The anime "Muv Luv alternative: total eclipse" is a spin off of the visual novel "Muv Luv Alternative".
completely different stories within the same universe.

The anime was there to promote the Total Eclipse visual novel. There will be another Muv-Luv anime out, but it will also be on another story (this time set in a divided Germany).
