Been using this for over a year with Studio One 5. Fantastic! Absolutely love it. Sounds great. Works great. All in one unit taking up a small footprint on my desk. Same preamps in higher priced units.
I just copped one of these on reverb for 150.00 NEW. Literally THE best purchase I've made in a decade. I absolutely love this thing. Planning on getting the Faderport 8 after the end of the year.
Similar situation for me. I originally wanted the fader port for automation and then discovered the iOstation. I have a bigger interface so I figured I could use the two inputs at my desk or if I’m doing smaller things. Also needed to upgrade to a better DAW so the included packages made it a no brainer. A little bummed out to find you can’t split phantom power to one input but that’s the only con it seems. Thanks for the video!
@@PolymerJones it’s been a while since writing the comment. I believe i was bummed that phantom power would be enabled to both inputs rather then having two separate buttons for each input in case I had different mic types. I got it either way and mainly use it for the controller so it’s a bonus to have the option to record with it.
@@netuno_music I’m not too sure as I record with a bigger interface and mix separately with the Iostation. It has its own power via usb so I’m guessing you could use it as a controller while recording with another interface. My guess is that you would set the controller as the playback device and the interface as the recording device. I haven’t tried it myself though so I can’t guarantee anything.
Absolutely articulate and eloquent in your presentation Bro! I've had my ioStation 24c for a year now (February 2022), and for it's small and compact form, it's really a beast of a tool. I've adjusted to being able to even travel with it. I simply stick it in my Mono Bag along with my 14" MBP, Maschine+, headphones, condenser mic, BT speaker and even a portable battery pack (only for the Maschine+ of course), but as soon as I'm in the hotel room and meeting up with the beat crew and vocally gifted friends, this has worked flawlessly and has definitely been a game changer and at a lot of times, a life saver! Awesome video and review too Bro! Keep on keeping on!!
@@tuneroneff I'm glad my comment provided some help! It really is awesome! I've actually just used it to go live on Twitch as well, as a user interface! OBS recognized it as an interface and my mic (HyperX Quadcast) sounded even better than when I hooked it up to my Mackie Line 8 Mixer which you'd think would output a better signal. Maybe it's because there are too many lines on the mixer as opposed to having only two to focus phantom power on. Nevertheless, I believe you've made the right decision!!
11.05 Pantom power. I believe a mic will only use phantom power if it needs it. You can send phantom power to a mic even if it doesn't use it ie SM58??
This is true for 98% of microphones. Condenser mics need it, dynamic mics (like the SM58) will ignore it, but it will destroy passive ribbon mics. There are also active ribbon mics, which need phantom just like condensers.
I own one of these and it’s turbo charged my workflow with Studio One. It’s pretty much perfect as a control surface and the sound quality is amazing with loads of gain and clean output even with huge orchestral tracks. I even pack it to go with me on the road cause I don’t like to work without it…ever. 😅
Found a similar deal - how has yours held up? Maybe I missed something, but why do you frame it like you had to buy new software and not use what you already had or other DAW? Did you try the alt modes?
CAUTION!!! Holy shit! Bud...LISTEN! (I can't type this fast enough) - Phantom power is on/off for BOTH mic pre's. Don't combo condenser/ribbons with the ioStation! Per the manual: "Pressing the 48V button switches phantom power on and off for all microphone inputs" .... it's all or none, you can NOT pick and choose. Quick Edit: I've had one of these ioStations since they were introduced for when I extend travel, trust me on this... don't EVER push that 48V button with a ribbon in EITHER combo jack.
Unsure about that. I don’t remember reading anything about that the manual, however I could be wrong. I no longer own this interface so I couldn’t confirm.
I just migrated from a (dated intel i7 3770) Win10 Pro rig back to Mac OS (somewhat less dated intel i7 4770 2013 iMac), and after years of growing tired with Reaper? I seemingly remembered that I had actually purchased an old license for Studio One that I bought from a past Sweetwater promotion whilst Christmas shopping online? Haha! Anyway... When I went to transfer that account to the Mac? I was instantly offered a free 4 month trial of Studio One Sphere! Needless to say? I am VERY impressed with how Studio One 6 has evolved since I first tried it years ago, and the full unlimited package that Sphere offers?! Combined with their open community ecosystem approach? I'm sold. The first digital interface that I ever spent a vast amount of time with in a legit working environment years ago was with the 8 pre Presonus Firepod (firewire didn't last long haha!), and my first personal home interface was the original 2 pre Presonus Audiobox USB (that I unfortunately blew channel 1 out on by unplugging a dynamic mic whilst using the shared phantom power for a condenser in channel 2. DeRp! Haha) Currently I'm using a Gen2 Focusrite 18i8 I got a couple years back, but seeing as I rarely even use more than 2 inputs at a go? I'm seriously considering getting one of these, and then later investing in something like a Presonus Quantum Thunderbolt interface. Great demo BTW! Really dig that guitar and playing mi amigo : ) Cheers!
Alright Cruz. I’m subscribed and thanks for the info. I’ll consider the iOStation 24, but I have the Presonus Audiobox 44, and I wonder if it’s worth the Chanel loss.
Thank you! I would say the pre amps are better in the iOStaion and offer a bit more headroom. But the channel loss might be a workflow issue. I’m currently using the SSL12 and really enjoy it.
@@JCruzProject got you got you thanks. This is one of those products where I can't seem to fine much honest reviews on (mostly just sponsored or NAMM-like videos). Might just have to follow my gut 🤙🏿
I believe the 24c comes with a copy of Studio One Artist (at least now it does), so you’re not completely out of luck. I just got one and have been using it for a couple of weeks and wow, I’m loving it.
Debatable. In my opinion, the PreSonus interfaces have a tad more features as a whole. The newer preamps (such as in the 24c) seem to offer more clarity verses coloring. For me that’s cool because it allows me (the user) the control of dictating what I want my signal to sound like. However, the Focusrite stuff is amazing. Both have won awards and therefore can get the job done. Honestly, for the money, the ioStation is really hard to beat. You get so much out of one product.
