Beautiful video! I’m over from Farmstead Talk, I watched the interview and was intrigued by your story. My daughter spent a few weeks in and a repair Riga this spring and she loved it. Subscribed!
My new discovery im now exploring your channel and a new sub here this was 2 years ago... I will start watching here to know more about your channel...
Hey BH'rs. I saw an article about you guys in the EDP24 online, and it lead me here. I sub to a couple of outdoorsy type channels, so I look forward to seeing your journey over time! good luck from back here in Norfolk.
Hi, thanks for the comment and subscribing. We don't have a lot going on at the moment just battling the snow but when spring comes we'll be non stop no doubt. Thanks again.
What made you travel great distance to a new country, place and homestead? I know you mentioned your wife is from Latvia, is that the reason or just get away from people, rules etc?
We were very much settled in Cromer and had lots of great people around us. My wife had to unexpectedly care for her father and that left us separated. Rules?
@@BalticHomesteaders Oh ok, I meant laws etc. Some people are moving and getting a homesteads due to all the city, state regulations and laws. Being on a homestead, you have more freedom.
STS 1 yes I suppose it’s true that we have more freedoms within the boundaries of our land there are of course still plenty of state laws (different) but there are less (none) neighbours overlooking ready to enforce them on behalf of the state :) with freedoms come responsibility through, to self govern to be sustainable, environmentally conscious etc, things that were taken care for you by the state when you’re in a town etc
I was also thinking about starting a homestead in Latvia but when I did some research on the web I read that people from outside of Latvia could not buy any property in this country only if you married a Latvian partner. But how did you fix this or do you have married a Latvian woman? Or is this changed and anyone from everywhere in Europe can buy land in Latvia?
Hi, yes I'm married to a Latvian (for 14 years). I might be wrong but I thought you can own some land but the amount is limited? I assume you've been here? What area were you looking at? Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@BalticHomesteaders I have not bin in Latvia. But I have the wish to live selfsufficient. In the Netherlands land is far too expensive and there are often much regulations. I thought Latvia does not have a high population density so land is cheap. I think on the regions near the baltic sea near Riga or Jurmala. Looks like the perfect combination of nature and civilisation.
What a wonderful first video for your channel, we are looking forward to watching more of your channel.
Enjoyed viewing very much. I look forward to future videos 👍
Thanks Andreas.

Dutch Prepper well Jumala is likely to be far more than anywhere in Holland and arguably densely populated but I guess everything is relative :)
@@Roel922 Hey! I would recomend north of Riga. If U love sea - Carikva, Saulkrasti, Ainaži. Carnikva is more nature and uninhabited sea side
