Imagine getting everyone on the planet to play this full blast at the same time, the sound reverberating through to the earth's core, sending epic riffage out through the universe
Matt pike is a fucking god. Met the legend at the 1st year Sounds of the Underground in Atl happened. I was barely 18. HOFs set changed my life amd how i viewed metal. Never looked back.
I'm so mad I missed this group. But so glad. It's all new to me. Every album will be bought. There's nothing like finding a big fat fucking diamond in the rough. This band fucking makes me want to rip mattress tags off. Lol. This is some good fucking music here. I'm mad at myself for not looking up shit. Was on a big 15 year meshuggah kick
The drums at the beginning remind me of Demon's Gate by Candlemass then the bass comes in all Sabbathy and wham the last layer of fuzzy guitars comes on and boom High on Fire sludgy goodness.
I've seen them 4 times live myself in the Detroit area! Now 60 I've seen it all in R&R and Metal since listening to the first back in 1955-56! I feel i can safely say I am an expert with a pro ear and this is how i would put it: Phil Spector years ago had what they called the "Wall of Sound"! HOF: TSUNAMI OF SOUND"! Spector's Wall on 'ROIDS!!!
"What happens when you die?" Person 1: I think we all go to heaven. Person 2: I think we are reborn anew into another body. Me: I don't know but I hope it involves 10,000 years or more in silent, jet-black meditation. I could use a break.
10,000 years or more In jet black meditation Sonic Tempress hears no more And hands me my salvation Walking thru the piles of life Ignore all accusation Now I stand here hands are sore But thats my motivation The vision never died The earthling walked in flight 10,000 Years or more In jet black meditation Now I stand here hands are sore But thats my reputation
Cool song. Paints a picture. I see the Romans and Greeks walking up to the battle lines. Both groups can see that their lives will likely be gone momentarily. But neither are backing down. Charge! And it's on.
Imagine invading iraq and blasting this song.... or laying out at night under the stars in a huge empty desert..... I don't have to imagine it.... I just remember it
@gex2josh Sorry for the late reply. Yeah they played a sick gig here in ABQ w/ Kylesa, but they didn't play this song or "Fireface", mostly stuff from the new album. but those songs still kicked ass, and matt Pike is the quintessential metal front man, metal face and all.
Imagine getting everyone on the planet to play this full blast at the same time, the sound reverberating through to the earth's core, sending epic riffage out through the universe

Sounds like a mix between Melvins and Motorhead! Badass, great band
That signature Melvin drum beat.
This song is a perfect example why High on fire is one of the most lethal bands on this Planet.
Matt Pike riffs are always perfect for "the slow 'bang"
I could listen to that intro for years
Alphawolf299 for Ten Thousand Years?

They didn’t play it when I saw them and I almost cried
Matt pike is a fucking god.

Matt Pike is America's Lemmy
The opening riff is enough to seal this song.
this song has always existed
10,000th listen still feels like the 1st.
Mold the riff, and then be like, "drummer, there you are." - Matt Pike, 2002
damn, every time I come back to this track it blows me away so good
The drums at the beginning remind me of Demon's Gate by Candlemass then the bass comes in all Sabbathy and wham the last layer of fuzzy guitars comes on and boom High on Fire sludgy goodness.

When your neighbor starts up his lawn mower and for a split second you thought there was another metal head on the block.
Feel the groove
ohhh the heaviness....It's like being underneath a dying sun....
When the levy breaks
When I first heard this song my reaction was "this is by far the coolest fucking song I've ever heard" especially 4:20 till the end
drooling...head going cooky.
one of the heaviest ever. EVER.
Song is dope. That intro beat is pulled almost straight from some old Helmet..

Man, I'm pretty drunk and this is the first thing I thought of..

Riffs at 5:00 and accompanying bass runs are fucking incredible, can't believe I haven't given this band a chance until now
Excellent playlist.
High on Fire is THE buzz!
Sludgiest song in existence! 🤘🤘
"What happens when you die?"
Person 1: I think we all go to heaven.
Person 2: I think we are reborn anew into another body.
Me: I don't know but I hope it involves 10,000 years or more in silent, jet-black meditation. I could use a break.
10,000 years or more
In jet black meditation
Sonic Tempress hears no more
And hands me my salvation
Walking thru the piles of life
Ignore all accusation
Now I stand here hands are sore
But thats my motivation
The vision never died
The earthling walked in flight
10,000 Years or more
In jet black meditation
Now I stand here hands are sore

Only HOF did it before that overrated band with the cranky leader.

Cool song. Paints a picture. I see the Romans and Greeks walking up to the battle lines. Both groups can see that their lives will likely be gone momentarily. But neither are backing down. Charge! And it's on.
WOW!
That kick drum is kickass🤟🤟🤟
Gonna see High on Fire with Torche and Kylesa tomorrow night at the Launchpad in ABQ. It's gonna be heavier than a Gravitron ride.
Buzzsaw guitar heaven !!!!!
Heaviest drum intro since When The Levee Breaks. Now that's saying something when you're comparing a cat to John Fucking Bonham.
The riffs from this song remind me of just about every song off of Cathedral's album 'Endtyme"... Which nevertheless was a bomb ass album. \,,/
Iommi>Gaz Jennings>Pike.
Hell yeah! It bangs my brain thru my eyeholes! Like it!
The best album by High on Fire..imho
Love the heavy bass riff intro!
those sacred shrooms add to the inhale of fire experience too.. give it a whirl!
The beginning sounds just like a history of bad men by the melvins
heaviness=love for my ears
I thought it was like so:
>Blues.
>Rock.
>Rock 'n Roll.
>Hardrock.
>Metal.
this is the best song in the world.
Everyone is here is awesome.
Few people will have heard this but the 3 song demo that first featured this tune had a far superior version....
