This guy really took the role seriously. I don't know how much preparation he did but Cole Hauser is nearly unrecognizable here. His expressions, mannerisms... disposition - nearly everything about the character seems entirely unique to Rip Wheeler. He deserves an emmy award for his work on this show.
IMO he is the best actor on the show! Takes that role and runs with it. I can honestly say if it was not for him I would have stopped watching after season 1.
I never watched the show but does he have Indigenous ancestry or lived on a reservation or something? Because I noticed in one scene I watched he had a rez accent. I was like wow this guy really has a rez accent. It was weird to me cause I’ve never seen that on tv by non native actors
I gotta seriously agree with you on all your points. Finally got around to watching this show over the holiday weekend. Saw a picture of Cole Hauser, couldn't believe it was the same guy.
Cole Hauser trivia for those who don’t already know: he is the son of Cass Warner, who founded the film production company Warner Sisters, and actor Wings Hauser. His paternal grandfather was Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dwight Hauser. One of Cole's maternal great-grandfathers was film mogul Harry Warner, a founding partner of Warner Bros., and his maternal grandfather was Milton Sperling, a Hollywood screenwriter and independent film producer. Cole comes from one of the biggest Hollywood families but you would never know it because he has never used it to get famous. He has earned his acting creds all on his own and deserves all the praise he gets especially for this role if Rip Wheeler.
Rip says , “ almost doesn’t matter” and Kevin says who taught you that. Rip says “you did sir” - Kevin gave him a look like a dad does when you checkmate them with their own words. Well played by both.
I've loved Cole Hauser for years. In all his roles, this is by far the perfect one. He plays it like it is in his blood. He and this show deserve a lot of recognition.
The Rip Wheeler character is what most men strive to want to be, fiercely loyal to a "T", respected by his peers, & slightly feared by those who don't truly know him.
He didn't, it was for Beth. Beth then went on and gave it to Rip. It has to stay in the family. Thats why when questioned later on he had no idea. (assuming your talking about when he gave him the ranch)
@@smokeem15 Not the way I interpret it. He said Beth was the son he never had earlier. Then later in the episode Rip thanked him for what he did and John had no idea what he was talking about.
Can’t give enough credit to the writers, to the people who picked the actors to play their role and just the perfect chemistry between Rip and Beth, love love their storyline. Going back now to rewatch from the beginning...again.
Yellowstone is so well acted with such a fantastic well written script and the back drop along with scenery is majestic it had me hooked from the very first episode
The notion of the romantic cowboy every man wants to be and every girl wants to be with. Well play Cole Hauser. Absolutely perfect for this role, And so easy on the eyes, too.
RIP is all cowboy, no holds bar! Love his mean aggressive attitude. Then he can be a gentleman in a matter of seconds when Beth is present. Just runs a tingle down any woman's spine, a rebel with 110% charge!
CrAzy Crazy Three, didn’t feel it until he calmed down his Beth, I love it how they were each other’s first kiss first love and never loved anyone else #Rip&Beth
I met Rip or the person he was based on, years ago went to Western Montana to Elk Hunt, my guide was Calvin, he was Rip to a tee. Strong, kinda quiet, but a great, nice guy. There are stories about hunters that did wrong in camp and Calvin fixed their attitude problems. Bring big city attitude to rural America and you will receive rural attitude.
I love that first Kayce/Rip scene so much. Rip knows right away its gonna be a scrap, and gives him the first shot, then welcomes him home while riding off, hahaha!
He s fit to these kind of roles and he s nostalgic to me im 39 years old and all that i can remember is the movie Dances with Wolves my respect to this man
Rip is still my favorite in the whole show and Kelly makes the perfect pair to see to the range standing tall forever...we want more and more of Yellowstone not spin offs
This show gives me a sense of justice in this jacked up upside down world right now. Granted it is a bit extreme, but there are a lot of tune ups given in this show that many people in our politics deserve. Gives me hope that it might still all work out. 😂😂
The vulnerability shown between Beth and Rip is so pure, so finely written, that’s great writing when you can take two broke people and give them a soul like theirs.
I absolutely love this show. I know it's just a show, but Rip for president!!! Like I said, I love this show and all the actors who are in it and their rolls. Kevin and crew, keep it up. I love you ALL!!!!
Season 2, Episode 7. That episode defines Rip; loyal to Beth and willing to literally take bullets for her. The interaction between Beth and Rip, when he's about to say he loves her, and she tells him "Tell me when it saves my life." The episode is perfection. Cole Hauser was meant to be Rip. ❤
Rip is my favorite character. He knows what to take seriously and knows how to let the things that do not matter slide. All the while cussing up a store!

Its cool when an actor thats been kicking around for a long time finally gets the role that makes them the recognition they deserve.
Absolute truth! He's been one of my favorite actors since School Ties
Without a doubt his best role.
For real.
Except few people recognise him
Clearly… you’ve never born witness to Tin Cup.
They couldnt of picked anyone better to play Rip Wheeler !!! Cole Hauser is one of the most underrated actors I've ever seen !!!
Rip Wheeler is based on Terry Funk . Goggle Terry Funk.
Unfortunately Sam Eliot is a bit too old.
Couldn't have
Chuck Roast Sam Elliot during his Mask era yes
Hauser is an actors actor and he isn’t underrated at all
Rip is my favourite , honest ,loyal and straight up , he’s old school simple
need more of people like Rip
I've not seen much of the show, but liked what I did. If you do give a RIP, say h### yeah!

Only thing bad about this show is there’s not enough episodes!! Best show on television!!
Very true, the best shoe right now. Not enough of them.
I agree ,we want more
WE WANT MORE YELLOWSTONE
It’s probably the only reason I own a television.
Got that right!

That scene stuck to me too! So true ,Taylor has classic quotes! Almost is a comfort for the weak!
I've loved Cole Hauser for years. In all his roles, this is by far the perfect one. He plays it like it is in his blood. He and this show deserve a lot of recognition.
Cole Hauser has been around a long time but the way he plays Rip is career defining. It’s like Rip is a real person they just put in the show.
Love Rip when he busted thru the glass to save Beth in he office that was great. I can watch it over and over. Beth and Rip together are great
That was a great scene.
@@richardgolden9181 it's what he tells her after the attack that makes it such a great scene; the only thing she needed to hear.
Hell yeah lol
Rip is the man every woman wants.....
Watched season 2 last night and this scene right here was great, I love seeing evil gets what coming to it !!!
I love the amount of respect he has for Dutton. Always. NEVER questions him. NEVER disrespects, NEVER talks back. Loyal
💯
I respect how he delivers his lines. His expressions are so easily understood & moving.
Chuck Norris applied for this role and Rip took him to the train station
Brilliant !
Chuck Norris is the train station
Gold.
Couldn't he have taken him to the bus station instead?
YESSIR
Hauser was MADE to play this part! He has made Rip into one of the greatest on-screen characters of all time.
That's real
Without Rip, there is no Yellowstone!
Agreed. When he's not a major part in a scene, I find myself getting bored quick. I wished they would make a spin off of just him and the bunker boys.
@@spirittammyk I'm down for that!
Absolutely!! ❣️❣️
This is true...
So true
Never heard of this man until Yellowstone.....now I will never forget him. Love him.
Seriously you never heard of Cole Hauser? He's been in so many great movies
Check him out as Benny in Dazed & Confused (1993) That's where I first knew who he was.
Cole Hauser breathes life into an amazing character.
Rip, the modern day Clint Eastwood. And I love Clint Eastwood.
Indeed. “The Outlaw Josey Wales” is one of the best films ever.
I never thought of him that way but you nailed it! He is very much like a modern Eastwood.
Whoa now
Modern day John Wayne

But has a heart of pure gold. That's what I love about him

He has to be acknowledged for this role. The best character ever in a show!
Right up there with Augustus McCray
Chris Partlow
So perfect RIP and Beth together 2 Badasses
Mike Kowal Indeed. Those two badassess make some beautiful Lovey-Dovey together !😍😇 Just loving the whole direction of the show. 😁👍

Much love from Mobile Alabama.
Agreed! I second that from Mobile
This is the kind of show that I would and will wait a year for the new seasons to come out.
The Rip Wheeler character is what most men strive to want to be, fiercely loyal to a "T", respected by his peers, & slightly feared by those who don't truly know him.
Yeah that was me until my accident
I mainly watch the show because of RIP. If they sold him in a bottle, I would be high on RIP everyday!
Well said.
It takes pain to be a Rip tho, think about his past.
That’s a B’s statement.
Rip represents the toughness and loyalty every man wants to have and should have.....give me a few like him and anything is possible!
Rip is on bad ass cowboy. He's fearless and extremely loyal. I love how John Dutton rewards that at the end of season 2.
They should have had the guy that played Bud Bundy play Rip! Kidding Rip is a mans man! Great show.
