Is it time to add another honey super?

- We take a look at three of our colonies - the "lazy" colony that hasn't made much progress, the "super swarm" that might need its fifth super (that would be a personal record for us) and to see if the developer rescued colony from last fall is finally ready for a super. We are running out of time - not sure how long the honey flow will last!
It's so fun to watch you guys! We have one hive that she friends have is when they moved. Miss you😊
They look great!
The 2nd entrance for the excluder, where did you get it? Thanks.
I purchased it at a local beekeeping store. Since that time, I have found the excluders with the wood frames just don't work very well. I exclusively use the single thin layer metal or plastic excluders now.
@@BrookHillHoneyMrGsHoneybees Thank you.
Why don't you add a frame of honey from another super to the "Lazy" hive to encourage them upward to build faster?
Thanks for the idea - I have never tried it. Probably too late for this season with the honey flow pretty much done, but I will keep it in mind for the future.
@@BrookHillHoneyMrGsHoneybees - How long is your season? I'm in Tennessee, so mine will continue until mid October. Which is our fall gardening season also.
Our dearth typically starts in late June, early July and we harvest in August. There isn't much here at this point in the season, although with all of the rain around, there is still clover, so hopefully they will pack away a little more in the next week or so.
