My late uncle Joseph MacLellan had the priviledge of knowing the Rankin Family personally. He went to college with their beloved father, and through him I was given the most closest experiences with the Rankin sisters, even being able to sit and sing with them during my 18th birthday. My love for music and the challenge of learning the gaelic language blossomed because of these fine musicians... rest with God Raylene, you are missed and I thank you for your courageous battle.
Beautiful song of hope for the living. Thanks for giving us such an uplifting thought, as we remember our grandparents and parents who brought us to where we all are today. And now, we look to our children and grandchildren to carry on. Thank you Raylene, Than you Rankin family.
Love, love, love this video, and All music sung and produced by the Rankins. Such an amazing bomb of talent, love and expertise. Raylene must have had a few bills forwarded to her for shattering glass in every venue she visited ❤️🇨🇦
I have just found this. I lived in NB Canada for a bit and fell in love with the Rankins and their beautiful music. My deepest condolences to the family and all who loved them. This is a beautiful, moving tribute. 🕯🕯
I just found this. I have had the opportunity of meeting and knowing her from our Law School. Her picture cannot ever tell how much beauty she had in her soul.
Raylene was such a good singer and just amazing at so much💕. Rest in peace sweet woman. Your music is something, we will listen to forever. My hubby Stewart MacLean was born I Cape Breton. Nicest place in Csnada❤🎸
I have been thinking of Raylene, her husband and son, and all her surviving siblings..as Christmas 2012 approaches. I hope that they will all be helped to get through this difficult Holiday Season by knowing that their many many fans are keeping them, and Raylene, close in thoughts and prayers.
My husband had the privilege of talking to Raylene shortly before her passing. What a beautiful lady and a talented group which we have followed from the beginning. Since then we have moved to Cape Breton and have embraced this beautiful place and it's people with no desire to ever leave. :)
They make me proud to be a Canadian. I have always wondered why the beautiful, soothing, inspirational music from the Rankins, Rita McNeil, Ashley McIsaac, Anne Murray and so many others come from the Maritimes. One thought is that these provinces are often at the mercy of the unpredictable weather that comes their way. They seem to grin and bear it all.
Its the smaller women that will surprise you. My mom sung in a church choir and one of her friends was that way. Killer voice in a small package. It was always awesome to listen to her wind it up
I always thought she had this spark or twinkle in her eye. She was the one I was most drawn to visually. R.I.P.. This family has had a ROUGH time of it. Of the 8 people who were in the group at one time - 3 are now dead. Jeez. My sincere condolences.
At Celtic Colours this year there was a tribute to Leon Dubinsky (who was there to enjoy it). When they closed with Rise Again all I could think of was Raylene's performance of this song. My favourite is still the one from the 1984 stage musical titled "The Rise and Follies of Cape Breton" included on one of the Sounds of Nova Scotia albums. In my mind this wonderful song will always be associated with Raylene - especially the amazing ending.

The voice of an Angel is now with her choir. Amen.
