Janmashtami, also known as Krishna Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, is a major Hindu festival in India and celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna, who happened to be the eighth incarnation or avatar of Lord Vishnu, the supreme God of the Hindus.
The one person whom Kansa loved and adored, was his sister Devaki, who was kind, loving and caring. Devaki’s marriage was fixed with a noble man named Vasudev. Once Devaki and King Vasudev were married, Kans decided that he would drive them home himself. He would honor them with a royal courtesy as per the traditions of the time. As Kans sat down on the chariot to drive them home, he heard a divine voice. The voice that came from the thundering sky announced “Oh Kansa why are you so happy? Beware the sister you love so much will give birth to son who will destroy you. The eighth son born to Devaki will kill you”. On hearing this Kansa burst into a rage. He said he would slay his sister before she gives birth to her eighth child. Vasudev begged Kansa, not to kill Devaki. He explained it is not justified for him to kill his own sister on her wedding day. He asked if he would spare Devaki’s life.

The last part needs a little correction as there were no celebrations immediately after the birth as kansa ordered to kill every child born in the time..also Yashoda mata and Nanda did not have the name Krishna..it was done by a Rishi..you can find the name..best presentation tho

We also need to remember that on Janmasthami there are 2 birthdays Lord Krishna as well as Goddess Vishnu Maya or Yogmaya's as well. Yoga maya or Vishnu maya was the sister of Lord Vishnu. Her sacrifice gave us Lord Krishna. A sister who was not acknowledged. But that's her maya as well.
Devaki's seventh child was not still born but it was made to appear as the pregnancy was misscarried. Only six children were killed by Kansa.

Nope. Vishnu Purana is all about Vishnu. Hare krishnas always confuse Krishna and Vishnu as separate. They are the same and come from the source, Vishnu. All deities are a reflection or expression of the Brahman, as mentioned in upinishads, puranas, gita, Vedas...the maha mantra should also only start with hare RAM not hare Krishna...Hari is the name of Vishnu

Dear Hindu Saga, please make a video on the whole Krishna's marriage stories. Why did he marry that many number of women? Why did he marry his cousin Mitravinda? Was it forceful as some people claim? Was incest okay according to Krishna's teachings? Also, what's with lord Brahma marrying his own daughter goddess Saraswati? Was she really his daughter? What's with the whole incest marriage thing in our Hindu culture? This is bothering me so much. Please make a video on this topic. 🙏🏻 and before anyone judges, I'm a hindu myself. Just want to learn more.
