    Go into settings under cluster menu and turn the various beeping sounds off or down or lessen frequency. A lot of the default settings can be customized on this car.

    Best Kona review by far. I also hate the climate display and not being able to have a digital speedo instead of an analogue other than the cube display which is horrible. I do love my 2022 Kona though.

    Thank you for the very honest review. Most UA-cam reviewers are now so called "influencers". Dislike that because its mostly misleading.

    I'm pleased to hear you appreciate the facelifted 2021 model Kona. I got my Ultimate model, (which is my first EV), at the end of May and I've been delighted with it so far. Great to drive, lots of equipment and yes, the efficiency is really, really good! I've done almost 2,500 miles so far and I'm getting 4.8 miles per kWh which is better than I had expected.
    I do agree there are far too many beeps though. Some, like the lane assist, can be switched off when you're driving but I think many of the others could be reduced, or maybe got rid of altogether. Some can be disabled in the menus but many can't, which is a shame.

      Hi. On the 2021 ultimate, do you have the same lack of choice shown in this video between an analogue and digital speed display ?

    • @dalroth10
      @dalroth10 3 роки тому +1

      @@victorseal9047 Hi Victor. On the Ultimate model you have a HUD, which displays the speed you're doing, plus the speed limit of the road you're on. There is also the option of having the speed you're doing displayed in the centre of the dash display, between the two dials if you prefer. I'm sure a dealer would be able to demonstrate this if you wanted to see what both look like.

    I 100% agree about the vent position stuff. I feel the same in my 2021 Niro SX. The little air waves look "pretty", but aren't really functional at all. Way too hard too see.

    Thanks for the test. Yes, the beeping is really too much. BUT: it doesn ´t beep when the auto-steering switches spontaneously off if it can ´t recognize the lane markings anymore. It only flashes three times very discretly and then you have to steer manually. That is rather dangerous if you don ´t constantly observe the small steering signal in the head up display. But I think one ´ s eyes should be on the road and not fixated on the display. A warning beep in this situation would be very useful.

  • @keithnewton8981

    You can turn the beeps off go into your profile settings.
    Kona us set for usa market where if they do not give warning there could be litigation. Vw is the same in usa.

    You not set up profile so you not got access to all the screen.
    You got the car in it demonstrator mode. You need to change it to what you want its very configurable so you set your home screen to show what you want and you can change the images.
    I thought the same when I first tried but when we configured the personal profile

    I know its a bit late to ask, 2y passed, but I wonder about Kona ACC downhill not breaking issue. I want swap my Nissan Leaf to Kona Ultimate, sacrifice e-pedal and 360 camera, but not holding speed acc downhill in front of speed camera would be a real problem.
    I have set up my e-pedal in "learning option", similar on Kona "auto regen lvl" or so. So when I start to drive from my home, theres steep downhill right after I leave my home and my Leaf doing same-going over 40 limit and flashing. But after that, every downhill is ok for all journey, holding like normal.
    So I assume car learning where to break every time when you start vehicle, could be same on Kona?
    So question-do you set Kona regen with paddles on max, 3lvl regen on this video "downhill ACC" test?

    Interesting the Kona doesn't keep it's speed even going downhill as my classic Ioniq(28) definitely does nicely regens all the way down the hill at the set speed. Guessing you don't get very snowy winters as would have thought the front chargeport would be a dislike as well due to possibility of freezing shut as Bjorn has shown in the original as well as the Kia eNiro.

    • @victorseal9047
      @victorseal9047 3 роки тому +1

      Are you talking about the Kona when it’s in cruise control ? I agree re the front charge port, I’m in Québec and experience occasionally the freezing door problem.

    • @badfaceday7509
      @badfaceday7509 3 роки тому +3

      I do not see the problem in the cruise control not slowing down. But as the slowing down is maintained by the motor via regen, a high state of charge might affect it. When I drive the speed is normally kept 1,5 km/t max on either side of the set seed. Up and down hills.
      I have never had problems with the charging port either. I have put some foam-band isolating on the charge port door, at put some antifreeze stuff on the port itself. That was what people normally would do, if the problem was on a ICE car.
      Why do people lose the ability to do something themselves when they drive electrically. No one has promised them that their new car will solve all problems. instead one invents problems where there are no problems.

    • @donnareedfan

      What side of your vehicle doesn’t freeze? My gas tank covers freeze, and they aren’t in the front. Not following the logic there. Front, side, rear ... all get slush and splash and live in the same temperature.

    My parents have the pre-facelift 2020 model with a big center screen. It originally had the old version of the GUI, meaning how the screens graphics interface looks and feels. It was for most part very good. After a software update at the dealer tho, the GUI, the graphic interface was changed. A lot of things got much worse, just like presented in this video in the facelifted version. Some very dark screens presenting very hard to see information in a cluttered way.

    It's interesting how people get annoyed at the car beeping at you. That is a safety feature, yes it's annoying if the door is open, that's the point, it's to encourage you to close it. As other's have pointed out though, if you dip into the setup menu's there are probably plenty of options to turn off or limit the intrusion of the warning beeps. It's a little unfair to be hating on it as if its something you can't affect when you've not even tried. The Climate display I would say does seem a bit annoying for sure though, but a lot of people once they've set the temp aren't likely to change it too much. Similar the annoyance of changing drive mode on the fly?! what, how many people do that really? Of course the driving style is going to change to that mode, so going from Sport to Eco will give a very different response, but who does that? Seems like a weird complaint to me.
    All in all though it is a very subjective thing these likes and dis-likes, it was a nice video, but the subject matter is just very personal thing to you really, how relevant is it for everyone else out here? Certainly it doesn't put me off the Kona at all. 😄👍

      Cruise control power and harshness varies in each drive mode.
      Sport mode is always using wayy too much power to hold the speed vs the eco mode which takes its time to correct to the set speed

    I think your bad things about it, is very personal and little bit clumsiness.... Not to disrespect to you, let that to be said!
    I am a real classic Ioniq driver. I must drive it efficiently! If I did the top speed the consumption were over the top! But is it really 250 watt/km on top speed? Damn that's so efficient!!!!
    I do think it's a compact size, perfect for couples if you don't always carrying more than 4 big people's often! And you can live with the smaller space!
    For us it is perfect!

And the new blue colourvis just horrible. Ceramic blue for the win! Hyundai - if You read this - I could buy a new Kona, if You would keep an Ceramic Blue paint. Dislike for a new colour option.

  • @keithnewton8981

    On the cruise control going 1 or 2 km above is nothing all my cars do that mercedes my vw group car toyota they all do this be they bev hev phev or ice. When you set at max speed your normal 4 mph below any. Id3 does it I live in a very hilly place they id3 also take several seconds to back off but as the vehicle never show the true speed they are within legal limits.
    The preface lift car has better graphics for sure. But the hyundia is set to be configured you have to configure your skins
    The biggest issue with all these ev the are design by 20 something even vw say id3 is aimed and 25 year old but there price points are aimed at 45 year plus.
    So they fill the cars with configurable gadgets but the age group who can afford to buy want simple easy to use.
    The manufactures have got there demographic wrong they either need to lower prices or get real about who's buying there products
