Yes, I washed my hair every 2 weeks though I didn’t retwist. There are several updates where I am literally washing my hair on camera. The thumbnail is sarcasm, since many of you think no retwist equals no wash and even worse some think locs equal dirty.
Some people are just ignorant about Locs🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️. We just need to educate them. I tried to freeform or about 3 to 4 months and then I retwisted. It was hard because I am that girl that loves to see the crisp parts in my hair. Mind you I’ve been locked for about 10 years now🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️😆. Thanks for doing what you do in education!🥰✊🏽
I'm telling y'all...I got the two strand twist down to perfection because of her lol!!! And I just did my first up-do along with two strand twist *finger snap and a neck roll* can't tell me nothin'!
Your hair is beautiful Queen! Thanks for being transparent and sharing your journey. From your vids I have learned that less is more for me especially being as though my hair is so fine. I'm loving and embracing my journey!
What you share is so important for so many reasons! Not only do you provide the how-to, how-not-to, but you are an inspirational example of how to love one's natural, of African-descent, self. You are so naturally beautiful. By affirming and embracing your own natural self, you give us the encouragement to do the same, and with confidence. And we can't use too much of that. Thank you so much. I've been keeping up with you for a while and just want to let you know how meaningful your work is. Please continue to share. And I am putting in my request to see all of the styles you did during your period of not retwisting. Best wishes to you and your beautiful family.
I totally agree, it all is so simple, you don't have to have all the things and productive ppl say you have to have. I never use product for a retwist and I have no problem with it lasting. It will last from wash to wash.
No nothing, I used leave in condition and i oil my scalp then retwist if I feel like retwisting. And even with that I don't use a comb or clip most of the time I use hair pins, its all very simple for me .I wish you luck on your journey
Beautiful locs. I just started my 2nd loc journey almost a month ago. After watching your videos I decided to not use gels to retwist my hair and I must admit I see no difference between using gel and using oil and water. I agree it's all in the technique. Right now I'm retwisting every 2 weeks to encourage the locs to form since I have baby locs. But I"m hoping by month 3-4 to only retwist once a month and begin to stretch it as the locs mature. I too want to preserve my parts but I love the look of fuller roots as well. So for me semi-freeforming is a happy medium.
I started my locs about 6 weeks ago. My hair is between 5 to 7 inches and I used little bantu knots to start them. I only use coconut oil and a mix of aloe juice and castor oil. My head barely itches and doesnt smell. I had dreads 12 years ago and I had no idea how to take care of them properly and they still looked great. With all the new information I have now, I cant wait to see how they turn out.
Thank you so much! I have sister locs and decided to tighten ever 3 months whereas I was getting them tighten every 8-9 weeks. Maybe I can go longer now that I am tightening them myself. Very informative and insightful.
Your hair looks good for not re-twisting for a year. I applaud you because I could never go a whole year. I love the thickness that you got by not re-twisting. I am trying to get to three months 😂. I would love thickness
Im on my 2nd month of no retwist and my hairline is back! With the help of jb castor oil, regular washing and very little manipulation. A lot of people ask whats going on lol
This is great news sis my hairline grew in beautifully in fact I actually sprouted new Locs from Semi Freeforming and just leaving them alone to thrive. Less is more. 😊
I'm on my 7th month as of July 1st and my parents & everyone else keep asking me when I'm getting it done again lol let me be great and thrive dang lol
When Goddess showed her hair after 2 weeks from retwisting NATURALLY, I felt that! Lol my texture is the same and I have the same results! I loved this video ✌🏿❤️🖤💚
Yes i would love to see the no retwist styles. I am trying not to retwist it has been almost two months since my last retwist. Thanks I love watching your videos!
Yes my sister please continue to do what is best for your hair, cause I have seen some of your videos and you definitely know what time it is for locs. I also agree with you,on watching other locs videos and I think you are right about everybody basically doing what's best for each individual head. So keep up the good work 🤗
Just started my own retwist. It's very frustrating but I'm persevering coz it's very expensive going to the salon and my pennies could be better spent elsewhere. I love how patient you are are with your hair and your explanation just keeps me motivated and inspired. Only one month retwist ed but from the front, which is so much softer than the rest I can't get it to stay. Anyhoo before I go off on a rant, thank you so much for your videos. I keep learning more and more so hopefully next retwist should be easier. Bless up
Sis your such a dope queen 👑 thx u kindly for sharing so much of yourself . Your vibes, info, styles, creativity your beautiful family are all appreciated stay blessed & ❤️💯✨💃🏾🙏🏾👏🏾 stay queening gorgeous ✨✨namaste ❤️ Pay these haters 🤬no mind 🌈❤️👑🌹
You’re hair is so beautiful! I’ve wanted to loc my hair for years now but I’ve been so afraid to take the leap. But after watching so many of your videos I think I’m ready to start my loc journey.
Thank you for the TRUTH! I love your hair, it's so beautiful! I previously had locks that were also beautiful, but I just wanted to do something different for whatever reason. I was locked for 9 years and I transitioned out of them in 2017. Now, in 2019, I'm going to lock it up again. I missed it and from watching you, I know how I want to start and maintain them. Thank you more than you know. I appreciate you.
That was a great thing that you did, and you really can't tell that it as not been retwisted! It looks so healthy! I have starter locs and I WILL be doing that once my locs mature! Thanks for the video!
Sis originally We never twisted locks after 1 st year. Sooo you're good. Do what's good 4 YOU!!! No 1 Defines U! Roots look Awesome!😌💜👍🏾💯🌞🌙⭐️📕🖤📗🌍⛰✊🏽💪🏾🦋🐚🦋🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯💖🌞🌴
This is exactly how I do my retwists. I braid them to hold the locks in place. My sister does coils instead. When they dry and we undo them, she's got curls and I have waves.
I was the one who made the comment about pregnancy and growth of the locs. Great points thanks for educating me on this, what you said makes a lot of sense!
Thank you! You helped me figure out the best way to do this on my own. I was doing interlocking because they were short. It’s been a year and I’ve been wanting to do twisting instead of interlocking (mainly lack of time for me). It was my first time trying this method and it came out very well.
I can’t wait til my Locs get this long. I’m a year and half into my journey. I have interlocs but I palmed rolled my last style just to see if I could. They turned out pretty good but the rods I used for curling my Locs were too big. Just experimenting. Thanks for the upload and your hair is beautiful!
Wooooow!!!!!!! 😍😍😍🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹 beautiful!!! I love the photo collages of all the styles you did as well! Wish I could see more especially of you adding braids! My locs are matted and I only been a month or 2 no twist.
I made it to 1 year no retwist in June. I retwisted my roots but washed my hair a week later. I just love having the thick roots. I also just hit 6 years. I don't know when or if I will request again. I saw your recent videos & I love the cut!
U make the braids looks so easy lol. When I try, I struggle to keep them all retwisted at the base while braiding. That’s why I love to stick to my signature 2 strand twists lol. ✌🏽😂😊
I haven’t had a real retwist since my wife initially twisted them in March of ‘18 I’m semi free form and love em but ima got em retwisted for my bday (19th) then after that back to the natty’s i love my natty locks 🔥🔥🔥💪🏾💯
Thank you for sharing your journey. i believe the phase the had the most new growth was due to the the scalp being simulated blood flow while gathering into a bun promoting hair growth.
I haven’t washed or retwisted my Locs for 4 months, the only reason I washed earlier than 6 months is that I started wearing wigs for a change in hairstyle and for some reason my hair sweated more and I had to wash my Locs but my Locs are good
Thank you for the video :) I'm going to try semi-freeforming again but without styling my hair every time I wash. After 4 months of not retwisting I had a lot of new growth that wasn't locking, and it was probably because I was styling too much!
I really wish you could do my starter locs. I love your work and all your informative videos. I plan to start them before next year. Maybe I'll be able to take a trip to you. It would be worth it.
I don’t use gel either to retwist and mine stays too. I can’t say I have a banging technique like you lol but it stays. Did you miss having thick roots once you retwisted (since you had have them for so long)?! Peace and Love. Thanks for sharing.
Your hair looks so healthy 😍😍 I love it, I wish my daughter and myself lived in your area so you can do our locks my daughter gets her's done once a year and I get mines done 3 times a year and that's what works for us like you said everyone hair is different. Thank you 💖
In some cultures, you wash, regardless of whether you retwist, your hair no more than 3 times a year. Love videos, since I've started watching I've decided to stop using gels and clips to retwist my hair also because I have SLE and it causes my hair to thin I only twist once a month. Your hair looks great and I totally agree with what you said about locs being made to be complicated, I always tell people that its so simple...just find what your hair loves and do that...your hair will let you know. I appreciate you sharing your experience.
I love that I've come across your channel. Your videos are quite helpful, and they also have positive energy flowing through. I'm going to try your technique. Mine are still short, so it isn't always easy to wrap the hairs around the way I see you doing it, but I am certainly going to be mindful to try. Also, I'm curious to know when you were in your first couple of months, how often you washed and retwisted? Some of mine are loc'd and others sort of in between. I'm not sure why they stick out like the wings of an airplane. :D I only use oils and water. Any tips/feedback would be great. All the best to you and your family.
Thank you so much for sharing. I truly wish I could go the no retwist route but my locs are frizzy 3 weeks without retwisting is the most I can do plus I have a lot of loose hair at my roots.
Thank you for sharing these tips..I too have had my dreads for 24 yrs however I have been retaliating quite frequently which caused my hair to thin out..I will do as you did..not request for 6 months to a year so my hair can have a chance to regrow....thanks again

How do i go by ordering the microfiber towels and Bonnits

How could someone mix up retwisting and washing your hair. They are two totally separate things! These people are nastyyyy. vs etes tres belle!

When I hear “no retwisting for a year” I hear ultimate growth😭😭 I envy anyone that can go that long ❤️
I have thin roots and I cannot go no more than 7 weeks before relocing.
I haven’t had my hair retwisted since nov 2020
I'm telling y'all...I got the two strand twist down to perfection because of her lol!!! And I just did my first up-do along with two strand twist *finger snap and a neck roll* can't tell me nothin'!
Sonya Lawson yayyy 😂😂
I love this! I have been semi free forming for a while now. I believe that people should keep their locs simple.
You are my go-to loctician. My locs have thrived due to your videos and info. Thanks so much, beautiful sister ❤

@@Canicci1 Thank you for your advice. May i ask what leave in conditioner you use?
I love your simple approach to caring for your locs. Beautiful!
Omg!!!! You are NOT lazy for not retwisting!!!
You're videos are helpful thank you for them 👍🏽

i hate how everybody stays in ur business like u dont do this for a living 💀🤦🏾 thank you again for imparting ur wisdom!
Very helpful! I haven't retwisted in a year and I was freaking out because I didn't know what to do with all of the excess new growth.
I was the one who made the comment about pregnancy and growth of the locs. Great points thanks for educating me on this, what you said makes a lot of sense!
" Uh my English na to good " 🤣🤣
Wow it got soooo thick! You are such an inspiration. You look gorgeous as always!
I haven't retwist mine for 6 months.. I'm ready to retwist now. Thanks for posting 👍
You got this!
I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing your journey. And yes please please show us the no retwist styles you did.
your baby is GORGEOUS, proud mama!!!!! xo God Bless your family
I like how u are able to retwist ur own Locs that's amazing.
Whenever I start to feel some type of way about eventually having to combine my locs I think about you and immediately feel better.
Thank you! You helped me figure out the best way to do this on my own. I was doing interlocking because they were short. It’s been a year and I’ve been wanting to do twisting instead of interlocking (mainly lack of time for me). It was my first time trying this method and it came out very well.

Peace and Love. Thanks for sharing.
I did. I never liked the scalp look
Your hair looks so great! I'm in my 6th month w/o a retwist. Id love to see some of your no retwist styles!
WOW 😮 7 years! Your hair is so much longer than mine and it’s 10 for me.
Your hair looks fuller..
How
@@mbass_3 im pretty sure she got smaller locs after she cut off her first set. since she has finer hair it resulted in fuller locs.
Ordered the bonnet... i specified in the comments that I'd like jamaican print please. Live your hair
Your nails are perfection 😍😩
My problem is styling my hair if I don’t re-twist. I don’t know what to do other than curls, ponytail and bun
You look amazing! Goals
Beautiful hairstylsing I did a five month no re-twist and I love it.
Your hair looks so healthy 😍😍 I love it, I wish my daughter and myself lived in your area so you can do our locks my daughter gets her's done once a year and I get mines done 3 times a year and that's what works for us like you said everyone hair is different. Thank you 💖
Oh your hair looks so beautiful and full
In some cultures, you wash, regardless of whether you retwist, your hair no more than 3 times a year. Washing and retwisting more often, as well as using products that are not oils, are a modern thing. You can easily go without retwisting if you separate your hair during washes, and that's the advice I heard from another loctician who's a Rasta.
The longest I went is about 8mths. But I did wash/ condition and occasionally hot oil treatments ...I had so much new growth that it look like a baby afro......lol......Never had no issues with my locs....Never color or did any styles.
I retwist every 6 months but was thinking to start retwisting every 3 months. Watching this I’m going to keep going every 6 months
First time viewing.. your. Locs are beautiful.. I admire the free form less manipulative is better depending on how your hair response. Thanks for explaining what is free forming. I’m about to start my two strand twist locs as well and is looking forward to see how my locs progresses. Hopefully down the road when my hair flourish to the point i can space out my retwisting I might reconsider. Thank you
Love your hair and your family!! You and your husband are a perfect match!!! Keep the good shit coming!!!
Loving your channel so far. New subbbie here and I just started my loc journey a few days ago. Excited and educating myself as I go and grow❤🤎🖤
When you cut your hair it kinda helped me to not care so much about HAIR. You look marvelous woman.
OMG! It is so much thicker than it use to be!
It's beautiful.
Gonna try not twisting for a few months and just separate after washing. Thanks gor the tips.
Listen yo. I was about to braid my hair but I just seen your videos on your kids locs and I fell in love. I am so excited for your kids having such a wonderful stylist as a mother (and a great mother as it would seem) also excited for to start mine. My hair is maybe 5 or 6 inches long, any tips on how to best take care of them without products?
I sweat in my scalp, so my retwist don't last 2 weeks. I love your journey. I've watched you do a retwist and I think I'm doing it correctly.
You always inspire me. Thank you for sharing. My hair is newly locked as of March 2020. I did them myself.
I just made a vow to start this challenge today . I'll take pics during this journey I'll be back may 12 2021 wish me luck
Love videos, since I've started watching I've decided to stop using gels and clips to retwist my hair also because I have SLE and it causes my hair to thin I only twist once a month. I love how healthy your locs are, I have mohawk locs, I'm going to give this a try😁 Thank You
Two quick questions. How do you do moisturize your locs but preserve your retwist as well? How often do you moisturize your locs?
nickyworth25 I lights spray water before applying the oils. Once a week works for me
I love my freeform locks but your hair cool
Tu for sharing the video. I am in the baby stage with my locs and I love them. I might try something like that after my first year of locs.
I love that I've come across your channel. Your videos are quite helpful, and they also have positive energy flowing through. I'm going to try your technique. Mine are still short, so it isn't always easy to wrap the hairs around the way I see you doing it, but I am certainly going to be mindful to try. Man joe idea u but your my favorite auntie on UA-cam 😂😂😂 i go to ya videos daily i miss ya hair but i like ya current process 👏🏽
That totally helped me, cause I haven't twisted my locs for a least 3 or 4 months
Hello, thank you for your video. I wish I had watched your video prior to starting my locs
I love your hair 😍😍😍 beautiful!!!! Thanks for sharing Dxlyn 💗
3 of my locs fell out, how caN I REPAIR THAT?
Wonderful...I'm three month into "No Retwist". It's like an afro with locs on it! lol!
I wasn't expecting this but I like it!
