for anyone who still wants to do this but cant find pe foam, tissues work great. Just make sure you get clean tissues with no moisture (i would wash hands, sanitise and dry) and then just lay the tissues in as flat as possible, as many layers as you would like just so you can fit the PCB back in, and it works just the same.

Love the vid, but I find with the tape mod it often works better and gives a deeper thock with more layers of tape I did it on my Rk61 and it sounds much better and I used 3 layers of tape thats all you really need but you could probably add more if wanted.
Yeah for sure! From my experience, it made every switch sound similar so for the 2 boards that I tape modded, 1 layer is enough to preserve some switch personality haha
Tape mod is fucking trash. It doesn't "give a deeper thock" is just makes the keyboard sound waterlogged. It sounds like you chucked your keyboard in saltwater and then took it out and started typing. Godawful mod.
I think 2 or even one layers are enough, having more eliminates the sound u originally look for with tapes, which is the vibration of the bubbles of air between the pcb and the tape aswell as the tape itself, think of the tape as a really wide string or stretched cloth, when plucked it makes that poppy noise
Thanks for the help! My keyboard sounds really nice now. But I had a bit of a problem because I use a different one and it was the positioning of the stabilizers and then I realised I didn't need to poke the holes but anyways thanks!!!

@@草っているる花 idk if thisd help but push your switches and plate together the pins might not be touching pcb, if that doesnt work switches are bent probably
I feel like in such tape mod videos people should be recommending the right type of tape. If you buy the wrong type of masking tape you will absolutely destroy/fry your board. You need one that's not conductive. And unfortunately there is very, very little information about which ones are and aren't conductive. I want to do the tape mod on all my boards. But I'm not sure what tape to use. And even hipyo uses tape that's slightly conductive and might ruin your board. Something that he keeps telling people while he keeps using the same tape.
@@leo._.vincent lmao mine wasnt even proper foam just some paper shit that i found and was still too thick so i had to only put like one small piece in a part of the case that dips slightly lower :D i also just lubed my stabs and doesnt make a big difference
I'd use a thicker piece of foam than that in the video, usually the foam that comes from packaging tomatoes, you can get some from your grocery store or restaurant when they're throwing it out; one layer for the face and 3 for the back (one will be taped down to the base of the case with double side tape); then I'll tape the same foam inside the space bar, shift, and enter keys; now the keyboard makes a nice quiet thocking noise .... but it's nothing compare to the Logitech k70 (the first batch that came out, not the later batches that came out years later) that was near silent, it only got squeeky after 13 years of use, and the plastic became to brittle to risk taking the keys off and lubing the sisscor switches. .
Is tape mod safe? I just dive in this keyboard moding world, so do u recommend to do it ? I just add the pe foam to my keyboard and its already sound more marbly, im about to do the tape mod but its kinda risky right? What do u think ? Lov your vid btw ❤
