The stickiness of Yadier Molina's chest protector is demonstrated at 2:30 and 11:50. It helped him in the first case, and confused him in the second case. Molina is now retired but, In any event, sticky protectors should not be allowed.
the clips at 0:19 & 1.:27 are called a Detached equipment violations rule allowing all base runner to advance 1 base because a player can not use his hat or mask to touch a ball ( rule 506(b)(3)(E)
As someone who played left field, 3rd base, and catcher... I can say the most fun I had was catcher. Every play comes to you As a catcher.. Worse play seeing a kid getting hit in the face by our hardest pitcher. Blood all over. I met him a couple years later and found out he lost 2 teeth Funniest play was a wild pitch that hit the bar of the backstop and came right back to me. Runner took off for 3rd base. I threw it sidearm which put lateral spin on the ball. I watched it curve back toward the runner and hit him in the head. He was fine but it was funny
Thank you for making and sharing this. Great video collection of weird funny plays. Does anyone know why Jake Lamb got a free pass to home plate when the catcher had no control of the ball going in under his chest protector?? 4:35
Tony Pena was the best catcher ever, the guy threw out potential base stealers from a seated position. He started the throwing behind left-handed hitters to pick guys off of first who strayed to far after a pitch. Benito Santiago followed him with similar skills and then Yadier Molina. Mauer had mad instincts but his arm wasn't as strong as the other guys. All around I'd say Pena ten Mauer followed by the others. The Contreras brothers are really good but not great but William is only 26 and could get better.
This is exactly why the intentional walk should be actual pitches thrown, and NOT AUTOMATIC!!! (MILLENIAL GENERATION WITH NO ATTENTION SPAN SUCK!!)Dennis Martinex K'd him with trickery!!!

@@Baseballinsider Not if it's a home run. Then you just stand there and watch the ball leave the park...

6:55 that was a fair ball. LoL. Crazy, but true
Yes 😎
Yes, it was. All day long. I wish that clip was a little longer. I'd like to hear the announcers' explanation for why they thought it was a foul ball.
0:57, you can hear him say "I caught it!"
Yes
Whose the UMP who caught the catchers mask😊
Looks like Angel Hernandez did it twice. About the only thing he is good at.
8:40 that ball touched the ground

I have also seen it the other way when the batter gets a hit on swinging at the out of zone pitch!!
100% agree. Shout out from AA county
Baseball announcers are particularly stupid.
