Agreed, but just as many other people as church musicians bro, ha. Prophecy about what "God is going to do for you next" feeds into that "Fortune Cookie" theology many people mistake God for.
1. All prophecy warrants testing, so it needs to be specific enough to test (1 Thessalonians 5:20-21).
2. God desires for us to have holy living much more than that leveling up to that next ______________ . Jesus preached repentance much more than he did getting that next ________________ . The biggest obstacle a believer has between us and God is "SIN" Isaiah 59:2. Let's focus on Holy and Righteous living.

You nailed it. Us musicians are prophecy magnets, because everyone knows what our flesh wants. Some people want to feel powerful, valuable, influential or spiritual.. so they "prophecy" obvious or likely things about our future. It used to annoy me so much when I used to gig. Then they'd act like I was supposed to honor and reverence them because they "prophesied" to me. 🙄
So true. And you find that most musicians are struggling, so what do they do? The prophets would see that the person is in a depressive state and they would try and motivate them by saying that they are giving them a word where in fact they are just motivating them to continue to do what they should do at the musicians' expense.
When that prophecy does not happen it creates tension for the musician especially the ones who cannot do anything for themselves to be more depressed & hate the church
Also because that prophet would have just prophecied they would not be able to be taken into accountability because one would not tell whether or not they are speaking in truth or not.
We are prophetic magnets...actually musicians operate in that realm to a degree because often we play and sing from inspiration. Many times our music speaks to what people need even if we don't know the needs personally. Prophecy is not always foretelling or mystical it is merely proclaiming what is already spoken. Again you are right: we are easy targets even if we're not on the instruments
I’m a Drummer and Singer choir Director. I have an incident that happened a couple of months ago. Someone came to me and laid hands on me while on the drums in the corner and literally almost fell off the seat because they put so much weight on my head until until I was almost forced to come down, but I didn’t finally someone came behind me just in case I fell the second time the same service within 20 minutes I was asked to stand up, and a few people stood around me, and they started prophesied to me about people not supposed to be in my life, and if I hang around them, I would die and I don’t know anybody that I would hang around that would be dead but an idiot the person asked me do want the bad person to be out of my life and I was like well whoever it is of course I don’t want the bad person in my life so the guy told me to raise my hands and the guy picked me up and swirled me around a couple of times and he put me back down and said that they’re gone. lol.

any real prophets walking the Earth right now. Real prophets don't make mistakes... Ever.
And also as a musician if you have to be somewhere, the church is practically over, but they will spend an hour an hour and a half prophesying air to everyone throwing sheets. I’ve seen it where they throw sheets on top of the singers, while singing praise and worship, and they all fall down, and they will force themselves on you.
This was enlightening. You asked one important question of what is the difference between true vs false prophets. The point in the end is real: does it come to pass.
Sorry, that is not the measure of who a Prophet is. Many people can guess things. Y’all don’t remember people use to call a psychic hotline to get what y’all calling prophesy. It’s Blasphemy at best. Read, study, fast and pray about God’s words to not be spiritually blind and fall prey to the deceptions of satan. Every church and their false preachers belong to satan. There’s only 1 true church that belongs to Jesus Christ. It’s numbers are growing and is in every continent. You won’t know the difference following the masses like sheep’s being led to their demise and destruction until you seek God’s answers. There’s about 44,000 false churches spreading the globe.

Terrence is jewel! He provides great advice and consultation for secular musicians, and for church musicians as well. I am always so impressed whenever I listen to any of his videos, and I learn so much! Many of his observations and analysis on church life are the same issues that I have rebeled and stood usually alone against my whole life. Terrence is very practical in his analysis and even throws in psychological awareness for our egos in this and other videos. Anecdote: driving down the I-20 Grambling to Shreveport 7:10 on a Saturday morning, speeding (which I generally avoid) drinking coffee to stay alert, I nearly spew my coffee all over the steering wheel at the 2:59 mark when he talks about the attitude that some people have against their co-workers, though oftentimes, they should first look in the mirror. Priceless! Again. Terrence Fisher is the man and is the best resource on UA-cam for advice on building a career as a musician! Just from listening to his videos on UA-cam, he has helped me rethink and reform my second childhood plan on how to go about making money as a musician! I have no doubt that what he advises in his video on ways to make money as a musician in 2024, are absolutely the way for me to go. Once, I am able to implement what he outlines, I have no doubt that i will be successful.

I appreciate the honesty of this channel and videos. I came out of the charismatic movement several years ago (still a church musician). These so-called “prophesies” are nothing more than the same messages you can get in a fortune cookie or the news paper horoscope - just theological nonsense and “inspirational” tripe. The bible warns against this stuff. Real, solid, true biblical teaching and worship is what we all need, and that is what leads to honestly loving others. I love being a church musician, and I am glad to be delivered from the charismatic church.
I think most of this goes back to discernment. False prophets and bad prophecy have always been around and always will be. You have to have discernment when it comes to what you open your spirit up to. I think instead of focusing on what’s bad about prophecy we need to teach each other how to strengthen their discernment
Agreed, discernment by the Holy Spirit is the only way to protect yourself from the foolishness.
And God always confirms His Word, if what a “prophet” says is true. Test it. Try it. Get your flesh out of the way. If it is real, it won’t leave you.

This is so timely and relevant. I have definitely had encounters with personal prophecies. Some of it was on point and alot of it off base not beneficial to me at all spiritually speaking. We must be cautious at all cost. We are warned in scripture about false prophets counterfeit miracles etc. We should trust the Bible and the inner witness of the Holy Spirit. If it doesn't resonate with your spirit and you feel an uneasiness then it should be thrown out!!!!!

See, this is the right kind of prophecy right here: Forthtelling, not foretelling. Too many people think prophecy is some sort of "holy fortunetelling" instead of just telling divine truth.
You don't have to allow 'anyone' to 'lay hands on you' in the name of 'prophecy! God opens doors for you and closes doors for you as He wills! Blessings

Declaring God's word between one another is totally encouraged on the bible, but prophecy is always misinterpreted. Never in the whole bible a prophet were invited to a town or went by themselves to speak to people... they always were sent by God directly with an specific message to address an specific reason. People would fear when they saw a prophet coming to town bc the knew they screwed it up. Today you invite prophets to hear only good things..how convenient right?

He came to my church in Virginia years ago... with his nasty attitude... the deacons never wanted him back again! A con artist in disguise! Money lines... and money shaming... all to line his pockets!
Okay….i see that you’re speaking about this from a regular worldly position. Which is fine. But to say prophesy needs to stop is actively trying to restrict a move from God. I’m gonna drop my testimony…the super short version though. 😂😅 so back 2021 I was saved and delivered from some things through the exact same situations you say need to stop. I was minding my business sitting there and the brother walked right up to me with the microphone with his back turned to the congregation and told me about some things in my recent past at the time with names…details and all. (These were things I’d never shared with anyone) and he layed hands on me without asking and just said The Lord said you’re about to get set free right here right now….boy boy boy….next thing I knew I was on the ground shaking and vomitting up everything that was unclean and commanded out. My life hasn’t been the same since. :) just some food for thought. Let God move when, where, and how he wants to. Whether that’s laying hands on you behind a keyboard, drums, or whatever….let his will be done.
A lot of these "words" involve you being told to "stay firmly planted" not to go anywhere!

In this subject, it’s like you are speaking in general. There is an exception to each person that you have to consider
Literally happened to me! It derailed my life. Instead of chasing my passions in military and football. I dropped it all to chase this “prophecy” now I’m 32 and feel like I’m in a hole but thankfully I now understand it’s my decision.
A deeper discussion should be had on this for sure. There are a lot of false prophets out there, and the Bible provides guidance on how to tell them apart from the true ones. The main way to tell is to ask yourself: Does it line up with Scripture? The other thing is to ask: Did what this person say come to pass? Prophecy has more to do with forth-telling, rather than fore-telling, though both can happen. The main thing people forget is prophecy is the little 'w' word. The Bible is the big 'W' Word and should be the truest guide for our lives. Little 'w' words are nice guides along the way, but will never, ever steer us away from the big 'W'.
I was given the same prophecy, a long time ago. And we never got married either.
I know prophetic ministry needs a reformation but I actually stay away from people who bash and dont believe in the prophetic!

I pray often for the gift of prophecy. My most common prophecy for church musicians is that they need to repent of sexual immorality. Batting 1000.
Oh my goodness I hate when folk do that prophesying over me deal especially when they touch my head!!! Ugh but I praise God for his mercy and patience or else some fights would be breaking out on the church floor for sure!

The was a prophet who visited the church I was attending some time ago. He said that Mexicans and African Americans would be in a battle. He did not say when only it was going to happen. Just say I’m still watch out for it😊

Interesting take on a interesting topic. Many valid points. Some I agree with, some I don't. Prophecy comes with playing for churches. Same has dealing with drunk people would come with playing at clubs or bars. The interaction will vary, but it's there. In both scenarios. One way to deal with knowing a false prophet from a real one is to be truly saved and filled with the holy ghost. It's not only needed(this get to heaven), but for the most part, it will deter false prophets from choosing you. For sake of being exposed. They(false spirits) know who's real and who's fake as well. I was reading an English translation bible that my friend gave me years ago
when reading in the Old Testament I came across a scripture on prophets
God was speaking to me and I knew it was Him.
It read “Do not seek after a prophet false prophets will defile you, instead seek me
(God) I want to know if you love me.” “Even if a prophet tell you something that come to pass don’t run with.” so I avoided prophets the Lord doesn’t want His children being deceived by false prophets.

I'm very skeptical of people who do this. I'm an old school Christian and if someone Says God says this or that the bible needs to agree or the person is full of it
False prophets HATED me when I was in Sunday Service. I was known as the, “ Bomb and doom Prophet.” I don’t claim to be a prophet at all. I just knew the vivid sin I saw and would call it out in services WHEN ASKED. And, only in part. I would always follow with scripture and instructions on how to repent. How to restore. Baby. Churches memberships dropped because of the words Abbah gave to me. Now that I keep The Sabbath and Feast Days, I’ve been shunned even more. Those that are called don’t want to be and aren’t widely accepted.

You can judge a Prophet in three ways, has it already happened and they called it and didn't know? Is it happening and they called it and didn't know? The future prophetic word, if it does come to pass. Now prophecies given by the Prophets of old were not believed either. They didn't believe it would rain, it did! David waited 22 years on the Prophecy that he would be king. I had that happen with a job promotion that I prayed about and was prophesied to about receiving it. 3x the job came open and 3x I applied. I knew the opening was for me but management kept giving it away! The 3rd time she got sick and couldn't work the job! They had to come to me this time and ask for my help to fill the position that was indeed mine! The only way to tell a true Prophet is by his Spirit of you have the spirit in you or by his accuracy which takes years sometimes BECAUSE YHVWH GOD'S timing is not our timing. But some false prophets use "the future" as a crutch to spew lies and God never told them diddly squat. Many disguise themselves as angels of lights, but Satan is their papa. Even when accurate, you have to REAL CAREFUL when coming into agreement with whatever's being prophesied b/c you are agreeing with their source - and if it ain't the Holy Spirit, you're in trouble.
Some use "prophecy" as a means of validation/stroking their ego, others to make money, some to initiate weak Christians into whatever altar they submit to, to increase members of their church by impressing them, etc.
Tore my family apart and just about ruined my life following a prophet who told me I should marry a certain woman. She was beautiful and I wanted to be with her but I had my red flags. So that was a combination of a prophet and an idiot and I was the idiot.

Prophecy is actually preaching the bible, al this Fortune-telling circus in modern church is nothing but manipulation by people that is all about $ and people hate to hear this, but it has no biblical foundation, all this works because people seek just some "spiritual feel good experience" many pastors need this to keep people manipulated.

Yeah the Scriptures assist me in determining the real from the fake. And guess what I discovered, there are no seers of Old! That ended with John the Baptist ! Also we function in the Spirit of prophecy which is the testimony of JESUS CHRIST! Nothing in there about somebody playing the piano or singing on BET or wherever.

These prophets sound a lot like Gypsy psychics casting a mark.
Paul the Apostle bound together finding the will of God for your life with the renewing of the mind; Romans 12:2 ISV "Do not be conformed to this world, but continuously be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you may be able to determine what God’s will is-what is proper, pleasing, and perfect." 1st John 4:1 ISV " Dear friends, stop believing every spirit. Instead, test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world." If a word of prophecy doesn't agree with the scriptures, or if your own spirit doesn't agree with the prophecy, then throw it out with the garbage, you're not obliged to accept what is clearly false. Remember that the Holy Spirit is also called the Spirit of truth, if it's not true, then it's not from the Holy Spirit!
I grew up being taught to that one of the founders of the church was a prophet. Most people didn’t like most of what she said though 😂

There are NO prophets in this dispensation of Grace. There haven’t been and GOD ordained prophets since the OT. JESUS fulfilled all prophecy before going to the cross. Prophecy that wasn’t fulfilled will return after the rapture of the church (the body of Christ) when GOD will once again pick up with Israel. If anyone claims that they are a prophet today, they are self-proclaimed and 100% not of GOD!

That is your experience. You can not speak for no one but self. For the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy says the Holy Spirit in Revelation 19:10. This is why the believer should be Led by God’s Holy Spirit and not man’s words. Trust God alone and He will lead you into all truth.
