    I’m so glad my generation and younger came to the realization that family can be your biggest enemy and it’s okay to cut them off. If they ever remade this movie, I hope it ends with Terri taking her money and getting away from all of them.

    Terri was definitely the victim. They put all the financial burden of Big Moma's house and hospital bills solely on her even though Bird and Lem lives there and Big Moma had money hidden this whole time, she paid for Birds shop and wedding, got 2 of her men stolen by her sister and cousin, and they still act ungrateful and rude to her. I'm not letting Big Mama off the hook for this. She CLEARLY has a Golden Child AND a Scapegoat. Poor Terri! I have half a fanfic written where she takes the bar in another state and leaves ALL these people in her rearview on her way to NYC, or LA or ATL. Her family treats her like dirt. No wonder she feels the need to remind them of how much they rely on her so often. And don't get me started on that garbage pile she's married to. He took FIVE THOUSAND out of their JOINT ACCOUNT without telling her??? He quit his job, again without telling her???? He didn't think she needed to know she was about to be a sole provider for his pipe dreams?
    Also, did you notice how when Ahmad was telling everyone that Big Mama told him where the money was Terri was the only one who he approached about things that would be helpful to the whole family, and not just herself? She was too good for this family. JUSTICE FOR TERRI!

    Thank you for this reaction. Rewatching this movie as an adult i’ve come to the realization that the family treated Terri like garbage. They used & abused her. The movie made Terri look like the villain because of her standoffish demeanor. The reason why she was negative Nancy was because Max stole her boyfriend & married him, the family made her pay for everything & her marriage was on the rocks. Max was a lowkey bum. Bird was probably still messing around with Simuel because she didn’t set any boundaries & she went behind her husband’s back to Simuel to get him a job. That was a real group. How would you feel if you got into it with your spouse then your sister comes and interferes by setting your spouse up to get beaten on. Lem having a gun played a role, but if she didn't set him up He NEVER would've went to jail that night AND Terry didn't apologize 4 doing it saying Lem should be thankful Terri got him out when she helped put him in AND told Lem Bird was pregnant when that wasn't her place either. Like Joe and Bird said Terry pay attention to your own man.

    Terri literally paid for 90% of the family finances. Financial stress is something they didn't even think about when they constantly hit her up. When she officially said no, they had the nerve to try to make her feel bad for it. She became a walking hell fire the moment her husband and cousin betrayed her trust. That crash out at the party was inevitable.

    Big Momma was the real villain & on top of that where’s the Loyalty in this Family ?? Cousin Faith won’t sh*t for screwing Teri’s husband Miles. Rewatching this as an Adult I now understand why Teri was Fed up. Her family basically used & abused her & Big Momma put a lot of pressure on her being that she was the oldest !!! Her sister Maxine stole her man & she paid for Bird’s Hair salon . One thing I got from this movie is that at the end of the day Loyalty is rare & Family needs to always stick together. Breaking generational curses/ cycles are REAL. We can’t HEAL what we won’t REVEAL!!

In the beginning Joe says "Terri stop running down your family" like her setting Lem up & STILL holding a grudge against Max & Kenny. Michael Beach was the quintessential “ain’t ish 🥷” of the 90’s cause he was always playing someone messed up. He was also an abusive husband on a music video for Stevie Wonder sometime around when this movie was made. Him and the dude that played Junior on players club was always on some bullsh*t.

    If this movie was remade today that would have been great because this movie is such a nostalgia classic from 27 years ago. Takes me back when I was little. You should do a reaction to Light it up which was also produced by Babyface and Tracey Edmonds just like this movie. The child actor who plays Ahmad deserves his flowers because he such a great actor as a kid from the 90s. It’s too bad he hasn’t done a lot of movies but he’s my boy. Girl the way you was talking at 24:46 was annoying like be quiet. Lem just got out of jail so he’s nervous talking to his wife.

    Terri got did so dirty, was she snooty yes but they had no right to treat her pockets like the bank, and despite her sister stealing her boyfriend she's never missed a big moment in her sister's life and even put her feelings aside about her husband cheating on her to come to her sister's anniversary party. She's so much stronger than me and also I was rooting for her to poke his ass a good 2-3 times before they caught her lol he deserved it. You don't get a right to cheat because you're unhappy but then you waited until a Sunday dinner to even tell your wife that your were unhappy how did that make sense?!? and yeah they're a mess.

  • @Zorant0Zero
    @Zorant0Zero 10 місяців тому +11

    To be a bit objective about Terri's marriage it was rocky from the start of the movie. I am not condoning her husband cheating but she constantly pushes him away emotionally and treated him more like a child than a spouse. To me if she had at least gone to the music show, even if she wasn't into it, it would have helped him stay faithful to her and not slip towards Faith. Again not saying he was in the right but when you start to neglect your partner they might say looking elsewhere

      To be more objective about the situation, Miles was the biggest jack ass to exist. He knew her struggle and knew she was taking financial responsibility for the whole family after essentially being emotionally manipulated by her mama into taking care of the family with no help but, potentially him, for years. But he did not care what type of strain his wife was under because he didn't feel like working as a lawyer part-time just to make sure his drowning in bills wife didn't stress herself to death. He didn't even understand why she had to work overtime to keep people's roofs over their heads instead of going to his shows. Bby get someone to film them for her hello.

Her husband stole her boyfriend and MARRIED him, her cousin screwed the husband she DID marry, AND she was floatin' everything from weddings to businesses to whole households while gettin' gaslit the whole time. They drove her crazy!

    5.5 plates. You know what you're in for from the beginning though. Rewatching as an adult I was like, why on earth did Bird marry him right when he got out of prison. Let him establish himself first. Then I was like... how did these unwelcome people even get inside of the wedding reception like that.... like you said, a countless number of bad decisions though

      You judging a movie off the 'bad decisions' but movies are made for conflict lol... was it a good movie tho? Yeah it was... Just bc you got 'triggered' about a characters choice don't make the movie bad lol..

    • @thatdudegba
      @thatdudegba 10 місяців тому +2

      @@HD00957 why you coming at me so hard for my opinion lol? I liked the movie as a kid, I didn't as an adult. I didn't give it a zero lol... sheesh! Why do people have to make stupid decisions from start to finish to have a movie progress. That is not the only way to create a movie "Jumping the Broom" had drama and was entertaining and didn't have all the nonsense that went on in Soul Food. Obviously characters won't always make the correct decisions but if you're rolling your eyes the entire movie, that does not make it enjoyable or relatable. Greenleaf was a whole show with several seasons with nothing but family drama and dumb decisions, but it's extremely enjoyable. My opinion lol.
