We used them for practice for actual board breaking. I feel like board breaking in martial arts should be more difficult because even the real ones we use to break are made of pretty weak wood.
@@hugow3266 the entire point of tbe one inch punch is to show that distance doesn't matter, as long as you have decent technique. Look how their body motion is different for the last one, until he actually punches properly to break it with easy just by moving his hips into the punch

Note for the ones that don’t know: The boards are 2 pieces of plastic meant to be snapped like that and are hollow. They don’t really know they pain of breaking your fingers trying to break an actual board(made for this, not every wood board is meant to be snapped like this).
@@violetjones5317 nice, if you can keep going to taekwondo I would say keep going, I left around 7 years ago and I regret every single day. They have a nice discipline and they teach you a lot of personal defense.
Its about teaching the technique of breaking, not the actual force behind it, and also giving the person confidence. You can see that after he doesnt break the last board on the first try he pulls his punch on the next try and he's hesitant to do it in general. In my tkd school when I was a kid we started on wooden boards and it sucks to watch this kid who you know can do it pull their punches and kicks cause they didn't break it the first time and now theyre scared they'll hurt themselves trying and they just break down into tears cause they can't break it (I was one of those kids).
We never dried the wood, just used the apropriate kind and thickness to match the skill. You might hurt yourself a lot or even break something on the wrong target. It's pretty much "break the target or your hand" on tough ones.
Exactly lmao I did tukong which is a Korean martial arts and we used these before we got to break real boards so we’d use these at green belt then real ones at red belt

This one girl in my school always used to flex how she could break a yellow Baird for her karate class with a full punch.. needless to say when she brought it to school we let the skinniest kid in the class break it first with a one inch punch.. She might have quit karate after that

Martial arts classes hurt when you have an untrained body. Too bad I was too weak to join taekwando. When I started training every weekday in class I ended up getting a bad fever on the weekends.
Taekwondo is good but shaolin kung fu is better and harder like 450x harder than taekwondo on shaolin as long as your a kid they will already teach you kung fu and one inch punch is not the only thing they can do they can iven make hole on a tree with there fingers
Thats a strategy used in many building blocks to make it cheaper and lighter while saving the strength of the block by removing extra bits and stressing the force on choke point which are the lines that hold the thing togheter. I was in karate for a decade and I've never seen or broken hollow boards like that. The ones we used where solid 1/2" thick or more but they where cut so the grain ran up an down making them easy to break. As a kid it gives you confidence and you think you are a beast. until you realize your the victim of a jedi mind trick lol...
Thats is because non metals have a choke point. Meaning they are easily breakable from certain points. They are just to happen to be trained to hit the exact same point so much, they do it all the time.

This feels kinda sus cause there’s a bit of a jump cut and the planks are clearly different ones since there’s a white border after their broken, showing it’s edited. It’s well done
They’re training boards already split in half but you are able to slide them in together to be one again the outline you’re seeing is exactly that but once joined together they simulate breaking an actual board but reusable

Thats because they are designed to do that, those boards are only used to teach techniques. They use them in my kids taekwondo before moving to actual boards

We used them for practice for actual board breaking. I feel like board breaking in martial arts should be more difficult because even the real ones we use to break are made of pretty weak wood.

I remember those boards. When I was 7 I took karate and as children we all karate chopped them at 50% power.

These are the practice boards we used in tkd. We practiced breaking before we broke real boards. Still convinced the real boards were fake too lmao
Its about teaching the technique of breaking, not the actual force behind it, and also giving the person confidence. You can see that after he doesnt break the last board on the first try he pulls his punch on the next try and he's hesitant to do it in general. In my tkd school when I was a kid we started on wooden boards and it sucks to watch this kid who you know can do it pull their punches and kicks cause they didn't break it the first time and now theyre scared they'll hurt themselves trying and they just break down into tears cause they can't break it (I was one of those kids).

We never dried the wood, just used the apropriate kind and thickness to match the skill. You might hurt yourself a lot or even break something on the wrong target. It's pretty much "break the target or your hand" on tough ones.

The ones we used where solid 1/2" thick or more but they where cut so the grain ran up an down making them easy to break.
