Took me over a decade to realize that the reason Gol and Maya needed the sages wasn't just to force them to build the thing, but also that it's the reason the robot is able to attack in the first place The laser - Blue Eco, focused into a laser, like at the temple The green balls - Green Eco, to create lurkers when combined with Dark Eco The bombs - Red Eco, all that fury harnessed and released as an explosion The fireball - Yellow Eco, supercharged into an energy blast
IIRC the lurkers were always just kind of around (basically the worlds wildlife) and they weaponized them by making them their minions/workers. Mostly hinted at things like the rats (the guy in the swamp mentioned them only recently being a problem that chased his pet away) and the researcher pointing out the creatures being chased underground which previously were just fine. Jak 2 also just outright points this out with the friendly lurker mentioning they're influence is what made them evil.
This is it, the best song in the game. Everything about it is just amazing. This one of the main things makes this game my favourite game of all time. And also, I've been wondering what is on the rest of disc 2 because all of the songs have been played now (unless you count the song after the final boss in the cutscene)
The people who made jak 1 2 3 are long gone from naughty dog, heck I bet some are retired now. So nope, not gonna happen. And I mean, do you wanna give them a chance? Look what they did to the last of us. Do you want Jak to be transgender? Dexter to be a Chinese genderfluid drag queen and samos to be a strong independent black lesbian woman? No thanks. Gaming is dead. The golden age of PS2 however, will always be with us. ❤
@@luckyducky4066 ah, found the transgender 250lb redditor wearing diapers and a wig with gandalf beard and a hideous makeup, thinking he's a pretty woman.
@@luckyducky4066 oh, we find the transgender redditor. You're exactly the reason why gaming is wrong. Because of you it has to be gender politics and not gameplay. Look at how you people butchered the last of us 2
Hey BoomerStreams! Great version of the soundtrack, i've listened this theme tons of time on UA-cam and i'm glad you uploaded this video! The boss clip and the player add a great touch, good work fam! Have my like, you deserve it
I love that goal and maya spent all this time cobbling together a precursor robot and it's not even good. It's an extremely easy fight for a final boss.
"Soon the Dark Eco will be ours!" "Eco won't protect you now!" "No mercy!" "He just won't give up..." "Light Eco, it DOES exist!" "They must not be allowed to get it!" "Light Eco? That could be the stuff to change me back! ....Or....it could stop that robot. Hm...stay fuzzy...save the world...choices...Okay fine, we'll save the world...but do it quickly before I change my mind!!"
based on the original world bible this appears to be intentional; the proboscis was used to suck eco out of the planet to power all its tools and so forth. This was very early production and a lot of it got rewritten (for one thing Maia was explicitly a witch in that document), so no guarantee it's still canon, but the design language most likely did actually start with a mosquito because of this. It's also worth noting the detail of the robots being terraformers the precursors used to sculpt planets, as well as the rough configuration of gadgets it has, came back in Jak 3, so it's possible this particular bit of obscure maybe-lore was actually kept in.
Imo while this boss was amazing, it could've been a bit better with this addition. If a remake were to occur, a personal 2 on 1 fight would be the final phase of the boss. After jak uses the light eco to blow up the robot and the head falls in the pit, Gol's fist will bust out of the eye and he'll scream "YOU ARE NOT TAKING THIS FROM US" and they'll both emerge from the head. Maia will then say "Lets see if the great Samos really taught you how to use eco" and the final phase will commence. You will stay in light form this entire part and the silo roof will be wide open, so you need to watch your step. You now have access to ALL light eco powers at the same time. Gol and Maia will attack with energy blasts from their hands, forcing you to use blue eco speed to dodge them. Maia will then throw dark eco bombs and using the strength of red eco, you kick them back at the two before they explode. Next is to take them both out of their floating and get them to the ground by shooting them both with yellow eco. Once they're down, they will both kneel and gol will say "We will never stop" and you'll be told to press the punch button one last time to unleash a white eco blast. It'll send them both flying into the robot head, and the impact being so hard it closes the silo roof, sealing them inside and defeating them for good
Can you please release that font? I know you probably extracted it from the game with help from Luminar or something, I tried the same method but wasn't very successful in turning the flat texture file the game provides into an actual workable font like you did! Looks incredible and as somebody that has been constantly googling 'Jak and Daxter menu font" for years with no success I feel obligated to ask for a release from you. For private use only of course. Thanks Boomer
its different because this soundtrack is the uncompressed release, all PS2 audio tracks are severely compressed, this is the raw audio file, therefore it is far, far higher quality, almost like you're hearing it as new

@@RavenVI I think they're referring to the corrupted lurkers during the final boss.
I imagine the floating explosives they launch at you between phases are probably powered by Dark Eco.

You'll find out in a bit! I'm currently working on visualizing them, as they're from areas that don't exist in the game.
@@BoomerStreams Not in areas in the game?! That sounds interesting, I'm looking forward to it! :D
this boss fight was the biggest challenge for me as a kid.
The quality is outstanding, sounds better than in the game.

Every time I replay this game I always always look forward to this theme and boss fight.
