Thu Le, a Vietnamese female guitarist, graduated from the Hanoi National Conservatory of Music in the year 2001.
She started learning guitar below the age of four with her father, Le Hanh and at the age of five had her first public performance.
She passed the entrance examination of the Conservatory at the age of seven, making her the youngest student ever being admitted.
Thu Le has given many concerts in Europe and Asia including France, UK, Bulgaria, Turkey, India, Malaysia, Thailand...
Her latest solo album is " Back in Time", released in August 2014.
Beside performing, Le Thu is also teaching Classical guitar:
- National Conservatory of Music, Hanoi from 2002 to 2004.
- Yamaha Music Foundation, Hanoi from 2002 to 2009.
- Bridge Music Academy, New Delhi, Head Guitar Department, January 2010 to June 2012
- Institute of Music Dynamics, Gurgaon, August 2011 to present
Le Thu won several national and international prizes in Guitar competitions:
- ‘Best Vietnamese Composition Performance’, National Guitar Competition, 2000
- ‘Best Guitarist from Asia’, Calcutta International Guitar Festival and Competition 2010
- 3rd prize, Asia International Guitar Competition, Bangkok 2011
- 3rd prize, International Guitar Festival and Competition, Sinaia, Romania, 2011
- 3rd prize Twents guitar Festival and competition, Holand, 2013
- 1st prize Calcutta International Guitar Festival and competition, India 2013
- 2nd prize Nicolas Afonso International Guitar Competition, Brussels, Belgium 2014.
- 3rd prize Jose Tomas International Guitar competition, Villa de Petrer, Spain 2014
-1st prize at Nilufer International Guitar festival and Competition, Bursa, Turkey 2015
-3rd prize at Nordhorn International guitar Competition, Germany 2015

I am so curious if this recording is made with a piezo element as well. The sound is very crispy. She is playing transparent and I love the way she is paying attention to the different voices in the chords.

Todo el espíritu porteño desde vietnam, maravillosa thu le. Ya tocar guitarra es dificil, hacerlo bién es mas dificultoso pero mas dificil aún es interpretar una obra de una cultura muy diferente y Thu Le lo hace magistralmente, hermosa.

Thu le, Living her dream. Doing it her way. Setting the world on fire with her fingers . Thu Le, playing on six strings , she's got it laying it down turning it around doing it her way. Thu Le laying it down playing it her way. this came to me for a song idea.lol. Im just playing around with it. its 2."30 am i sing and play and a practicing song writer. When i heard you say your living your dream in that interview i keep thinking about that sometimes when i see you play. Ohio fan James.P
What impresses me about this performer is her absolute command and hence her ability to master the expression in a piece such as this. It is a joy to listen to it.

Stunning performance by Thu Lê but this Guitar is not a concert level, no matter how the luthier advertising it. The Luthier concert series probably great but not this particular Guitar.

She play too good but the guitar sound Is harsh steely cold sound . But this just my opinion as I don’t like the guitar sound .
She lacks the same rhythm and feel that Roland Dyens ha when he arranged the song. Sure, she has technique and whatever, but the timing is so pushed, it lacks the dips and turns and speeding and SLOWING DOWN of the song itself. She just jams all the notes and keeps going, nonstop. Yes, great display of technique, but bad display of rhythm...
Yeah, taking way too many liberties with the rhythm, changes the piece for the worse.
She is free to to it! It's her own interpretation of the song. I dont like her style myself, but ... I prefer the interpretation of Pirai Vacca when he was young :-)
Interesting what is being said here. I have nothing but praise for this woman as I think she is a phenomenal player but I was a little disappointed with this rendition. It was very good but parts of it just didn t do it for me. She still plays it considerably better than I do. One of the versions on youtube that I really fell in love with was the one by Kaori Muraji. It would be interesting to know if anyone agrees with me.

She is a fine concert guitarist, but her performance of this is too polite and restrained. Listen to the composer's interpretation for the real tango feel.
