I don't have much money for Holiday gifts this year, and the video has allowed me to give my used but pristine phone, in original box, to someone I know who needs it this year for Christmas, and who's life would be helped immensely by owning a smart phone. I'm just an old curmudgeon, from another generation, but when I see stuff like this - DIY videos of people helping people just BECAUSE, I think things are moving in the right direction. I cant connect my htc with my laptop after i select fastboot at all, it's not saying anything either. Do I have to leave the screen in that fastboot mode?
Mine was showing after "fastboot oem get_identifier_token". Nothing was working. Then, i tried it on windows 7 and it worked perfectly. My suggestion maybe, you should try it on windows 7.

Okay I'm trying this again after 6 long months and I still have the same damn problem and haven't gotten a helpful answer from anyone. My phone is on Fastboot mode, I'm trying to unlock it but everything fails at step 5 on HTCdev. My phone simply does not connect with my laptop, it keeps saying that I connected an unknown decive, even after installing the drivers manually. Even when it installs them automatically it still says that msg and doesn't connect. So when I type in the prompt "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" it says fastboot can't be found or is written wrongly or something. htc one mini, win7

Niusha S.k. Hey! Did you install the HTCDriver_4.0.1.001 and HTC_BMP_USB_Driver_x64_1.0.5375? Both most be installed and make sure it's writting "Fastboot USB" on your HTC while you're doing step 5.
Worked like a charm on my HTC ONE M9 on Mar 14th 2021. Now I have to figure out how to install a current ANDROID . Some remarks: The htcdev-site was unresponsive with Firefox (Win7). Worked with IE, but veery slow. The unlock code showed up in my SPAM folder, but that's about it. Great video, Thanks a lot !

As a PSA for anyone else trying to do this in 2022 on a Windows 11 PC, I have a few things to add, which will make your life a lot easier than it was for me. (1) The USB drivers in the download won't work. Finding the right ones is a bit risky, as who knows what you will end up downloading from some dodgy website. I decided the best approach was to try and find a more recent UA-cam video that appeared to be a legit channel. Search for a video called "How to install HTC USB Driver" Channel nane "Android MTK" Go to his link and download the latest version. Unzip and install, and you will be in business. (2) Bringing up a command prompt as described in this video does not work in Windows 11. What I did was stick the Fastboot directory on my C drive, then run command prompt as administrator, and then cd to the fastboot directory. (3) This is a big one. When attempting to mark the text for copy, the default selection method is set to "end of line" meaning you will copy all the whitespace, as well as the actual token. To fix this, right click on the menu bar and select "Properties". Look at Text Selection options on the lower half of the screen and uncheck "Enable wrapping selection". You will now be able to mark and copy exactly as shown in the video. (4) The Fastboot directory already has an Unlock_code.bin in it. Make sure you delete or replace it with your own one! I am doing all this as I have been going through my small pile of old android devices and sticking newer custom ROM's on them. I'm by no means an expert at all of this, but so far I have not bricked anything, so hopefully that will also be the case for this HTC!

Works great! Took be a while since it kept saying "Searching for device" or something like that, but I found out I had to unlock usb debugging and make sure you have access to developer options. Took about an hour since I ran into that issue, but other than that everything worked great!

first of all, thanks A LOT for this video. i`ve tried the instructions on linux ubuntu, totally works but the fastboot program downloaded from HTCdev website did not work for some reason, all i had to do was installing fastboot form repos using apt. hope this additional info helps somebody.
If you have some marking problems in the token start, just right click then properties, go to options then find the text selection, uncheck the "enable line wrapping text selection". Aaaaaaand you're done. hope this helps! :D
Looking at your screen when going through the steps on HTC Dev, I'm not seeing why your options seem to go through Windows Explorer and mine are all done in Command Prompt. On top of that, there is not an option to proceed to Step 8. Ideas?
I have an AT&T Pre Production HTC One mini. I wanted to retrieve some deleted pictures so I was attempting to root the phone. Followed your clear instructions on how to unlock the boot loader. Went to HTC DEV and everything went perfect. until it rebooted. It just stays stuck on the Logo screen. Any options I select in the boot loader just makes the phone reboot over an over. Any options to save the phone?

you have to under the menu and check "allow htc synch" before synch software will load the phone, after that you have usb connectivity

This worked on my HTC 510. I chose the HTC desire 816 unlock from the HTC site and it worked just fine.

i have installed the htc drivers but when connecting the phone with usb in bootloader mode, the phone is not getting connected with the laptop
whenever I log into htcdev I press login with all my info and nothing happens... it sends me to home page not logged in... :( this is upsetting plz help

i was trying to unlock bootloader of htc 526 g plus bt by mistake i click on firmware upgrade with unlock scatter file now my phone was totally dead i trying to flash it but there was no showing connection for flash what can do now?

I do everything corectly and then on the final step it freezes when i go to press yes its doesn't respond and when i press no it works instantly.Do you have any ideas on how to fix this?Any commands or something?

how can you do this on a phone that wont boot properly? htc one mini 2 o2 uk, i've managed to do all the command stuff and the phone will give the yes or no unlock but after that it hangs on the phone recovery red triangle display then when you go back to fastboot it's still locked . . . . . . . . cant flash recovery or rom without unlocking cant unlock without flashing rom or recovery :(
Please help! I'm using my unlocked at&t HTC one overseas and everytime I tried to share my internet. it ask me to enable via at&t website or call 611. what's the best way to solve that problem. Should I root, s off or just unlock the bootloader. I'm not getting updates too.
