#Pavement #WoweeZowee
i love the idea of ibold being some kind of street menace
Alternative Title: “Spiral Stairs has his Revenge”
This is the best video they ever made
UNABOMBER NONPLUSSED
malkmus called an ambulance for hismelf after he found out he's out of pavement
One of their best songs.
It's my favourite.
I'd say Kennel District is the best of Scott's tracks.
I agree, this is easily on of there best songs. Easily top 5.
Yep
Date with Ikea (another of Scotts' songs) is also great, as are so many Pavement tunes :-)
I think this is the meanest Mark Ibold has ever looked.Always crack up at this video, and they played it at the second Atlanta show earlier this month!
Huge Pavement fan and went to their show the other night. This was the only song I didn't recognize. Never knew they did a song for the Kids in the Hall movie soundtrack.
First time I've heard it and I've been listening to them for years. Finally going to see them tomorrow night too.
This video is hard-core '90s. Love it.
My favorite pavement song, for now
Spiral stairs should've actually done this. Wowee Zowee would have gone platinum
Lol.
Brilliant video. And Malkmus and the ambulance? Classic.
Yes with Malkmus crossing himself. He's got a great sense of humour :)
the director commentary for this on the DVD is one of the funniest things I've ever heard. they forgot to time all the jokes, malkmus HATED doing his bit here too, he was ill and it was freezing, and he thinks that terrible shot of him driving looks awful. check it out if you can.
+sevendaughters what DVD is that on?
+stupidwalrus155 Slow Century. It's cool. Pavement doc, vids, buncha songs from gigs.
Cool, I had seen the vid of it here on YT but must've missed that part (or it's not included). I'll try and buy it - thanks for the quick response!
I'm not sure if I'd be more excited to be Pavement being featured on a KITH soundtrack or the Kids in the Hall being able to feature Pavement.
Bob actually makes an income in the horse racing business, and Mark is a bartender in Brooklyn so you know he eats nails for breakfast.
Words can't describe how much this music makes me feel at home.
The title of the song most likely comes from when Wowee Zowee was being recorded; Steve West set up an art studio near where they were recording the album, and started painting plastic civil war figurines.
Best band to ever band
I first heard this on the soundtrack to Brain Candy, the Kids In The Hall Film, and then, I had one of the worst breakups of my life, this song was there for me to play over and over and over until the hurt went away. Thanks pavement 😊
Is it my imagination or is the ambulance driver at 1:35 supposed to represent/mock Billy Corgan referencing the feud he had with Pavement over “Range Life”?
That would make sense as a reference to Billy driving the ice cream truck in SP’s “Today” video
I thought it was Matt Sweeney from Chavez
The order they're fired in is Bob Nastanovich, Mark Ibold, Stephen Malkimus, and Steve West. I didn't know what they looked like until I saw this.
Malkmus' whole scene with the ambulance would be a great reaction gif
This video is hilarious! Just great.
Rock Normale Funny to think I saw these two bands 20 years apart !
I met Stephen after a show in Boise, ID back in the 90s. It was surreal. He was kindly patient with my over-excited ass. 🤣
omg lucky!!
its on the dvd slow centrury and .wowee zowee delux re-issue etc.. gota love them spiral stairs!
Louise Post is so effortlessly cool
Haha, in 2021 I see the video for this one for the very first time. And it has Veruca Salt in there, one of my favourite bands back then. This is funny. Only took me 26 years... ;-)
Alternative title: Scott pushes pavement off the spiral stairs.
My favorite bit is firing Malkmus. Laurel begging Hardy for a gun with camera angles and an ambulance!
eu amo esses rapazes
Westie can act
Damn straight
But can he drum...
@@josephbeckmann8106 I mean, he's not the best drummer ever, but yeah, he can
@@Boomie_the_handle Of course he can I was just riffing on the song Westie Can Drum thinking that was what the OP was possibly referring to since the chorus in that song is "oh Westie, he cannot drum". I guess you could say he's average but he was one part of the whole that made such good music that Pavement is still in my top ten favorite bands along with Built to Spill, Silver Jews, The Jicks, Pixies and so on. I know, crazy that three of my top ten are related. Now the question is who was the better Pavement drummer? I'd have to go with Young on that one.
Sick video amazing music
Love this song ❤️
Coolest Pavement video ever!
Bob got fired at the horse track, now he works at the horse track here in Iowa.
He used to live here in Louisville near Churchill. Cool that y'all have him in Des Moines.
Such a weird song because it’s just SS talking about his relationship with Malkmus and the band while simultaneously being in the band.
I don't understand how the lyrics mean what you say. Can you explain further?
love it
Somebody needs to make a gif of the kid at 2:28
Brilliant ✨🥛✨
Still one of the funniest videos' ever made.
oo woo hoo hoo
Pavement has 11K subs as I write this in 2021. Just one sign of why the world is so backwards.
2024 62.000
Muy buena canción
It was on the soundtrack to the Kids In The Hall Brain Candy film.
Spiral stairs fired everyone to make his own band.
cool t-shirt at 2:28
+The Charles Baker Harrises I have that "Pavement ist Rad" t-shirt. I'll have to dig it out of my closet...
do you have three pavement t shirts though.... ;)
Think only two. I have the green one with the guys that kinda look like the cover of Wowee Zowee.
+Mygirls2010-12 cool I haven't seen that one! I've got the orange 'Canada pavement mexico' one, the one that looks like the 'frasier' logo, and the 'quarantine the past-like' one.
Love Veruca Salt
What a great idea. Putting another known band (Veruca Salt) in your video to play your band. Pavement should've repeated the idea and play Veruca Salt in their next video.
Best song Veruca Salt never played on.
Come back please!!!!
Remember this video song, but does anyone know where it comes from? Was it a none LP single or B-Side? Really like it and the video.
+Bored Now I tracked it down, its off the Kids in the Hall Brain candy soundtrack. Its on the Wowee Zowee sordid sentinels re-issue too. Kannberg (spiral stairs) wrote the lyrics. Pretty much foretold the future, and if you read any interviews, Spiral really "didn't want it to end this way."
Thank-you. I have WZ reissues just must have forgotten it was on there. Will look out for that soundtrack.
esse é um dos videos mais tristes da historia
It would have been so cool if it was actually Weezer at the end like they originally planned🥲
Total classic
all my stairs are spiralled
Excelente influencia Dinosaurjuniorana.
Where did this song and video come from? I’ve been listening for decades and I don’t recognize it.
???
This is why you always join Slint or Tortoise.
Slint=greatest band to come outta Louisville!
please explain this comment
Malkmus' scene is the stupidiest scene ever. In a positive way of course.
veruca salt
2:27 lmao
The thumbnail looks similar location to the Beatles rehearsing in Twickenham for the let it be sessions, the way the lighting is and practicing in a warehouse type scenario. Accidental by design or intentional?
i love veruca salt
Malkmus should have let spiral stairs do more of his stuff....damn musician's egos!
it's a difficult thing to do.. and there's a distinct difference between the vocal of Spiral and Malkmus. continuity becomes less pronounced and if the gap is to wide then the albums can take on a schizophrenic vibe..
You can listen to SS solo stuff or Preston School of Industry to get an idea of what it would have sounded like if SS had more contributions. SS's stuff that was included in Pavement was his strongest material. I only wish he had two songs on Terror Twilight instead of none.
Spiral Stairs hijacking the band sounds like it’s logical conclusion.
Is one of the EMT Matt Sweeney from Chavez?
I don't really sing, but I'm sure I could replace Bob Nastanovich :) Oh, and shmood3000, apparently, according to Wiki, Bob's a horse racing fanatic. Not sure about West and his throng of children. But, love this song.
Allan Ostermann Bob isn't singing, it's Spiral Stairs
@Pain Set To Music I know. I just felt this need to diedlb.lllllalways picture Bob as a frat boy added to the line-, ap for shits and giggles. His limited contribution consist
Someone could remember me the name of this pavement’s album !?!?
how come i have never heard this song before
It wasn't on one of their albums, it only ever appeared on the Kids In the Hall: Brain Candy movie soundtrack album. (Funny, for years this was the only Pavement song I actually knew because i owned that soundtrack, but none of the band's albums)
This video was on MTV quite a bit.
i dont remember this. what album is it on?
Are the lyrics a silver ghost reference?
2:23 that girl looks like abigail breslin
Its Louise Post from Veruca Salt. The Seethers Louise.
i know veruca salt. i am talking about one of “steve’s kids”
I genuinely thought that was Phil elverum in the beginning 😂
Sounds like the flaming lips
Haha I love all the kids are crying because steves pavement contract got ripped up
Who are the Girls At the end of vid ??
the band veruca salt
Unabomber nonplussed?
Steve West looks a little too much like Andy Dick, and I find that unsettling.
That’s fair
Unabomber nonplussed.
Only one comment??
Edit: two now
Continuity issue with Ibold's cigarette...
lol
