I think a lot of people misunderstand the term "zero waste". Its more about being sustainable and "thinking before you buy", than actually reaching absolutely zero waste. Buzzfeed can make a video of a horse taking a dump and it will still be trending with some crazy fan praising how amazing the horse was for taking a dump because the horse is on buzzfeed lol

You can use left over pie dough to make crust cookies! Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top of the extra dough and bake it at the same time as the pie, then at the halfway mark take the cookies out and enjoy those while your pie is finishing :)

Unfortunately the misconceptions about what you can and can't recycle are making our recycling unusable. The fruit stickers should be biodegradable, but even if the foil could separate, it's not fit for recycling. Sometimes more packaging can make an item more recyclable because quite often parts of packaging that come into contact with a food product are what makes it not recyclable. But it's confusing to figure out what can be and it can depend on where you are, not to mention many places still charge you money to do it and can make it an affordable act for many. There's been an issue here in the US in Portland recently regarding it's recycling and how China has stopped buying it because of how contaminated it's become. It's all a shame really.
I really love this vid cuz my family and I are trying our best to be eco friendly. Idk if this shop is available everywhere but at least it's available in California. It's called No Waste and Haste. They sell groceries like flour, sugar, salt that you can fill in your own glass reusable jars. Go green!

Could have used coconut oil instead of butter, it comes in a glass jar which you can reuse or recycle! Food waste can be composted, and I'm pretty sure food stickers are bio degradeable. Love that they did this video!
I don't see why apple cores, skin, and egg shells would be considered trash? It's organic material, you can compost it! Lots of zero-waste people compost their food scraps. Also if I remember correctly you can feed worms egg cartons. But I agree in most cases it's considered waste. Ps. I know in like the last minute the people at the table said you could just compost the apple stuff but for most of the video it went on as if an apple's core was the most wasteful thing ever.

Could have used coconut oil instead of butter, it comes in a glass jar which you can reuse or recycle! Food waste can be composted, and I'm pretty sure food stickers are bio degradeable. Love that they did this video!
It doesn't taste as good with pie. Butter has that, well, buttery taste and really makes the pie crust taste soo good.
And besides the butter wrapper didn’t technically go to waste, I mean she did make origami out of it

I don't see why apple cores, skin, and egg shells would be considered trash? It's organic material, you can compost it! Lots of zero-waste people compost their food scraps.
Also if I remember correctly you can feed worms egg cartons. But I agree in most cases it's considered waste.
Ps. I know in like the last minute the people at the table said you could just compost the apple stuff but for most of the video it went on as if an apple's core was the most wasteful thing ever.
At the start of the video there was a message saying "Food waste is not necessarily bad but for the sake of this challenge Rie will try to make NO waste."

@@gezelligheid5079 Yeah, but Rie still did really good with that. An apple tree produces apples which eventually fall, and some whole apples just rot, Rie made less food waste than an apple tree.
You can actually eat the core and throw the seeds on fertile land!
