I have a Coraline theory:
Coraline’s real mother knows about the beldam!
When you look at the scene where she looks through the drawer for the keys, she gives a very odd look at the key. Maybe, she’s saw the button on the end and it reminded her of the beldam, that also explains why she locked the door. When Coraline kept speaking about the other world she got concerned and locked the door. I’m not sure when they could’ve met but you can look into it if you want 😊
Maybe that house was the mother's childhood home where she grew up in and one day she went into the small door and met the beldam but when she found out the beldam's true intentions,she ran away and locked the door and threw the key away so no one can ever go there again but when she went back there with her family as an adult and saw the same key being there,she got suspicious.
For me ice age 3 was the best one in the franchise I don’t mind 4 it’s good too but 3 has the best send off when Many got the kid ect
