first few feet. Just what I think, mass/energy in mass/energy out e=m>c to the power of infinity.
You're right, it's all a big puzzle. And it's soooooooo fascinating. Unfortunately, at the moment, studying the universe is like trying to study our whole planet by looking out through one window of a building. Many theories are made up to try and explain what they see, or think they see. I wish I could be around in years to come when they finally start travelling to other stars.

I find "Cosmic Journey" as one of the best Cosmology documentary series. Narrated by the best in the business Dick Rodstein. The only downside to this and other documentaries dealing with this subject is the information is outdated so quickly. Which can also become an upside since our knowledge is expanding along with the Multi-verses,

I am not particularly religious but would like to point out that science and religion are not mutually exclusive in fact to say that God started the big bang is just as good an explanation as any because from a scientific point of view we may never know how or why the universe was created. These videos are not here to prove or disprove religion - far from it - they are here to help us understand the universe from a physical point of view. I love these videos and have been religious from time to time. The Bible is not entirely literal by the way I wish more religious people could understand this.

If you can only see so far and you can't see anything beyond that including other bubble universes, I don't think dark energy is all that mysterious. Beyond the visible is a LOT of energy and mass. the multiverse.
+vanscoyoc No, they are saying that at a certain point light itself cannot travel the distance from 1 particle to the next let alone object. The simple fact is light is a constant speed, there for if light does not increase in speed but the distance it needs to travel during its finite life span before losing all energy and disappearing from reality continuously increases at some point traveling from point A to B would be impossible.
Also we can only see so far out into the void of space and only so far in to the actual big bang before everything is obscured.

I wonder if there will come a day when you can look at the comments of a video about physics and cosmology without seeing Xtians misinterpret (or should I say "abuse") those topics for theology, that being a sub-branch of literature and philosophy.
And you are most likely correct, we probably will never "fully" understand something as complex as this Universe. But we can continue to expand our knowledge & adjust our theories as we find better ways to visualize it. Maybe someday we'll even find a way to visualize the currently invisible forces other than through indirect theory and observations. That's the beauty of it all, we never stop trying to get a better understanding of things we think we understand.

What Einstein thought was that the cosmological constant or "fudge factor" did not expand the universe, it only made the universe static and unchanging. Now they are getting back to the idea that it exists but it plays a larger role by expanding the universe.

I wonder if that expansion from the origin of the universe and then the "snapping" back, is what creates a big bang for a subsequent universe? Or is the matter (and energy) being sucked into black holes, accumulating in a different plane, eventually building up enough energy and mass for another universe exploding into existence on that plane? Its not only expressed by math. They did an experiment where they took gyros and held them on a satelite orbiting earth. The gyros were facing directly against earth but gradually, over time they became crooked and faced sligthly by the earth like the earth was twisting space like a fabric.

The object moving away is not moving at the speed of light, whereas the light it emits is. The light is not moving away but is coming from an object that is travelling away from us in relative terms. It's the same thing as if I was standing in the back of a very fast truck travelling away from you, holding a light source that emits light in all directions. If you measured the light very carefully, it would appear slightly redder than the same light if the truck were not moving.
First time i watch a science program with a good soundscape.
Think of it like this, as light travels towards you at the speed of light, the galaxy is moving away from you at whatever the galaxy’s speed is, so when you receive the light you are getting a frame of the galaxy of where it was when it first emitted that light. That’s why when we are looking at the stars; we are saying we are looking back in time, because by the time we receive the light the galaxy is no longer in that position.

"What are we expanding into" is a question which presupposes a lot of things that cannot be presupposed. You have no basis to assume there is anything to "expand into."

Basically the whole idea rests on the observation that black holes seem to have an infinitely dense singularity at the center, and the big bang seems to have begun with an infinitely dense singularity, so perhaps the two phenomena are related somehow.

The age of the observable universe is 13.7 billion light years old. The commoving distance from Earth to the edge of the observable universe is about 46 billion light years radial. The commoving distance is similar to proper distance but since we can’t see the exact distance of a galaxy from us, because we are looking back in time, we are estimating the distance from us to the ‘edge of the universe’ based on the rate of expansion of the universe.

The phenomenon of evolution is 100% confirmed - there simply is no debating that well-established fact. The theory behind what's happening and the processes involved with this process - that's the part that is still being hammered out. Most of the theory formulating our understanding of the establish, confirmed phenomenon, has stood the test of time quite well.
It is my belief as a scientist, that we understand less than 1\10^33 percent of the Universe as of now, the higher percentage estimate at 5%, and the lower at approximately zero. As a good scientist, you must be somewhat confident, but also somewhat humble.

I must admit that I find it somewhat disturbing to contemplate the idea that our descendants (and/or those of some other beings!) may look out into the universe and see mostly a void. At some point, they will only see their own galaxy, believing what we believed in 1900: that that's all there is to the universe. They will know nothing of the Hubble constant, or dark matter or energy, or the big bang, or even other galaxies! Sobering. I can only take consolation that perhaps their science and technology will be orders of magnitude beyond ours - as well, perhaps, as their powers of reason. It is an interesting paradox in time and space. And in such a universe, it is therefore expanding and accelerating from any point.
What if Big bangs are happening all the time and we just happen to be in the middle of the one that created us, and cannot see beyond it yet, like being at the center of a gas cloud where you cannot see/measure beyond the first few feet. Just what I think, mass/energy in mass/energy out e=m>c to the power of infinity.
Thats what i think. Maybe "big bangs" are created by massive dark holes around the universe.

You're right, it's all a big puzzle. And it's soooooooo fascinating. Unfortunately, at the moment, studying the universe is like trying to study our whole planet by looking out through one window of a building. Many theories are made up to try and explain what they see, or think they see. I wish I could be around in years to come when they finally start travelling to other stars.
