Ben Stark commentary kinda OP. Love watching you play, but your analysis is so next level its nice to see it in comparison to other really good magic players choices.
Ben, as you mentioned it so many times I will answer your question. I'm a developer. I was starting on games and then moved to software, and I can tell you that you would never guess how cheap are executives of the richest companies in the world. They can afford it, they just don't want to spend money. I tried to understand their standpoint and I think that's just the way they are. If they haven't been valuing money so greatly their entire live they would never get to a position of an executive of a very successful company.
I know you aren’t saying this. But if I want to be the best, how do I make up for those years when I was younger and didn’t play magic. Like plan of action. Any tips Ben Stark or anyone else?
A lot of the best players in any game haven't played the game for longer than 2 years. Talent is a big factor in that but its mostly about learning correctly. Play decks that teach you mechanics and avoid those that are irregular or degenerate, your goal should be to improve at the game not at a certain deck. Play actively and avoid autopilot. Record your gameplay and go over it afterwards with a lot of pauses to analyze stuff. Turn start > What can I do? > What can the opponent do? > Is there an optimal order to my plays? Stuff like that pretty much, the game can be overwhelming so you need to train thoughtprocesses like this when you have time to think and not during an active game. Talk to smart players and avoid hivemind places like reddit that let feelings about the game get in the way of proper learning. The biggest help should be an unending curiosity to think about the game 24/7 and to find fun in the journey towards becoming good. There is no easy way but effort is always rewarded as long as you don't slack you will by default be better than most players because a lot of them either don't try to learn or don't have the endurance to keep striving towards improvement.
Yah the interface of arena is really nice. Wotc needs to put more money into fixing bugs and customer outreach to add things people would like. Their bug reporting mechanism for arena is a perfect example of how wizards is fucking up though. Any other game would have your bug report sent as a message to a customer service rep. Instead, they saved money and just used their forum style bug report system where you get no feedback letting you know someone even saw your complaint. It would be so easy to fix, but wotc rather horde the money they make to make a bed of gold to sleep on.
I'll voice my opinion here that I like seeing you draft and commentate your own drafting and games over pure commentating. I always find commentary of something the person talking has full control over a little more interesting than the other way round personally. This is certainly enjoyable. But given the question was raised in the video that would be my stated preference.
Ben, I strongly encourage you to put just a little more effort into editing your uploads. Your content is excellent, but videos that force people to skip ahead/around will turn people away

Thanks, I know very little about programming so its hard for me to even ballpark estimate what some of these things would cost.
Awesome content! More Ben commenting other pros!

Isn’t it very interesting to see how his decisions deviate from the people we are watching though?
