Fantastic, I worked in the city from the late 80s and until last year and dated somebody who worked on the LIFFE floor in the early 90s . I love watching old film footage of London from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Thanks so much, I thoroughly enjoyed this.
Well surprised to see this posted up but what a nice reminder of a fun place filled with amazing characters. Thank you Ruth for posting this. Happy memories.
Ruti Ahronee thanks Ruti (hoping autocorrect doesn’t change it to Ruth again 😂). Magic time with magic people. Amazing to think this is so long ago now. Again thank you for posting this. My son is asked by many of his friends about the old market, so occasional anecdotes passed his way to sate their appetite.
i was a bond trader at a bulge bracket US investment bank for 20 years and dealt with the LIFFE floor but they would front-run the hell out of us shamelessly so we were much better off when it went electronic and the scalpers could no longer rip us off. electronic DTB (Deutsche Termin Bourse) was much better for executing bond futures trades than the open outcry pit was. the LIFFE brokers were a great laugh in the pub though, I'll give them that

I love seeing footage from the 80s. I miss some of the buildings and also the walkways above the road level that wrapped round the buildings.
It was a liffe edited video that was bought by myself back in these good times....I survived 13yrs in two exchanges....then APT came...
Glad to have been part of it, thanks for posting Ruti
Great memories. What a place.
Did you work there in the 80s?

I worked there. State street. I wonder what average salary was?
Do you have details of who this film was made by at all?
I believe it was made by LIFFE, it was used at the time in the gallery of the Royal Exchange as a promotional video!
Haha Barbara, I'm afraid you're preaching to the converted here!!! You'll not sell that story here I'm afraid!!!
