Italy has the 4th most powerful passport in the world. Italy is a G7 country along with Japan, UK, Germany, France, Canada, and of course USA. Design and manufacturing prowess for sure as well as a great quality of life.
This kind of content is why I subbed. It's like having a daily news source for just what is going on all over the world, in terms of CBI, etc. Great work.
Please be super-extra-careful. Italy is indeed a beautiful country, if you like buy a villa, why not, but as a foreigner. Italy is one of the worst places to start a business, lots of regulations, huge bureaucracy, ecc... unless you are a big player and are connected with politicians (i.e. left parties). Not a wise place for a Nomad Capitalist, but still one of the best places to visit.
Italy is very popular for English speaking expats, this is good if you're still brushing up on your Italian.
Expats is just a fancy word for immigrants.
@M PW oh I'm not moving there, but some people do like socialism, so that might be the place for them.
@M PW you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about...
@M PW the in-law connection makes you an expert then... There is world-wide pandemic, people are being laid off and dying everywhere not just in Italy. Italy has a good medical system and it’s erhhhmm free, unlike the US where people are forced to sell their properties to pay for medical bills. There never was a socialist takeover, not sure where you get your information. The 2 decades of recession have been caused by Europe and the adoption of the Euro which doubled prices of everything overnight whilst leaving salaries unchanged. Back to your hole.
expats self fund. Immigrants go welfare heavy.
Never clicked so fast. I was thinking about leaving Italy until I heard you talk about the lump sum payment for taxes, and now this! I definitely need to read your book!

Italy might be a good choice for captive insurance/transferring financial risk, but (compared to nearby countries) not for wealth creation.
Italy is like Orlando in FL : good only for a week of tourism . No Disneyworld nor Universal , though 🤣🤣🤣

I read a while ago that Italy was developing a retirement program to entice foreigners to retire to say, Sicily, Sardinia, etc, tax free. The only catch is you are constrained to stay and live in defignated areas, for a certain minimum period per year. I've forgotten the details, but the idea is to boost the local economy of these areas that had been negatively impacted by the mass exodus of their young people in search of better opportunities outside their home towns and cities. I wonder if this is still on.

In Italy you have to price that you are going to have a great time.

One of the major stumbling blocks with all of this is that Italy does not not recognise or convert most Non EU drivers licenses eg. New Zealand, South Africa, Australia and Canada and USA. You will have to retake the test in Italian. Until this issue is addressed it makes no sense,
@@MrRedsjackonly for 12 months once you take up residence.
It is said that most Italians drive as if they had just spilled a beaker of acid in their laps, so how hard could the test be? Frankly, the harder the test the better, I say.
Learn Italian.
@@MrRedsjack Extremely useful and if I may say, entertaining and informative. Thank you for taking the time. I'm at a stage where I'm rarely in a hurry and drivers most everywhere -- certainly in the states -- seem to lose a bit of their humanity once they are ensconced behind the wheel. Not sure why that happens... Put a tiny little woman and mother of five behind the wheel of a monster pick up truck and she'll drive like her hair is on fire and she's raging on steroids. These days, prefer walkable neighborhoods when I can though your scooter comments seem like a good idea in the right neighborhood.
In my opinion majority of EU countries are no go for investment they have to much complicated tax rules which makes products very expensive and after few years people simply wouldn't be able to afford much if it as salery aren't keeping up with price hikes unless EU comes up with some kind better tax plan it will going to struggle and then you have to deal with EU banks and tax authorities those people are nightmare
I've been in Italy already for 6 years and let me tell you it as been a pain in the ass sadly too late to get out of here, there are a lot of taxes and with big percentages also the bureaucracy is extremely annoying, that's why my italian born friends have hidden accounts in other countries so if you are planning in coming get ready to do "side-works", Italy is only beautiful for in the movies and for staying a couple of weeks thats it, listen to this guy there are better options.
Thanks for posting 👍
This still probably won't sway me to considering Italy as an option. Good move in the right direction though.
@Vinni Al-Ambrosee We've been doing some preliminary analysis based on global ranking for factors that are important to us including air quality, internet speed, peace and crime. For us, Portugal seems like a good option.
We're currently living in Nicaragua and and the equivalent investment required is substantially lower at $30k (we briefly considered applying for residency here, but didn't expect to be here long term). Your decision should be based on your specific requirements though. If you love Italy then go for it!

Investing 250K euros in a startup can be very risky, there is a potential the investment will turnout great or it can end up being a free donation and you loose all your money.
It is very dependable on whose vetting those eligible startups and and how they are selected.
Not to mention the high level of corruption in the country... which still makes it not an attractive program.
Italy is corrupt as hell. It even less transparent then communist China. You never know what these startup are doing with your money
Losing 250k isn't bad considering that if you were to make a donation to get a visa it is usually much higher in the EU. I would glad pay 250k directly to Italy for EU citizenship. That is a steal.

Hey Andrew, how do you deal with government documents in non English speaking countries like Colombia, Portugal, Spain or Italy. Do you have a translator translate the document to English before signing it? Or do you rely on a good local lawyer to interpret the stipulations to you in English?
Speaking for Portugal...They have translation service's that will translate documents from English to Portuguese, I.e. for my Residence here...Authentic documents will have to be Apostilled from origin of country, keep that in mind...Boa Sorte!
For Italian citizenship, there is a firm that does deal with everything for you
I would love to see UK also coming up with flat tax and get rid of shitty vat and corporation tax system make an affordable tax system which works for everyone
Always great info. But investing $250k to $500k in an Italian corp? Hmmm dicey Andrew. Is Italy really an investment hotbed? All we hear is a government in complete kaos. Portugal sounds much better. And of course Lots of beaches. Chicas, Beaches and Beer. Or maybe wine in Portugal.
Portuguese and Spanish are NOT the same language (re:CHICA). Even Brazilian Portuguese and Continental Portuguese can be VERY different. "Chica" or girl in Portuguese, from Portugal, is: "RAPARIGA." In Brazil "Rapariga" means prostitute. In Portugal a "chick" would be "gata/gatinha" or "garota/garotinha." You could use those words too in Brasil. A hot chick is a "garota gostosa."
Use the words "menina," or "moça,"
in both places to identify a regular girl.
