- Hi Guys,
We have two new additions which are Lavender Pekin Bantams. These chickens are a breed which are small and that have no larger counterpart. They have a rounder shape compared to a standard size chicken and have feathers covering their feet and legs. They came to us in a bad state but we have given them love and attention and we are looking forward to them flourishing with us.

Really enjoyed watching!😉 Your Dirty Lavender Chicken's! Glad you brought them home, cleaned them up! They will be Beautiful in no time! Lucky ,Y'all saved them! ✌️Tina,Georgia
So glad you have given them a loving and better home. Sickens me how these people raise them for financial gain and not taking the care and attention they need. Have you thought about reporting the breeder anonymously? There eggs will be rewarding once they start laying, a lot smaller in size but taste amazing. Look forward in watching them grow with you. The hen with a bad eye bathe with a moist tea bag, sounds balmy but it really does work.
G&B Allotment Vlogs thanks for the tip I will try that for sure,we have just been bathing in sterile water. It was sickening the environment they were in but already they have improved 👍
Full respect to you guys looking after the hens so much. I have 3 and I love em to bits
You can use antibiotic cream in her eye, according to our vet. You can buy over the counter at the store (Walmart).
What sweeties! I'm sure they will love their new home, good job guys! They certainly seemed to enjoy their baths. Nice plant haul! The plot is going to be beautiful this summer.
Denise M thank you 😊 the girls seem happier already now they are clean 🐥
You two are so good, rescuing the two new ones and so caring in getting them integrated. Hope, in time, the bigger, bossy hens let them be. 🐓 🐓
Linda B thank you. We tried again today but didn’t go well and they are so small we are thinking of just getting them there own coop🤔
diggingfordinner Oh that’s a shame, that the other girls are not accepting them but I know you’ll 100% do whatever to give them a safe, cared for home. They’re never ‘just hens’ to you and Kelly 😘🐓
Cluckingham Palace and Kensington Square. To cute. I raise bantie hens when I was younger. They turned out to be the dominate breed in my hen house. Just need a little more weight on them. They are great layers too.
Charlene Gunter They are only young and to be fair, with the amount of hens in the enclosure where they cane from I’d be surprised if they got much food, hopefully they will bloom
Hi Joe, i have been a fan of yours for sometime now. I cant wait to see what you do in your new shop. I know you are having trouble right now. Just know you have alot of people praying for you and your family. You can beat this. I know you can.
Awww, bless em they’re so cute. I did feel sorry for em though but I know you’ll both love them to bits so they’ve come to a great home. Hope the seller mends his ways or that someone has a heart enough to report him, they deserve a decent start in life & it’s sad they were kept in horrible conditions, sounds like it wouldn’t take much for him to make there lives a little better.
It's only me he has all the bases for a great set up,you could just tell he has no love and lost the care for giving them attention
Aww they gorgeous little ladies. lavender and Lace :)
Compost to Greens -Adele King 👍😊
Them hens are beautiful mate bless them
Dojo Allotment mayhem Fenwick thanks 👍😊
Hi, Jo, Kelly and ever extending family. Just catching up on your videos, great to see your newest members 🐔🐔 Last year with the really hot weather we had the dreaded red mite invasion and can highly recommend Red stop, it's on eBay and you just add to drinking water, initially for ten days and then once each week thereafter, it stops the mites being able to feed and so breed. Also DE powder can be bought in large bags for a very good price and like Kelly said, shake it into their dust bath and nest boxes and pretty much everywhere each time you clean. We poo pick each day to keep it nice for our girls (and us 😊) and find that prevention is much easier than a cure. Glad eye problem is sortin itself out, one of ours daffodil had a swollen eye and I just bathed for a few days with warm salty water and it cleared up, not usually a problem unless swollen eyes are accompanied by snotty nose it which case it's a vet visit as it could be microplasma which is nasty. Enjoy you guys and keep up the good work, have to say how lovely it is to see you two enjoying so much at your ages what it took me till I was in my forties to find, loving it 😘👍👍
I just got two new Pekin Bantam we named them Tigerlilly and Iris
They look lovely them I'm glad you got them
Kimmys Kitchen and Garden thank you they are doing well
Those lucky little hens to have you find them.
how are those little ladies doing? I just ordered some from pipinchick , I have some POlish sizzled frizzles but looking forwards to get the other hens i order 2 lavander pekins and some silkies :)
Lovely! I have the Lavender Pekin Bantam Cockerel A friend bought some chicks and they all turned out to be male, her daughter called him Sweet pea, now Mr Sweet pea Is in with 11 other mixed breed ladies and loving life, he does get a bit dirty when the weather is wet but soon cleans up.
carol Tucker they are sweet,is the cockerel noisy?
@@diggingfordinner All cockerels are noisy! Sorry for the late reply! 😄
Oohh I have some of these beauties they're absolutely adorable! Pleased you've brought them to a very loving home!!
Homebird Farm - UK 😊 do you keep them with regular size hens or do you just have a bantam flock?
@@diggingfordinner at first I was scared to let them mix with my large hens & ducks but they get on no problem, the bigger birds put them in their place now and then but they've been together over a month now and so far all's been well. But I did keep them together for a month first sepparated by pen wire then they broke out one day and mixed by accident. Sorry for rambling on.😂
We have kept them in the hutch within the hen house when we go home and when we are at the plot we have put them in a separate run next to the other girls but we tried to mix them again today and they got really pecked so separated them fairly quickly. They are just so small in comparison we don’t want them to get hurt but are we being over cautious 🤔 maybe we just need to try for a short period every day
@@diggingfordinner how long have have you had them? If its only a few days give it a little longer before fully mixing, mine had a month to adjust, but I was scared to mix them. I think you do right to keep them sepparated for now until they get to know each other through the wire, can't be too cautious. Say for example if you were to get another few large birds you'd keep them sepparated for a while then mix, it helps them work out the pecking order (I'm sure you've done that recently on one of your vlogs) and I believe it's the same for the Pekins too. Yes watch over if you mix them for a little while during plot time. Just read on Google that bantams don't always end up on the bottom of the order. I haven't kept chickens for long, but that's what I'd do. Hope I've helped a little. Georgia.
wow
I absolutely love yr channel and amazing content hugs to u and kelly xx
Hayleyb sparkle stitch and stick thank you for the support 👍😊
Used tea bags for sore eyes. Once a month i also rub vaseline on to thier legs and feet this will stop scally mite and if any are present will kill the mites off. In an area that stays dry i have some builders brick laying sand my girls love bathing in this it also helps get rid of red mites. Peking cockerals are not to noisy if you want chicks pekings are ideal bantam breed.
Colin King great tip with the Vaseline. I did wonder about the bantam cockerel and how noisy they are 🤔something to think about
I started off with 2 but the chicken bully them so I bought 2 more and they were like there only little group and after that the chickens didn’t bully them anymore. So if you are having trouble do that
Those are broodies r us! I used to breed lavender, millefleur and porcelain pekins. They are just super sweet, teeny eggs, but make the BEST mums.
Tony Stevens Gardens, Gadgets and Gizmo’s yes I’ve heard they are good Mums. How noisy are the lavender cockerels?
@@diggingfordinner a bit shrill, but not deafening. Depends on how much "attitude" the boy has. They are worst until they are 2 (teenage hormones), and crow more if there are other cockerels in earshot.
Great job with the hens they look great and great that all of them are laying. If you keep introducing gradually they may sort it out although probably seems cruel because they are so small.
Benjamin Donaldson Thanks,we tried again today and didn’t go well,Kelly wants them to have a separate home as they are so small
Well only one thing for it. You need to get more bantams.
Diatomaceous Earth works very good so long as it stays dry. It will dry out bugs that get it on them. People can actually eat the food grade DE and it helps to detoxify the body. Especially the intestinal system, if you know what I mean. It is supposed to be very good for you. I am thinking about using it for myself to see if I can’t get rid of 65 years of heavy metals and food made with all kinds of crap.
Catherine Fredericks I have read that too about humans being able to use it, interesting 🤔
Great job guys there tiny and I agree they do look like pigeons! Have u reported the "breeder" for the bad state of those poor girls am sure they will perk up and show there character soon
beautiful little girls !!!
Lovely video, I just picked up 10 eggs and put them in the incubator so due easter Monday, can't wait. Are they both def hens, one looks like a cockerel ?
Gone Potty Gardening how exciting 😁🥚 the cockerel has longer feathers more like hair,we saw the cockerel whilst getting the girls
You guys are gorgeous people but I think you’ve been DONE!! That’s a pigeon 🤣🤣 Bless you for saving them. Love chookies 💖 and you’ll have to call one Radish
Jane D Thank you 😊 when we got them and they were in a state they really did look like pigeons 😂 now they are clean their feathers are really fluffing up so I think we are ok and have hens lol
(7/18/19) We use to put new birds in the roast at nite. This way the older birds think they have been there all the time. From Iowa
what if you have a mother hen that is protective and you get some little lavender chicks and there might be pests but we can't give them treatment
Your Ladies in Lavender are sweet!
Anya - Thanks 👍😊
LOL if you think their small wait till you see how tiny their eggs are. We always had Banty's when we were kids. A plus is they are very aggressive when they get used to their enviroment .
Debra G I’ve read and spoke to people who say they are the most docile 🤔
When are the start lay eggs
Hey .. what breed is emerald please ..
I wish to bring these Lavender Pekins in Philippines but I don’t know how.........
You could go to an egg farm because they kill hens after 18 months as they don't lay eggs as often. ua-cam.com/video/OuInNjPnnWM/v-deo.html
They look more like a pekin cross, they're not as round as a pure pekin
Also, it looks like a hen and a rooster, not 2 hens
awwww
Mumakinder 👍😊
So sad when breeders mistreat their animals. They don’t deserve to be able to breed them. In the states if a breeder is caught doing things like that, they lose their critters.
Catherine Fredericks makes you mad doesn’t it, at least we have given two a fresh start
Me personally great what you doing with those birds but I will report the person with her breathing and Karen through because it still standard health of birds and they must be in certain colours how many me personally great what you doing with those For the birds but I’ll report the person who sold them because they are still supposed to be so much area per bird I will report them to the RSPCA I would
Can you no sher please
Those poor chickens at lest u have them know to show the love people can be some cruel karma will get that bloke
Hayleyb sparkle stitch and stick they are still shy but don’t think they had to much human interaction
