This show is like watching a comic book come to life, love Cesar Romero. He had so much style, cunning, and the best sense of showmanship pretty much any actor ever had.
Glad I found this. Ledger's mask in "The Dark Knight" during the bank robbery sequence is identical to the Pagliacci mask worn here by Romero. The shot for shot close-ups of the mask revealing the face underneath are very similar too.
Yes, there will never be another Joker as Cesar Romero played him! he was a genius. I heard him say on an interview that of all the roles he ever did, playing the Joker was the easiest role he did. He said it was so easy to play. In real life when Cesar Romero applied for the role of the Joker, he was told that he had to shave off his mustache which he totally refused to do! So they painted over it with that white makeup!
I doesn't get any better than Cesar Romero as the joker.. Frank gorshin as the riddler... Burgess Meredith as the penguin....and Julie newmar as catwoman...
@1:37"That cursed utility belt again! Ughughughughhh!!! I swear by all that's funny, I shall never be fooled by that insidious unconstitutional device again! Ughughughughhh!!! LMFAO! Too fucking funny!
Loved Jack & Heath's take of the Joker character, they both put their own impression & style into the part - sign of true gifted actors! But, there's only one actor who this role was made for & who was able to bring this colorfully insane persona to life, that was Cesar Romero! Nancy Kovack was a true twentieth century FOX!
LMAO! This one may be my favorite episode of the entire series. The Joker escaping prison with the huge coil spring, then creating his own Utility Belt after being foiled by Batman's. Years ago, my buddy, who loved the show too, asked me why I liked The Joker best, and when this came on, I showed him. The Joker continuously punks Batman and Robin throughout the two-part ep, until the end, and it's hilarious. As for The Joker himself, there is Cesar Romero, and then everyone else.
Fun fact: This joker - Ceaser Romaro - actually has a mustache! If you look REALLY closely above his lip, you'll see some hair. He didn't want to shave it, so they improvised.
I like how years before she was created Joker always in spirit had a Harley Quinn. In 89 Nicholson had both Bob and Alicia as his Harley in spirit. And going all the way back to The Joker's first appearance in the 60's tv show he had a hench woman with blonde hair, a New York accent and her name is Quinn. I mean Harley was always there in spirit.
No matter what has come after, Cesar's Joker will always be the template. He took it from the page to the screen first and made the character breathe. Really scared the shit out of me as a little kid. Love it.
I wonder what would happen if the Batman we have now were in this show. This is a funny colorful kids show and then you bring in a dark, brooding, armored, BADASS.
I like how the joker's plans in this series where not even that life threatening, he was more of a troll, like turning Gotham's water supply into jelly, that's not life threatening that more just fucking with everyone, amd I love it
Its' rather obvious that both Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger both sampled a bit of Cesar Romero's take on the Joker. Given the confines of the campy 60s show, -he was fierce!!= A trulu gifted actor!
The Joker came the closest to killing Batman and Robin in the entire series in the 3 Part episode storyline in the series. The Penguin is the only other guest villain in the series that had a 3 part episode storyline. The Joker and Penguin i believe made the most return guest appearances in the tv series too.
Loved Jack & Heath's take of the Joker character, they both put their own impression & style into the part - sign of true gifted actors! But, there's only one actor who this role was made for & who was able to bring this colorfully insane persona to life, that was Cesar Romero!
Cesar Romero was the best joker ever.. to me he was the joker..Jack Nicolson joker was just plain weird.. and heath ledger joker too gloomy and depressing and too full of hate.. and the kid that played the joker on series Gotham..I admit..I kinda liked him a bit.
Top bill on every character they knew just how each one of them should look. They always convenienced me that they were the real thing. Such classic Actors today.
Wamberal central coast 1960s when this came out one of my father's friends his wife was a dead ringer for the joker the white face laugh lipstick scary eh??? I was petrified as a 5 yr old but now I look back and laugh about this!!!!
I was born in the late 80’s. In the early 90’s after school, I would rush to my Grandma’s home and watch _Batman: The Animated Series_ on Fox Kids at 4:30PM and then _Batman ‘66_ on FX (Or was it TNT or USA?) at 5:00PM. They were two very different Batmans. I thought *_Queenie_* was supposed to be the exact same character as Harley Quinn (Which as a 4-7 year old, I spelled as *_Harley QUEEN_* thinking since she had card motifs like the diamonds, clovers, hearts, and spades and since the Joker was a playing card and used card tricks she was suppose to be a Queen card. I also thought *_Alicia_* from Batman ‘89 was supposed to be the same character.
This show is like watching a comic book come to life, love Cesar Romero. He had so much style, cunning, and the best sense of showmanship pretty much any actor ever had.
Romeo was the Joker personified. Imitated in various ways by so many 'future Jokers'.
That laugh after he comes out from behind the statue is classic. Absolutely perfect!
Hands down .... The ONLY TRUE JOKER .... The laugh ... The charisma ... Cesar gave that character a fantastic life.
Next to jack Nicholson
I love Cesar Romero's Joker. Sure it was campy and played for laughs but I loved every episode that featured Him.
Steve Paul
In the 1960s...camoy/corny was COOL.
When looking back, I wished that Cesar's Joker would've been a main focal point of the show
A JOKER? Played for LAUGHTS? Unconceivable.
"It's my Mother in Law!" LOL 3:14
+Devin Drew wow lol
lol
Devin Drew n00
Devin Drew p
I fucking lost it
The Man who laid the path for all Jokers:
Jack Nicholson's mannerisms.
Mark Hamill's elocution.
Heath Ledger's laugh.
Jared Leto's crazy eyes.
don't forget Jared Leto as well beat Joker
Mark Hamill's laugh sounds a lot like Romero's.
what are you talking about
jared leto was never joker
Tommy Wiseau’s homicidal tendencies
bulaluigi Haven’t you seen Suicide Squad?
Glad I found this. Ledger's mask in "The Dark Knight" during the bank robbery sequence is identical to the Pagliacci mask worn here by Romero. The shot for shot close-ups of the mask revealing the face underneath are very similar too.
Cool reference, right?
TDKR also climaxed in a variation of “Some days, you just can’t just get rid of a bomb.”
Ledger is a sorry joker. Anyone can play crazy.
Yeah, it makes him look even more psycho!
To be fair. The joker would paint over his mustache
One of the best Joker episodes. The first season was the best of the three.
Cesar Romero was and will be THE man.
I doesn't get any better than Cesar Romero as the joker.. Frank gorshin as the riddler... Burgess Meredith as the penguin....and Julie newmar as catwoman...
3:17 "It's my mother in law.". LMAO!!!! A great show and the best The Joker ever!
CESAR ROMERO BEST JOKER EVER!!!!!
He was really great as the joker! First actor to bring him alive.
Since I was born in the early 1970's, this is the first Joker I remembered. Cesar Romero and Jack Nicholson are my 2 favorite Jokers.
Cesar Romero as The JOKER is 100% irreplaceable & their will never be another Joker like him that's for sure! rest n' peace Mr. Laughter.
You got that right ;)
Cesar Romero thank you friend! ':oD
JOKER WINS !
Cesar Romero- The best joker ever.
agree 100%. I think that is all why we are here.
He certainly has a laugh worth listening to.
I agree 💯 the best
His laugh is haunting, and it stays with you, always, l love it,.
@1:37"That cursed utility belt again! Ughughughughhh!!! I swear by all that's funny, I shall never be fooled by that insidious unconstitutional device again! Ughughughughhh!!! LMFAO! Too fucking funny!
cesar romero. best joker ever. incredible character actor. amazing man.
Joker didn't even shave his moustache before applying face paint. Badass.
I love seeing the joker play baseball!
Atticus Cseh LOL, Yeah, throw him in General Pop.... The look on his face playing baseball. LOL.
Warning: Joker's expressions and laughs are EXTREMELY contagious!
3:11 I believe that whatever doesn't kill you, simply makes you... STRANGER.
Fun fact: This joker - Ceaser Romaro - actually has a mustache! If you look REALLY closely above his lip, you'll see some hair. He didn't want to shave it, so they improvised.

Cesar Romero RULES
No matter what has come after, Cesar's Joker will always be the template. He took it from the page to the screen first and made the character breathe. Really scared the shit out of me as a little kid. Love it.
How? Did he EVER scare you
How? Did he EVER scare you
+Carnell Johnson right? I sorta like this joker but at the same he's a fucking joke compared to Jack or Heath (or Hamill if we going cartoons/games)
damn, this joker was one of the best, and definitely one of the best jokerlaughs ever
I wonder what would happen if the Batman we have now were in this show. This is a funny colorful kids show and then you bring in a dark, brooding, armored, BADASS.
Nobody would have a chance. I'd like to think of this as an alternate universe of Batman kind.
DaShonuff DC has so many alternate times storylines and universes. I think this will be ok :p
Cesar Romero was the best joker who ever played on tv.😂😂😂😂😂
That FUCKING laugh LMFAOOOO...SL EPIC AMD THE BEST....CSAR ROMERO PLAYED THE BEST JOKER IN BATMAN...GREAT CHILDHOOD MEMORIES WATCHING THIS SHOW!
Cesar Romero's Joker was also a Master of Disguise, pulling off the impression of a wealthy Maharajah
better than leto
Lol. There's so many incarnations, they're always different. Can't compare.
Uhh dont say lol , only kids say that
+SkyKnight257 12 lmfao. k I'm an adult. But thanks for your assumptions. I actually love all the Jokers' for different reasons.
Brianna Elise i like all except leto , he doesnt feel like joker to me!
+SkyKnight257 12 I got some vibes from certain comics. He was definently a big change though.
Cesar Romero is THE joker.
Nicholsen said in an interview with Johnny Carson he tried to pay tribute to both the comic version and Cesar Romero's portrayal.
this is from my childhood. Much better that the terrible over produced 20 billion dollar per scene we have today.
agree
I like how the joker's plans in this series where not even that life threatening, he was more of a troll, like turning Gotham's water supply into jelly, that's not life threatening that more just fucking with everyone, amd I love it
Its' rather obvious that both Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger both sampled a bit of Cesar Romero's take on the Joker. Given the confines of the campy 60s show, -he was fierce!!= A trulu gifted actor!
The mask joker is wearing is the same mask design for Christopher Nolan's batman.
tannersroom That is an excellent homage and tribute.
3:58 SHAVE? I am Ceaser Romero!!
Brings back memories!
SAAAAME BAT-TIME... SAAAAAME BAT-CHANNEL!
Had to stop by to see some 60's batman episodes after watching batman game reviews. Haven't seen these old episodes since i was a kid.
They're on every Saturday morning starting at 7 eastern time on IFC
I watch them every time,
I'll have to watch a few episodes sometime.
25 yrs ago : Cesar RIP
it makes me happy considering how far we have gotten with the jokers character
The Joker came the closest to killing Batman and Robin in the entire series in the 3 Part episode storyline in the series. The Penguin is the only other guest villain in the series that had a 3 part episode storyline. The Joker and Penguin i believe made the most return guest appearances in the tv series too.

I find it hard to believe that Romero was in his FIFTIES when he played the Joker.
so this where the original "people of gotham city" joker face in camera scene come from haha
Man, I wish I was born around the time to watch this series. Looks very interesting...and fun.
Best TV show ever to a kid back then
At 2:02, he calls the blonde "Quinnie". Could this have been the inspiration for Harley Quinn?
Yeah the Jersey accent, blonde hair, and the curves.Yep definately Harley.
It was "Queenie."
They certainly did like the old smoke in the face tricks back then.
Loved Jack & Heath's take of the Joker character, they both put their own impression & style into the part - sign of true gifted actors! But, there's only one actor who this role was made for & who was able to bring this colorfully insane persona to life, that was Cesar Romero!
The zenith of my career!

Caesar Romero was the best Joker of all time. He made Joker more lively.
Top bill on every character they knew just how each one of them should look. They always convenienced me that they were the real thing. Such classic Actors today.
Arguably Nancy Novak is the hottest babe a batman villain ever had.
Cesar Julio Romero Jr was an accomplished Thespian before the campy cheesy BatMax
yeah whatever snobbo
I liked the joker as much as batman
Genial César Romero con lo del bigote
The next shot of the Joker in the beginning of the show takes place after months of reconstructive surgery after he sprang from prison.

*joker unmasked Guy at bar- That's my mother in law!
Yes, and the expression of the lady next to him as he makes that comment is just priceless.
When utility belts are outlawed, only outlaws will own utility belts.
Nancy Kovac, what a fox.
Agreed! She was such a pretty lady!
