If the encrypted folder inside Overdrive on the PC has been deleted can the cryptomator be helpful in recovering? What if Hackers even though online cannot access the information from the encrypted folders in Onedrive if they delete the entire folder and then those changes sync to the PC. Then all is gone. Does image backup such as EasUS ToDo on PC backup the encrypted folders on OneDrive on PC?
I'm on windows 11 and I'm running into issues. I downloaded the right .exe file from the correct web address and double checked it with reddit. I installed the program after downloading it but I can't open the application to add folders to a vault. There is nothing else with Cryptomator after the installation, just the installer. I ran it as administrator and nothing.
Hi Leo, I was wondering how a website can determine if I am human or not? for example I checked out the Alex Jones site, and a flash of a page came up stating just that: "Just checking to see if you are human" !? It did let me on the site! Is it a type of spying? Or just distinguishing if it's AI or Me? Thank you! Sincerely, Fawn
There are many, many ways sites try to do so. You've seen CAPTCHAs (identify all the squares with bikes, for example). Because those are so intrusive attempts are being made to try other things that are less obvious. Behavior is a good example. If you type keys or move the mouse like a human would then perhaps you're human. I'm sure there's much more to it ... they try to use things they can watch unobtrusively.
The software keeps working (unlike BoxCryptor). And we all move to a different solution. Even if the software did stop working (which it, again, would not), we would instead restore from our unencrypted backups.
That's true, and Cryptomator is open source, if the original devs quit maintaining it, another group could fork it; as was the case with Trucrypt and VeraCrypt.

Very useful info! Thanks Leo!
Nice video. Where we store the unencrypted version of our files? Unencrypted means no secure

As long as the files are marked as "available offline" or "always on PC", then a backup will back them up, yes.
Thanks for the content.
My cryptomator makes remote connections everytime I create a new vault. In and out... hum, What may be the resason for that?
I don't know. You should ask them.

What happens if Cryptomator goes out of business?

maybe archiving a version of cryptomator would be helpful.
