SOME ADDITIONAL IDEAS FOR TEACHERS:
- I tell my ballerinas to bring their own teddy bears into class for this one and have a few spares ready for those who forget.
- Add in some travelling steps through the forest including side gallops, skips, classical walks etc
- With younger ballerinas, start with holding hands in a circle for the tendus, piques and pliés. Progressing to standing separately with hands on hips then adding arms in bras bas / second / fifth.
- Hide teddy bears under dancing scarves and have ballerinas tiptoe through the cave (along a line) one by one to find their teddies.
- I like to finish off this class with rocking teddy bears and putting them to sleep, then free dancing as ‘shooting stars’ across the night sky. With older ballerinas, I put a star foam shape on the floor in the middle of the studio and have the dancers leap over the star one by one.
