- In the Turkish drama Heart of the City (Bu Şehir Arkandan Gelecek), Ali, a sailor who witnessed his father murder his mother, falls in love with a ballet dancer named Derin, who yearns to be free from her oppressive family. The Ay Yapim production made its debut in prime time earlier this year on ATV in Turkey. It is being sold internationally by Eccho Rights as both a finished series and format.
Kerem Bursin and Leyla Lydia Tuğutlu, who portray Ali and Derin, respectively, sat down with TV Drama's Mansha Daswani to discuss the show and their characters. They also share why they think Turkish drama has been so successful around the globe, noting that the multicultural country is a bridge between the East and West.

I’ve been drawn to watch Turkish series as they portray universal themes that we can all relate and very dramatic, romantic and with sense of humour too. So far Kerem and Lydia impressed me. They are both multi-lingual, great in their roles, very charismatic and i hope to see more of them and in Netflix too.
He is so right, I am from Chile and everybody there is crazy about Turkish dramas. I've been living in New Zealand for 20 years and only recently staring watching them, I can see the connection between the cultures so dead right, I would love to visit Turkey now, beautiful enriched culture and the food looks just amazing too!

Interesting interview with both actors speaking English beautifully. Thank you for posting. Kerem’s American accent was surprising. He has no trace of a Turkish accent when speaking English which is uncommon. I’m from Australia and really enjoy learning about Turkish culture.

This is awesome to be able to listen to the actors interviews and speaking in English. I love watching Turkish drama and was able to pick up several words here and there, but if there isn’t English subtitle. I can’t wait to watch this!
Im not turkish but I love watching Turkish dramas bcoz a lot of their stories are full of not only beautiful and handsome actors , actresses, but becoz it contains lots of humour, romance, comedy, adventures and what I find amusing is their way of life, its fascinating culture, food and beautiful places ,sceneries and great location shoots on each film that you feel like you are right there in their setting of their stories. Ive never been so addicted to watching another foreign country drama series more than Turkish drama ......I enjoyed it so much , more than the usual American or Spanish telenovelas.......😊😍😍❤❤❤

Türkiyede ingilizce öğrenmeye heves yok.Benim vardı, ikisininden de iyi konuşuyorum, her aksanı yapabiliyorum.Ingiliz, Iskoç,amerikan,irlanda,etc..Tamamen kişiye bağlı birşey
Bir yabancı dili konuşmaya yönelik öğrenmenin kuralı yabancı dilin konuşulduğu yerde birkaç ay ya da yıl geçirmekle olur yani bu işin Türkiye ile ilgisi yok evet leyla tuğutlu Almanya’da büyümüş ama Amerika veya İngiltere’de de bulunmuş olabilir bunu bilmiyoruz sadece bir yabancı dil konuşulduğu yerde öğrenilir yani Türkiye’de herkesin Türkçe konuştuğu bir yerde nasıl İngilizceni geliştirebilirsinki? Dili konuşabileceğin kimse yok (grammerdan bahsetmiyorum , konuşmadan bahsediyorum) Erasmus , Mevlana gibi yurt dışı eğitim programları bunun için var zaten
