  • Harbor Freight PREDATOR 3500 Watt GENERATOR 1400 hour REVIEW & BELOW FREEZING Start
We lived off the grid for 5 months straight and today we are sharing our experience with you after using it for over 1400 hours and we are starting it in below freezing temperatures!
    ▬ ABOUT US ▬
We are a retired couple building a debt-free OFF GRID earth sheltered dome home in the Adirondack Park of New York State. We have a super tight budget (getting tighter every day), and are very careful managing every penny we've been saving since our 20's by repurposing, budget buying, and using free stuff. Check out our 'about' page link above for more information and join us to see how we manage the challenges of staying in budget!
    Sincerely,
    Rich & Kathie

I have been off grid since 1997. I use solar and wind power. During the winter months I occasionally use Dino power. I have a pair of preditor 5000's running on propane. I use them about 30 hours annually so they should last for decades.

I've had my Predator 3500 a few years to use while elk hunting and I'm super impressed with it. One of the best investments I've ever made.

Those cold starts always sound horrible lol. I make sure I use synthetic oil in my winter equipment 👍👍

It might work great in the winter, but it don't work worth a crap when it's 111..... It will not run our RV air conditioner unless it's below 104 deg. F.... Says so right on the unit.

Ugh! I wouldn't think it would work in conditions that hot! We don't really get that here...especially in the shade! But we have never had a problem and it has never shut down on us.

The only problem with the predator is no shops will work on them. They don't carry parts for them.

I haven’t had any problems in the few years we owned it but I’d probably work on it myself

@Creating A Simpler Life Off-Grid yup you would have to. I don't know why they don't have parts for these things there great generators.

My plan is, if I buy one, buy the extended warranty from harbor freight. If it dies, they probably just exchange it? With all the problems with ethanol, we need warranties on gas equipment. Every mechanical device is subject to failure, regardless of the manufacturer. Honda is probably bulletproof put probably 3-5 times the price

Turn the selector slowly back to run and it won't cut out like that.

Looks like a great generator however I would strongly recommend the Honda 3000is. Guaranteed way quieter.

      @mikes7405 Рік тому +1

the comparison videos I've watched the predator started better, and was quieter..

    • @nickkatchmar5408

@@mikes7405 perhaps. The predator is still an impressive machine. But I am 100% dedicated to the Honda Genny. Honda engineering is definitely superior. More part availability (even though they rarely break) smooth operation, cold climate design, less fuel consumption, quieter operation (perhaps) extremely realizable. But definitely more expensive. At the end of the day…. Proper care and maintenance goes a long way.

If it lasts that long for you up there I’m sure it will be perfect for me on the ca central coast where it’s always sunny and 75
