    It is uncanny that every time you are looking for a downed aircraft one flies over just before you start finding parts. Only EE can wander along and find parts. Need to work down the hillside further. In 70 years the ground from the weather has shifted down the hill. Amazing that you found a cast part so the mold number is available, the Junkers museum may be able to tell you the aircraft tail number. Can't wait for the next installment. Stay safe out there the both of you.

      Yes and we logged info on that which tells us that the last 5 visits to such crash sites a propeller aircraft came by and that is pretty crazy to be honest. More to come William for sure and thanks :)

    Incredible, by far my favourite find youve ever made!! I absolutely love the history of th ju88. Ever since i was a a small boy probably your boys age and built my first airfix models. There was a ju88 kit by revel i think in a larger 1/48 scale. It was a kit i could never afford on my pocket money lol
    What a find. Just incredible.
    I have 2 pieces of german aircraft, a small mechanism from an me110 crashed in the uk, and a piece of a 109E engine block also crashed in uk. Bought when i was young at an airshow "sellers market" where detectors like you sold various found treasures.
    (All legally i might add)
    Im proud of myself for buying them, i doubt they would be as cheap today as they were then.

    I have helped metal detect at the site of a commercial plane crash in the USA. The ntsb removes everything after a crash for analysis, but we still managed to find countless small pieces of twisted metal, including interesting and clueful parts 40+ years later. For you there are probably countless pieces hundreds of feet through the woods. Lots of fascinating history there. Planes are always flying over because most plane crashes are upon the usual approach/departure paths from airports.

    To all the people who started watching this video and stopped watching because these two explorers weren’t finding anything, missed something wonderful coming up out of the ground. One of the great thing about these videos, is that it just not every second they are finding something, it shows the struggles of getting to the location and the time it takes to find a target. Once the first target is found, it’s like things start being exposed that haven’t been seen in many years. I personally feel am on the exploration with them.

    I have a JU-88 wreckage not far from my home in England which was intercepted by 2 Spitfires. The pilot went into a steep dive to try and escape but with no luck. The spitfires were still hot on their tale and managed to damage one of its engines. The JU88 pilot tried pulling up to avoid some hills but the damaged engine gave in, causing the plane to stall and spiral to the ground. One crew member managed to bail out but his parachute failed and he died in the Hills after crashing through trees and hitting the gound. A couple of children came across his body when they went to see the wreckage. As for the rest of the 3 crew members, they went down with the plane and are still burried with it today. The locals created a small memorial 200 yards away from the site with the crew members names on it. The man that managed to jump was burried in a local cemetary along with many other German airmen who lost their lives over the North East of England. I have pieces of that wreckage in my collection after a local sold them to me.

    Great video and awesome find. I was on the engineering crew of the B-17G SallyB here in the UK and the first part you found looks a frame part for a fuel or oil tank cradle. The radius of the metal part would match that of the tank and the broken turnbuckle would be attached to a metal strap (there would probably be 2, possibly 3) that would clamp the tank in place. Thank you for sharing the fantastic explore and find.

    In 1943 a machine had to make an emergency landing behind the restaurant "Zum Frieden" in Rheine Bentlage. She rammed the roof of the restaurant and got stuck almost upright in it. To the west of the restaurant (the building still exists Adress: Gasthaus zum Frieden in Salzbergener Str. 375, 48432, Rheine Deutschland ) there are still numerous parts. Greetings from Germany

    I know about 6 ju88 crashsites within 10km around my home. We have investigated 4 of them. 1 of the ju88s were forgotten and we found the crashsite a few years ago. 1 other site has acording to the few local old peaple still 1 engine in the ground, due to the germans could not recover it because of the wet weather and wet soil. My buddybis developing a metalsensitive drone that should be able to detect big lumps of metal many meters in the ground. Maybe we will be lucky.

    My only observation would be that the trees would need to be at least 70 years old, the trees on your walk are less than that ! It would be interesting to know what the terrain was like 70 + years ago ?

    • @WW2HistoryHunter
      @WW2HistoryHunter  2 роки тому

      Well there are pretty old trees around there for sure but i am no expert in that so couldnt tell. Thanks for taking time to comment and watch.

    Eagle Eyes scores again. What a brilliant find, not only just any old part of the Ju88, but one with the parts numbers on it. What an amazing find. Great stuff guys. Hopefully you might be able to trace exactly which part of the plane it came from and where it was manufactured. So fantastic that after all the effort of trekking through the forest and up the hills, you actually find the aircraft. really appreciate all the effort you go through for us. Cannot wait to see what else you found on that hillside. Keep up the great work! Cheers to you all!

    Thanks for another amazing video buddy. At the beginning you mentioned the JU 88 was also used as a fighter. I never knew that so it just goes to show you. "You're never too old to learn something new". Much love to you and yours and keep the videos coming.

    From now on I am referring to you as MacGyver. Walking through the forest with a rough idea where you are going. And the pin pointer on a stick. Gaffer taped as well. You have to adopt the MacGyver theme as your own. Loved it.
