The Night Circus has been my favorite book of all time for a couple years... I named my son after Bailey, the boy who ran away and joined the magic circus. My son died, so the book means so much more to me than it did the first couple times I read it. I read it almost every year. What a magical book.
Bailey was definitely one of my favorite characters from the book! & I'm sorry to hear that, I can't even begin to fathom the pain and hurt upon losing a child.
girl all the books that you have read this year are sooo awesome. can't say i have read all of them but i constantly hear so good things about them And Night circus is such an awesome book though i have yet to read the book
I've had Kisses from Katie on my wish list for awhile i'm going to have to get now, your review of it was awesome! Also, i'm happy you included Christian books, one of my reading goals for the year is to read more Christian books. My top four most looooved books of 2018: A Man Called Ove by Frederick Backman, The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly and The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. That's in no particular order, but The Language of Flowers and A Man Called Ove are the only two i've re-read and I usually only read a book once!
I keep hearing nothing but high praise for A Man Called Ove! I own it so I should probably get to it at some point this year! Lol and I'll be reading The Nightingale this month, actually! Another book I've never heard a bad review about :) And I'm the same way! I very rarely re-read books, even if I loved them! Hope you enjoy Kisses From Katie; it has the power to be life-changing!
I very much enjoyed watching this. Thank you for helping me discover new books! Your channel is so sweet and I am so happy to be able to follow your journey of growing with your passion of books. Much love for the new year!
I've had The Night Circus on my TBR for several years even before I discovered BookTube... Your excitement for the book bumped the novel up to the front of my list! Such a good variety of books, mine were all fantasy... definitely not intentional. Great Video 😊
Just subbed to your channel! I love your channel already!! You’re a Christian!!! Omg I love you already! I want to read more Christian nonfiction books besides the Bible and so I know I’m gonna love your channel! ❤️❤️
I did watch it when it came out, but I'm very hard to please when I watch book-to-movie adaptations of books that I loved, so I didn't find the movie all that great :/ I think if I hadn't read the book, it'd be a solid thriller movie! so, to answer your question, no it did not do the book justice - as always, the book is WAY better than the movie!
The Night Circus has been on my tbr for so long now and I don’t know why I haven’t read it yet.. one of my reading goals for 2019 is definitely going to be to finally read it 🙈 My favourite book I read in 2018 was without a doubt The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I had a similar experience to what you had with Bird Box where I expected to like it but I was really blown away by it. The story, the characters, the setting... it was so good!! I’ve never read about a character quite like Evelyn Hugo before.
No need to say sorry or apologize of saying UA-cam instead of BookTube. I think it's fine, to say it's all over UA-cam because technically BookTube is a niche/genre/(whatever you name it) in UA-cam. 😊 I think that we are indeed part of UA-cam and that we are going to take over, and show more of our importance in the UA-cam community. ❤️ 😊 Gosh I would really love to read these books! I still have so many in my physical TBR. A lot of the books in my previous hauls, I haven't read and they weren't even too many, since I am a slow reader, but I borrowed books a lot from my aunt haha in my last haul! I also wanna get to a lot of series as well. The only one that I read in this video is Night Circus. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't able to connect to it that much. It was I think a 3 out of 5 stars for me. You speak so sweetly. Simple & sweet, I would say is your brand. 😁
Bird box was one of my favorite books for the year of 2018. As someone that has generalized anxiety disorder ir was terrible to read some chapters of this because I was shaking and feeling really terribly. I loved it. Way better than the movie.
I love how you describe The Night Circus, you're really making me want to read it! It sounds just like something I would love. Also, love how honest and open you are about being a Christian ❤️. I'm going to check out Dreaming with God and would definitely be interested in more Christian book recommendations.
If The Night Circus sounds like a book you'd love, then you'll probably love it a lot! At least that was the case for me! & thank you! I hope you enjoy Dreaming With God! I journaled while reading it, which helped me pray through a lot of things I was struggling with at the time, so if you like journaling at all, I'd suggest you do it along with reading it!
@@MackenzieLane you're welcome :) I probably will, Whenever I read a non-fiction Christian book I find that journaling helps me to work through everything easier and deeper, and it sticks a lot better. I even find that I prefer to journal my prayers because it helps me to work through my emotions/feelings better.
The book thief was one of my top reads this year. So so so good! But I think my favourite of 2018 (dare I say it?) ... Was Bridge of Clay. I just loved it so muchhhhhhhh!
oh, really?? I've been hearing so many mixed things about Bridge of Clay, so I've been quite hesitant to pick it up! I may just borrow a copy from my local library though just to see how I'll like it :)
Mackenzie Lane I would definitely recommend a library copy just in case. But in all the books I've read this year, this one sticks with me. Try to give it a good chance! (But if you hate it, I'm sorry haha). You're so sweet ill still love watching your videos ☺️
Some of my favourite booms I've read this year are: The Shadow of the Wind and The Labyrinth of Spirits by Carlos Ruiz Zafon The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Suzanne Clarke If We Were Villains by M.L Rio and Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden.
I really want to read The Shadow of the Wind and If We Were Villains!! & I've only ever watched the movie adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo; if you've seen it, do they even compare, or is the book far better?
Have you seen Bird Box the movie yet? I personally think it was so disappointing compared to the novel. Im glad to see it made your favorites list :D The characters were so great in that book!
I did watch it after filming this video, and it definitely wasn't my thing :( My biggest gripe was the romance they added in between Tom and Malorie! I loved that the book didn't force a romance between the two of them, but then the movie went and did it anyway! There were so many other things that bothered me, but I knew they would since I think the book is nearly flawless & any deviation from it wouldn't be something I'd like :P
I did! But I'm super hard on book-to-movie adaptations of books that I love, so I was a little underwhelmed by the movie :/ but I think it's a solid thriller apart from the book!

my fav book from illuminae files is illuminae - i just love the beginning and everything - but gemina was really good too.. and obsidio is not translated to my language yet so i have to wait. i also loved six of crows duology, made you up by francesca zappia, love simon and of course two books from my favourite sarah j. maas - tower of dawn and a court of wings and ruin❤️. oh, and one book from author who is from my country - projekt kronos by pavel bareš - im so sad that you cant read it because im 100% sure you dont speak czech, hah
Illuminae is such a great start to the series, I agree! I would've put that one on my list, but I read it in August of 2017! I'm so late to the Six of Crows hype train (even though I've read a good chunk of Six of Crows a couple years ago) & Tower of Dawn! And no, unfortunately I do not speak Czech :(
I guessed your number 1 book :) I read so many good books this year but my absolute favourites are: To Kill a Mockingbird and The Forty Rules Of Love. Happy new year Mackenzie! 🎉🎉

Robyn, I am so very sorry for the loss of your precious child. I will keep you in my prayers.
Bailey was definitely one of my favorite characters from the book! & I'm sorry to hear that, I can't even begin to fathom the pain and hurt upon losing a child.
Robyn Dicken I definitely can not relate exactly in your situation but I went though a lot and this book I read means a lot to me
Night circus and book thief have been on favorites in years past and Gemina was on my list this year- following you for sure! Thanks!

I love that you have a different scripture verse in the description box of every video
So happy that you read Birdbox and enjoyed it! It's one of my favorite books and I'm glad more people are reading it!
girl all the books that you have read this year are sooo awesome. can't say i have read all of them but i constantly hear so good things about them And Night circus is such an awesome book though i have yet to read the book

I absolutely adored the book thief. It got me out of my reading block. I adored it.
Happy to hear the night Circus was your favourite of 2018! I just bought it at the thrift store yesterday and look forward to reading it!!!!
You did a great job color coordinating your outfit with some of the book covers. (Vengeful & TNC especially)

I'm planning on reading a lot more this year so I can recommend some in a video entirely devoted to non-fiction Christian book recs! Thanks, love!! :)

Happy new year! Loved this video! 😍❤️
Thank you! Same to you :)
I read The Book Thief this year too!! And it was my number 2 spot as well. Hahaha
wow, so alike!
Have you watched the movie of Bird box? It makes justice to the book? Thanks 😊

I knew ' The night circus ' would be #1

Since you loved Night Circus, i would really really recommend The Toymakers by Robin Dinsdale♥️
ooh, haven't ever heard of that book, thanks!
