- This week I am competing against 204 other anglers over the course of 4 days. We will be Fishing for $125,000 on the Mississippi River out of La Crosse, Wisconsin. This is a 5 fish daily limit tournament with accumulative weight being the final scoring measure. Kicked the year off strong at Chickamauga with a win for the first Super Tournament of the year, so I got to put my head down and get to work finding some bass to try to do it again! Join me as I practice and break down the Mississippi River for game day.

Casey's is sweet. But disappointed they stopped selling E0 premium gas. Mach 1 is good too.
Folks thats a better example of tournament fishin’ its a grind.... Glamour hosting a trophy 1% of the time, pushing you boat out of muck, rerigging, filling up with gas, getting sunburned 99% of the time.

Bucees is greatest gas station no question. Good bbq, cleanest restrooms and all the snacks you could imagine.
I fished pool 10 the same week as the tournament and it wasn’t awful fishing but it wasn’t that great

Lived in La Crosse for 4 years. Great town. Beautiful part of the country. Great Fishing. Kwik Trip is by far the best gas station out there.... Get yourself some Natures touch chocolate milk with the brown cap and some glazers....

Do you and MDJ and DC all help each other out in practice before tournaments to locate where you want to fish at in the tournaments ?
Mark Smith in the flw events we share general info to help each other dial it in quicker but we can’t share any info in the MLF BPT events

I know you were broken hearted at the weigh in. My heart sunk when they said the weight. But you had a great year and I can't wait to watch you again next year. Good luck to you in 2021 .

Literally just came back from Wisconsin yesterday from a fishing trip
Man...it took 3 weeks for Tackle Warehouse to get my new Wheeler rod to western Wisconsin...should have just drove the hour to LaCrosse. You had them all! LOL. Great job. Just watched you come up an ounce short on Erie.

Just was wondering if you ever cut the hooks off your baits for practice? I’ve heard some pros that do but do you prefer to see the quality of the bites you get?
Well they prob just undo the split ring from the hook of the bait.
No split rings on frogs jigs etc. That’s what he was fishing with during this practice anyway
It really just depends on the fishery. I will a lot of times put shrink tubing on my hooks for Spinnerbaits, chatterbaits or any single hook deal. If it’s a really good fishery I always will hook a few in the area before switching to a lure that has a cover on it or no hook.

Hey I have a cabin on pool 5 and i am there every weekend in the summer and the best lure to throw almost year round is white and black and blue swim jigs near creek mouths and wood near or on the main channel or a bluegill swim jig in grassy stuff

Dang awesome video JW... one of the best practice bits I've seen made. You mention expanding on spots... How and what exactly is this and you talk of finding groups of fish. What would you consider as far as area size and the number of fish you need to catch in that area to consider it a group of fish. But awesome video

I loved this video. I have mentioned this before but would love a video of what it truly takes to be a pro angler. How you plan for a tournament, traveling, costs, entry fees, fuel costs, dealing with sponsors etc. Id like to see the other side, love the fishing side but i know theres much more to it.
