@@alteregosocialWhat makes a giant stop and stare at you at certain ranges and what makes his vison pass right by you (e.g. I saw in the video one point he stopped lokking forwards and looked directly at you and other times he glanced pass?) also does crouch walking count as movement?
If you kill a giant, be sure to move out of it's way when it dies, think of its corpse as a giant extension ladder, we found it out hilariously thr hard way.
The code confirms that this is true. If you're underneath the giant when it dies, you'll die too. When scanning the body, the cause of death will be "Gravity".

I once had an INTENSE forest keeper encounter. I was on march and I was heading back to the ship, but as I’m walking, I hear the giant. I got scared but remembered that standing behind anything that can fully cover ur body will prevent u from being spotted. so as I watched the giant roam the forest, I was heading from tree to tree. And eventually I made it to the ship without being spotted. when I told my teammate about it, he said he was watching me the entire time, he also told me good job. Big brain move I made to avoid the giant. The encounter was way more intense than what I just said
Thats what most game AI designers will tell you. If you make an AI too smart, it becomes unpredictable and not fun... so they often make them dumb on purpose to keep it feeling like a game
@@samuelbarros1563 No no no, what they mean is if you make an AI that will try to do the best things possible in a scenario, it will feel like you’re playing chess against a bot. You forgot to mention you can kill giants pretty easily with thunder if you have a conductive item. A key is great because you can wait until the key is about to go off. Get the aggro of the forest keeper and kill him. This is really helpful for stopping the giant from camping your ship.
Don’t forget the old birds can also kill a giant. Also theres 2 different ambient sounds for when the giant spots you and one for when it chases you so you can tell which one is which
such a cool video ! very interesting, very informative :) now I wonder if an optimised strat would be to crouch far away from a giant making sure he can still see you and waiting until he runs at you, that way everyone else has a decreased suspicion meter
You forgot to mention lightning can also cause burning. And technically a jetpack explosion but thats not ideal. You can bait a giant over a sparking item and sometimes random lightning can result in randomly dead giants.
Amazing! And so details on this one! I have no extra questions this time, ahhaah. Thank you so much for your effort on this research and on sharing it all with us in such an informative way
I had two blind dogs after me and happened to run into a giant instanly grabbing me. However, at that exact moment it grabbed me the two dogs simultaneously did that open mouth dive attack hitting the giant instead, killing it instantly while dropping me in the process while I quietly making my way back into the ship.
One question I have: does he have any resistance to a beacon flash? Like, maybe the stun duration doesn't refresh during his stun animation, or maybe it even prevents him being stunned after the animation for a bit? Because if he doesn't, it means you can permanently remove this big ugly from the equation for the low price of 60 - and if you are daring enough and know what you're doing, you can even take the beacon with you to the ship afterwards. There's also a price of your navigator being delegated to spam ctrl+v every few seconds, but the joy of Giants being downgraded to an epileptic in a rave party is too much to pass on. I'm even gonna leave the bastard a boombox to vibe.
6:32 I was once caught by a giant near the house on Vow, and then a group of Baboon Hawks rescued me by killing the giant and putting me on the roof of the building. Then, they were eaten by a group of Eyeless Dogs.

you mentioned how the sus meter goes into the negs when chasing someone, is there a cap to it or could one person just let the giant chase them for a couple mins and effectively disable the giant chasing everyone else for awhile?
this week i was playing with my friends and suddenly 3 giants spawned at the same time, never saw this happening (it was adamance at 3:00PM) also great guide as always
Do they ever look away when your suspicion meter is going up? I.e. is there any point to stand still for ten seconds if they will eventually aggro on you anyways?
Thats why they always roam around the ship when they saw one of us, interesting, so in this case, someone else has to go since their suspecion meter is lower
I was curious, forest keepers seem to be weak to fire. So can they be lit on fire by being struck by lightning? If yes then perhaps they could potentially be killed by baiting them into a metal object as lightning hits it. I haven’t seen this happen so I’m not even sure if lighting could even hit them. I think it would be a cool mechanic regardless. Edit: I just checked and yes they can be struck by lightning and will burn to death. So yeah that might be a possible way to deal with them.
For next years april fools you should make up a creature with an absurdly complicated behavior pattern which at no point actually involves doing anything to, or about the player.
you didnt mention it in the video, but giants also have a unique interaction on titan where they can reach a hand up the catwalks and physically climb up from the ground. seems rare as ive only had it happen once, but it made me look into it and it seems to have always been a behavior they can display
5:10 so if you can safespot them for a long while they will take a really long time to see every other player in the lobby, right? One person can become a giant battery? Has anyone tried applying this?
REMEMBER: If your suspicion meter is 1 or higher, the giant will chase you AS SOON as he sees you.
