- As my first time to enter the “REAL WORLD” a.k.a On-site job, my first thing i bought on my first salary is a Samsung Smart TV 2014 model of ALL of the things i think in the world, just to ditch out our SUPER OLD 2001 CRT TV from Samsung. Gone on the days of RCA cables, Hello to HDMI and a wide array of movie and tv streaming apps like Netflix, UA-cam and Prime Video. The only problem with this thing is LACK OF ADDITIONAL APPS.
That’s the time I researched ANDROID TV and its supported devices. But recently, Google announced a new OS for TV called Google TV. So, what’s different between the two OS or is it just the same but different name? Will your old Android TV box and Sets be upgraded to the newest one? Well, we’ll answer ALL of the questions in this video:

The question I want to know is whether or not we can still use Google Drive to install our own apps onto the Google TV, the same way that we can with Android TV? Does it allow you to save an .apk file to a flash drive and install it the same way you can on Android TV?

I don't know what is DSTV but when I tried to check it online, it looks like it does NOT have an app. I suggest you should contact the developer for the correct information.
Hi, I already have a Chromecast with Google tv - now i am seeing both Android tv and televisions from TCL equipped with Google tv. Now my question is - is there any advantage getting the tv with Google tv or simply get the tv with Android tv and use my Chromecast with Google tv and save some money as the Android tv is now cheaper. Please advice.
Hi. Thanks for watching. In terms of the essential Android TV features, both Android TV and Google TV are the same.
However, in terms of TCL's additional features on that TV like HDR10 and Dolby Atmos or Vision, you need to check if the Android TV one has that thing. If not, then get the Google TV one so that you can take advantage of the features it has so it will be compatible with your Chromecast
@@TechMNO i partially agree. If i am getting television with Google tv then where is the need to still use Chromecast with Google tv and compatibility. I will rather use it directly on the television.
Do I need to use/ buy a chromcast to play my laptop movie on Google TV? It is built in?
If your TV has a smart TV feature, check first if there's a Chromecast or casting options. If your TV is a regular HDMI TV, then Yes, you need to buy a Chromecast with Google TV to play the movie from your laptop.
Make sure also that the software you use has a Chromecast support like VLC.
can I still download my movies to watch offline if I update Google movies and tv app on my new tablet? I heard you can only view them on UA-cam and you can't download them.

Hey, nice review but you should update your video becouse Android tv has a new user interface since a few months or so.
Wich is more like that from Google tv but based on some update for the Android tv launcher and the settings app is also the old Android tv style only the new launcher.
Actually that in the intro from the left side photo, wich you call it Google tv is only the updated user interface for Android tv wich in some countrys already has.

Hi James good content. I have a question. Some chinese brand TVs say that their TV is android 9 and somehow the menu interface is so different from an android TV. On the menu it would say wondershare, are they really using android tv or some other operating system?. Thank you
Hi. Thank you for watching. For some TVs that have "Android" to it, it's just a regular Android system specifically for phones that's been modified for TV.

If you want to see only movies or TV shows on your screen, Google TV. If you want to see your apps, Android TV. But I suggest Google TV.

Except that on Google TV you can turn on that you only want to see applications and you don't want to see movie content.

Android TV & Google TV are pretty much the same whilst Google TV uses Android 11 on its core

@techmno can you help me on one question - Earlier I used to have a Sony 43" android smart tv and was able to play my USB which has a .mxf video files. Now I purchased a Philips 65" Google smart tv and I'm UNABLE to play my USB with .mxf video files.
My question is - how do i play mxf video files on Google tv. Is anyone aware of the solution.

If it's NOT Google TV compatible, you can sideload it. HOWEVER, there are some apps that are NOT supported for big screen TVs. So install it at your own risk.

Uhm, as I understand your comment, it looks like it's the same thing, whether you use VPN or not, it's Android TV. Mi TV stick or box uses Android TV interface for global market, except for India and China with Patchwall and Mi TV interface for China.
And also, Mi TV box or stick won't change from Android TV to the newer Google TV interface because it's only at Android 9.

Google TV is much better than Roku. Yes, Roku may have a lot of apps, but if you're not in the US, it's useless.

Even Android TV does NOT have Chrome. Well, you can use other browsers there like Puffin Browser to fill the gap
