Yeah my best friend and I were went on a 3 day Disney Cruise which we both been on before but decided to stay in Art Of Animation, for the night we got off the cruise ship and go into Magic Kingdom. Neither one of us had been to Magic Kingdom and this was in September and it was 99 degrees the day we went to Magic Kingdom and she was Disney Bounding and worn ballet flats I’m like are you sure you wanna those and now something more comfortable and supportive? Yeah and the end of the night on the bus going back to the hotel she was about to die!
I swear by my Chacos for sandals and my Skechers for tennis shoes. Also, for chafing I’ll always use Body Glide on my thighs, plus biker/athletic shorts. Cotton and linen are always going to be more comfortable than polyester as well. Thanks for doing this video! We need more plus size content on the internet!
Sketchers Arch fit!! Nothing could ever compare. Break them in a week before. And slipshorts under your dress. 2 sizes up is the most comfy. Sounds crazy but trust me.
Disposable ponchos are very practical but unfortunately not very eco friendly. I avoid single use plastics as much as I can. Our family brings reusable ponchos and travel size umbrelas to protect from rain in the parks.
I’m going to Florida for the first time in may.... so thank you 🙏 I chaffed once, not at Disney world but it was very painful. So I didn’t know about the gold bond friction! Thank you!
ALL the things!!!! ALL the things!!! I can’t wear crocks but I do wear the yoga sandals. Bike shorts under dresses! Hair up ⬆️ messy bun or hat. Sunglasses! Sunscreen. I only wear lip “stick”, moisturizer with spf and waterproof mascara to the park. Minnie ears! Backpack. 👍👍good video Thank you!!!
I recently lost 70 pounds. Prior to that, I used that stick EVERY SECOND when I was in Disney. We just went last week and I still applied it even though I wasn’t chaffing. I think I’ll apply it for the rest of my life 🤣 but I’ll never forget the time I didn’t use it. Still in pain from the thought....
I have been going to the magic kingdom since I Was a child and the one thing I've learned as a grownup and a dad of three is never and I mean never visit the parks During July and August oh holy God Summer time in Disney is like vacationing on the Sun. November- February are ideal especially if You want to avoid Swamp ass
I completely agree! I’ve always told my husband I’ll only go to Disney in July if it’s a resort only trip and maybe go to the park at night for dinner and fireworks. Late September is manageable, but my favorite months for go are December - February.
We are a big time Disney Family have a DVC .I haven't been to the parks in 3 years sorry going on 4 years I haven't missed it one bit I only go to the resorts to pool lounge visit the bar my wife and kids on the other hand love the parks.
Crocs have been my go to brand of footwear for going to the Disney Parks. I have gotten my second pair of supportive sketchers sandals as my first pair had a major rip in the right one.
I wore canvas Keds to Disneyland once. Big mistake. They got wet almost immediately and stayed wet all day long. Just miserable. My feet were actually messed up for YEARS. I got a fungal infection that required serious intervention.
Wow, didn't even think about my feet/shoes getting wet! Thank you for this tip! Walking around in wet shoes all day is a good way to ruin a nice (& expensive) trip.
I’m going to Disney with my service dog and I’m really worried about the heat in August. You may not have a service dog but do you have any tips for that!
Definitely sign up for their Disability Access Service (DAS) which I believe you just have to have a doctors note for. You’ll need to pre register for DAS within 2-30 days prior to arrival. You can go online and search Disney DAS and you’ll find all the info you need. This will allow you to skip the lines and prevent you both from having to overheat. They won’t allow you of course to take your dog on most rides. I specifically remember someone trying to take an emotional support animal with them on the animal safari and the party had to split up so that half could remain with the dog and take turns riding. I would be similar to their child swap system where you take turns staying with your child or pet. If your dog is a guide dog, they may have different rules. If that’s the case, you may just need to use sighted guide while embarking and disembarking some of the rides. Best of luck on your future trip! And, have fun! 😀
@@savvyjourney hi! So yes I have heard of DAS before. The only problem with that is that peanut is a Psychiatric service dog and I could wait in the lines. I don’t think they will give me one if I don’t have a medical reason to not stand in line. Also I have heard and know a few people who have gone on rides with their service animals. Also this is besides the point but ESA do not have public access so that got me a bit confused when you said that. Anyway, thank you so much for taking the time to comment and give me tips!
@@Peanuttheservicedog I have limited experience myself with DAS, so I definitely recommend speaking with a cast member about it in more detail before your trip. I may be remembering wrong about the family with the ESA, it may have been a different type of service animal. I just remember the cast members on the animal safari at Animal Kingdom telling them the dog could not ride and that they’d have to take turns. The Animal Safari may be an exception though since there are live wild animals on the ride. Best of luck on your trip! I hope it magical no matter the weather. Maybe consider splurging for the Genie+ lightening lanes if you can’t skip the lines with DAS.
I hope I will get to go to Disney World at some point because I haven’t got to ever go there yet but I still have a long way to go cause I’m a young child
My sister is the same way! I’m weird about cloth vs plastic thongs. Cloth for some reason really hurts my feet between my toes, but I’m okay with the plastic/foam type.
Thank you for talking about the Jean shorts, and tennis shoes 👟. I can't wore jeans to Disneyland on a hot day. I also can't do tennis shoes because I cannot wear socks. It is hot. Thanks for keeping 💯
I’m going to Disney world soon (so excited it’ll be my first time going), but I have to wear orthopedic shoes because I have a foot problem. It’s been so difficult finding cute shoes (that fit my style) that are exact to the fit of my foot! Thank you for the tips and tricks tho!
Totally agree with open shoes! We went in the summer in 2019 and I wore slides the entire time. We did 9 days of parks and never once did my feat hurt. Previous trips I wore supportive sneakers all day and changed into flip flops at night and my feet hurt from day 1. The slides in the summer rain was great, only once did it get slippery between feet and slide, and if I am honest, I was almost running at the time to get to cover in buckets of rain so I don't count it.
The rain storms can be pretty crazy and any shoe may have trouble in heavy rain. As long as you have a shoe that dries quick or a back up pair, you’ll be fine! Thank you for the comment!
Thank you for this! I live in Texas so I was looking for an honest video on the weather at WDW and what to wear. Love all of these suggestions! Planning for a trip in December 2021.
Oh, you are very welcome! 2021 is a great year to visit since it's the 50th anniversary year! Hoping things are close to back to normal by the end of the year. I'm headed back to Disney next week and will be sharing my pandemic Disney experience and tips soon! :)
im a plus size trans guy and going to disney in like a month and man biker shorts are my only savior 😩 i also cut up leggings from goodwill to make into biker shorts to wear under my regular shorts and its an absolute life saver. i could nottttt survive disney parks in august heat without biker shorts of some kind hahha
Hi Tracy! Finding this video before my very first Disney World trip back in July was my saving grace… I do have a question about one of the statements you made in this video about Tieks… can you explain more on why you said Tieks are okay if you’re in Disneyland but not in Disney World? I eventually would like to visit Disneyland in the future someday as well. Keep up the great work! 😊
Yes, of course! What I meant by that is that in Florida the combination of extreme heat, heavy humidity and frequent rain can make wearing Tieks uncomfortable. I’ve visited LA during the summer several times now and even in July it can be very comfortable weather, even cool in the evenings. It also doesn’t rain as often and the heat is more dry. So, I believe you may be able to get away with wearing Tieks there. But, if it were me, I’d probably still stick to a supportive sandal or tennis shoe regardless of which park I’m visiting. I think Tieks would be fine for a half day or evening visit though.
Can you also apply the tips and tricks in this video for visiting Universal Studios in Florida as well? I’ve been to Disney World 3 times now but this will be my first time going to Universal in December.
I'm planning my 2026 WDW College Grad Vacation from 7/7/26-7/16/26. I'm planning on DisneyBounding as some of my favorite Disney Characters. About Shoes, For My Minnie Mouse DisneyBound, I'm wearing The Red and White Polka Dot Sandals, For my Cinderella DisneyBound, I'm wearing The Cinderella-Like Glass Slippers, for my Aurora Pink DisneyBound, I'm wearing Light-Pink Sandals, For my Ariel DisneyBound, I'm wearing The Mint Green Ballet Shoes, For my Belle Yellow DisneyBound, I'm wearing Yellow Low-Heel Dress Shoes, For my Jasmine DisneyBound, I'm wearing my Light-Blue-Slip-On Sandals, For my Frozen Elsa & Frozen 2 Elsa DisneyBound, I'm wearing The Frozen Elsa Light-Blue Sandals, The Frozen 2 Elsa Low-Heel Sneakers, Frozen 2 Elsa White Sandals, For my Raya DisneyBound, I'm wearing Brown Strap Sandals, & for my Bo Peep DisneyBound, I'm wearing Black Dress Shoes with Straps.
I just got back from a week at WDW. I never sweated so much in my life! I guess going from 55 F to 94 F is a shock to the system! lol I am 61, about 70 pounds overweight, feet that swell up balloons in the heat and humidity, and I found Propet TravelActive Mary Jane and TravelActive Avid to be very comfortable. They have a meshish upper so they weren't too hot. I usually wear a wide width but knowing how my feet swell combined with the stresses of a day at WDW, I ordered extra wide and I'm glad I did. I wore shorts one day and regretted it. My thighs are very flabby and it hurt to peel myself off seats. I was most comfortable wearing Old Navy cropped leggings, the cheapest ones in a t-shirt material, and loose tunic-length tops. Those Jockey Skimmies are the best. Super stretchy and light-weight. I don't even feel them on. I have pairs that are probably going on 10 years old so they are durable. I imagine wearing Skimmies and a long, loose t-shirt or tank dress with slits up the sides might be the most comfortable thing to wear to WDW. You wouldn't feel any of your clothing except for your bra.
Thank you for the practical advice and recommendations! I hope you still had a magical trip even with a couple of discomforts. I told my husband I never wanted to go to Disney in summer because of the heat!
Honestly I've lived in South Florida my entire life. I was born in Key West and I currently live in Miami and not even I was physically prepared for the heat at Animal Kingdom. I don't even remember the last time I sweat that much. I agree with you on the shorts comment lol. I wore Jean shorts. JEAN SHORTS lol never again
We are going in May of this year and I’m a bigger girl and I’m trying to figure out my bra situation! 😫 Do you recommend sports bras? Or full support? I usually wear underwire minimizers but I know I’ll chafe
I've never had an issue with my bras before at Disney. But, I know you can put Gold Bond really anywhere that your worried will chafe. I usually stick to a tshirt bra with underwire. I prefer the tshirt bras from Torrid. But, I know some prefer sports bra. It really depends on the person and their comfort level.
I'm actually also from Georgia! :) I would say a lighter/softer material polo would be fine. I would stay away from the heavier rougher fabrics though. I can't remember how light the tommy brand polos are.
