How I Improved My MCAT Score

- If you've been following my channel, you know I've been studying for an MCAT retake. After getting my score back a couple weeks ago, I wanted to make this video to help others in my shoes! This is a long one, but to summarize, there are some key notes below. Good luck ya'll!! :)
-Spent about 3-4 months before my January 2023 MCAT studying for about 20-25 hours a week
-Did UWorld for about 3 months (I finished a little over 1000 questions by that point)
-Finished AAMC packs: students-residents.aamc.org/p...
-Did 1-2 CARS passages a day on Jack Westin or AAMC CARS packs.
-Did 4 practice exams 4 weeks before my retake, two of which were unscored UWORLD simulated exams, one was a retake of my AAMC FLs and the last was AAMC FL5
-Used Anki to review gaps in content (I used more of my own cards the second time around, but a pre-made deck the first time and some of the second time): / anking_mcat_overhaul_v2
-Took 3.5 weeks off before my retake to study almost full-time

Well, I've taken the exams for the 4th time now and still didn't succeed, i wonder how those who succeeded did it.

Did you redo your aamc practice exams
I only redid one of them! The rest of my practice exams were made out of section exams that I created using UWORLD and took back to back like a real AAMC FL. (Let me know if you want me to break that down, cause it can be a little weird to explain). Fortunately the new AAMC FL 5 came out after I took it the first time, so when I decided to retake the exam I took that new exam the week before my test to simulate the real thing and get a scaled score.
@@lilizzy428 How would you compare the level of difficulty between ur crafted FL from UWorld vs AAMC FL 5? Cuz I’ve heard FL5 is very hard compared to other FLs.. Thank you for this vid btw! Very helpful and genuine tips
@@13GreatBeatBox that’s such a great question! I think that UWORLD was personally a lot harder for me than an average FL. I do remember FL 5 being one of the harder ones I’ve taken though (If I remember correctly, I think 5 and 2 were my hardest ones, but my score on FL5 ended up being the score I got on the real thing if that helps gauge, and FL 2 was my overall lowest😅)
