- We return to Atomic Speedway for the second time in 3 weeks. This time for the World of Outlaws Late Model Invasion, Fireball 50 weekend. Tonight is opening night featuring a 40 lap $10,000 to win main event that was one of the most action packed we have seen in a while. It literally has everything you could think of happening! I live in Somerset now.
I grew up running around in the junk yard with my dad and Mike when Mike was in his 20's.
When scenic raceway was in its prime
He built a modified street for my dad
I've still got pictures in front of me right now of the car
With built by Mike marlar on the side
This would be circa late 98-01.
I grew up playing with hot wheels in the dirt with Cameron in the infield at tracks watching Mike jump in and out of late models and opens along with his best friend Chris
That is incredible! I still remember his 1st race at Burnside in a Road Hog white Chevelle 57jr he led every lap of it and won. It inspired me actually as I am about 3 yrs younger than him. I started racing the next season myself and was fortunate enough to get to race with him in Modifieds for quite a while before he moved on to Late Models. I have fond memories of Scenic Raceway. It was the nicest track around here at that time and big and fast, I miss that Place!
