    Wow, what a nice, wide range of tools! And such nice folks too. At Springfield we had as much fun visiting and making friends as we did shopping for and buying tools.

    Thank you for the walk around. I don't see much of that in Las Vegas, But now that I know about hand tool finder. I will keep an eye out when traveling.
    Oh, that last unidentified #2. had a raised cone shape around the front knob. I have a #5 with that. And it has a Mohawk/Shelbourne iron in it.

    It easy to figure your preferences for furniture and boxes because you skip the bigger chisels and slicks. I would like to get some idea of the price ranges for slicks above 2 inches and those with bent handles instead of straight. However you do tend to just skip over them rather than say much about them. No complaining but once in a while I would like to see you address them too.

      I try to focus on the items with the greatest appeal. There are a lot of other things I could pick out but the video would get too long. Most of the slicks are between 60 and $200. Depending upon their current condition

    Q call ent video. Love seeing these meets. Thank you for taking us through one more MWTCA meet.
    Is it me, or have prices been up recently in those meets? Still plenty of deals, but not as many as usual?

      I haven't seen a huge uptick in prices. You do see a very large uptick if you're at West or on eBay, but at most of them in the Midwest they've been pretty flat. There are a few exceptions such as router planes. In the last 5 years those have gone up by about 50%. But most standard planes and saws have been pretty well flat over the last few years.

    Does the mwtca normally contact members as to the address and times if the local events, or do you need to email to listed event holder for that info?

    • @WoodByWrightHowTo
      @WoodByWrightHowTo  Рік тому

      Usually they send out a notification to people within a certain distance. But if you are outside of the range and want to get an invite? You can always contact the person running it. Those are all listed on the website. Www.mwtcha.org

      @@WoodByWrightHowTo thank you. I live in the same city as one coming up in a couple weeks. I signed up for membership a couple weeks ago. I did get the welcome letter and magazine. I just am unsure of what the tine frame for location/time announcement. Ill go ahead and email the host just in case its already gone out.

    Is a SB four Stanley worth anything?

    • @WoodByWrightHowTo
      @WoodByWrightHowTo  Рік тому

      They are okay users. They're generally some of the cheapest ones you can find. They can do the work but they can also be a big pain.

      Sorry I wasn't thinking clearly when I saw the comment for the first time. The SB4 Stanley hand plane was one they made in the 70s and '80s and I think into the early 90s. It's one of the last hand planes they made before they stopped. It's usually not considered to be a quality hand plane, but it can do the work. It just ends up being a little bit frustrating too. Get running right.
